All Corvus wanted was to make a quick run to the Prison Moon, drop off a few prisoners, and head home in time for his son’s birthday. Unfortunately, he is skyjacked by Isidore, Bryce, Josh, and Shai, who also commandeer two other prisoners, the married couple Warren and Janine. Now, not only will he not make it to his son’s birthday, he is being asked to fly to a mythical planet beyond the limits of settled space.

Once the skyjacking takes place, the focus turns to the characters and their interactions with each other. While Corvus is mostly an open book, Isidore, Shai, and even Warren have secrets they do not want to share with the group. There still is action, such as when the crew must work together to refuel the ship from a station that is being guarded by AIs.

Shirley Golden has written an interesting story that mixes adventure along with character. The storyline is intriguing enough to engage the reader and encourage them to continue reading.
