Love for Lydia by H. E. Bates was intensely twisted and engrossing. Just when I thought I knew which way things would end up, the plot took another twist and veered off course. I truly enjoyed this novel and was riveted start to finish. Well done!

A long-forgotten treasure that was a joy to read. I'm off to find the other works by Bates. I love finding a solid book that reads like historical fiction but it true to the time. A real delight. Thank you!
