David Baldacci has long been a go to author for me- I’m always happy to read his latest offering and “All In”, part of the 6.20 man series contains much of what one would expect from this talented thriller writer. It certainly kept me turning the pages.
In this book Agent Travis Devine is tasked with investigating the shooting and kidnapping of two people, a journalist called Lee and Bill, the soon to be ex husband of an Australian billionaires.
As Lee lies in the hospital, her life hanging by a thread Devine flies to Australia to find out the reasons for the violent attack and kidnapping in New York. Will he be able to locate Bill ?
The kidnapped man’s wife is heir to a massive fortune but she is close lipped as are other possible leads including Bill’s employers. Why was Bill meeting the journalist in the first place? Bill works in AI intelligence gathering- could this be part of the motive?
Devine meets up with Australian police sergeant Anaïs Jones who helps him in his investigations and gradually a spark develops between them. It remains to be seen whether either will act on it but it adds a bit of spice to the novel.
The pace never lets up as Devine is pursued by some very nasty people as he gradually gets closer to the truth.
I really liked the extra personal background in this novel as Devine’s own family suffers a crisis and Travis is reliant on his siblings to update him. The reader learns more about his life prior to his military career which makes him more believable and empathetic as a character.
Definitely a five star read for me and one that I recommend for all you action thriller fans out there.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my advance copy.
