Well, what can I say? I couldn’t put this book down, a veritable rollercoaster of a read, definitely a perfect follow on to book two in the series! The action didn’t let up and I couldn’t stop reading till the very end- it was so compelling.
In this book reporters, Georg, Freya and Peter , Georg’s 90 year old grandfather from the original Odessa File are targeted by Odessa after their escapades in the previous book and when they realise Odessa’s plan they are forced to act in order to avert a World War breaking out. They have help from mercenary, Brogan, Georg’s Godfather and a Mossad assassin who becomes involved.
Sadly elements of this plot are eminently believable, a country obsessed by a right wing political movement whose followers wear red baseball hats! The story of political infiltration at the highest level is worrying as it could be a possibility although I sincerely hope not.
This is definitely a black and white novel- heroes that are really good and baddies who are extremely evil- Roman Krantz is particularly malevolent and violent. These are the sort of escapist books I really enjoy!
Sadly Frederick Forsyth has now passed away but Tony Kent has definitely taken up the mantel of this excellent novelist. I have read and enjoyed Tony’s other books so was pleased to see he has cowritten this series- I knew it would be good.
I’m not sure if there will be another book- part of me hopes there will be which is the sign of an enjoyable read but I fear not.
Bravo Tony and Frederick - you’ve written a great final instalment if that is what it is!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my advance copy.
