Having adored the author's first book The Letter I was very excited to get an ARC from the publishers and Netgalley. The Secret is a wonderful and moving story which I thoroughly enjoyed. A heartwarming family saga. 4 stars.

I haven't read Kathryn Hughes before but I know this is her second book. I absolutely loved it! I finished it in two days, I couldn't put it down. It was one of those books that you just think 'oh one more chapter' and hours later you're still reading!! She kept you captivated with her twists and turns. I worked out that the baby abandoned was Beth but didn't connect that the little boy Mikey was now her husband. I didn't click until the book was brought back to the present day! Daisy had a big secret to keep and I didn't realise until the end that Jerry was still alive. I assumed he died in the crash as there was no mention of him and snippets from Daisy about Mikey keeping her company so presumed he didn't survive, that was a nice surprise! I'm glad they all were told the truth in the end and Jerry was able to help his grandson live. I would definitely recommend this book and I'm going to download her first one if this one is anything to go by! I absolutely would look out for her next book, I can't wait to see what she writes about next! Thank you for letting me read and review this book, looking forward to her next one.

I haven't read the previous book by this author but it is on my 'to be read pile', but having read this one it will be moving further up to the top.

This is such a lovely book, which had me cycling through various emotions all the way from the first page to the last. I finished the book in under a day as I was desperate to know the outcome.

Highly recommended 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

This was quite a confusing story. There was two timelines with a lot of characters. The novel did come together at the end. However I was annoyed that the conclusion was very unrealistic. Could have been so much better.
