Really enjoyed this thriller. Great cast of characters and a gripping and entertaining plot with enough twists and surprises to keep this reader guessing. I Couldn't put it down.

Right from the start I had the impression that he had already heard this story: scenes taken from one of the rare sitcoms seen in my now prehistoric youth, with protagonists and very similar events continued to present themself before my eyes.
The plot is in fact a bit obvious, but the idea to give each character a different voice, to leave them, so to speak, free to express themselves, proves successful and is what makes this book fun. So some players talk to themselves, others write letters, and this plurality of voices keeps you on your curiosity and makes the book flows quickly.
I found very disturbing the idea of sociability among young people given by the book, which seems to advise the industrial consumption of alcohol as a means of integration, to the point of being almost encouraged by extracurricular institutions such as clubs that enroll freshmen in their first days at university, and not because I am a bigot, but because I find the practice that the way of thinking that it underlies very stupid.
Thank Urban Publications and Netgalley for giving me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Lost in Static really gets you from the opening pages with someone being rushed of to hospital, the question is, was this an accident or a deliberate act?, this is a great gripping debut novel , the story of 4 students in their first year at university, all from different backgrounds and each telling their own version of events, one incident , 4 students , who is telling the truth?. We go back to the first days at University, how the students met, who likes who , or who is manipulating who to suit their own agenda. Christina Philipou has written a novel that will draw you in, so clever in her style of writing, that you may not empathise with some of them, but you do feel for them as they try to keep up with the crazy pace of life most students find themselves engulfed in, all night parties , drinking, maybe drugs, this could make most parents want to lock their teenagers up, though I would think the stories of life in halls are legendary by now!...The students different views, run well side by side, each one totally believable, as the storyline flows from one fast paced chapter to another, the author keeps the suspense alive until she is ready to let us in, revealing what lay behind the secrets and lies that led to the opening tragedy, that shapes the lives of Callum, Yasmine, Ruby and Juliette. A really great debut novel, I definitely recommend it, and a truly stunning ending.
