I found 'The Book of Harlan' an engaging and vivid read. I especially enjoyed how the stories from different times seamlessly blended into each other. The beginning is a little slow and I had to plough through a little bit, but it was well worth the effort. I am a little ambivalent about the ending, but all in all, a compelling read.

A well written & well researched novel of ww2. This novel is unique in that it tells the story of a black man and despite being a super ww2 geek, I haven't read many like this!
