The first novel in the Ben Garston urban fantasy series.
If you're a fan of urban fantasy authors like Jim Butcher, Ben Aaronovitch, and Benedict Jacka, then I would definitely recommend this series.

This novel does a good job of establishing the "rules" of Bennett's version of the world - there are familiar tropes included, some of them twisted just a bit to make them interesting and fresh again. As the first novel, though, it seems to still be finding its feet. Other urban fantasy series have opened stronger out of the gate (e.g., Aaronovitch's), but this is good enough to make me want to read more.

This was a real disappointment.
The story was too in depth in places and the characters lacked appeal.
This was most definitely not for me.

This book was so frustrating in the way that I just couldn't get into it. No matter how long I read for I just couldn't get immersed in the story. Sadly I had to DNF it.
