Every is stuck in a rut, trapped teaching science in a school along with disastrous dates from Tinder she realises something has to change.

On a particularly bad Tinder date she books a weeks holiday to Switzerland, maybe this is the kick-start she needs.

On her last day in Switzerland she gets a call from her friend Tilly from Bermuda, whilst chatting her friend suggests applying for a teacher job in Bermuda, but does changing country change her luck.

This was a great book, great descriptions of the various international locations, the characters were very engaging and I loved that all the characters were as they seem.

A fabulous escapist read, well worth picking up.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

the story pulled me right in and it was hard to put it down when I had to. It is fun to read about the trips and see the places through the eyes of Everly. Maybe live a little through her there as well. But not only that the scenery is nice, it is nice to see the inner changes on Everly as well. The way she grew as a person makes it all better, for real.

If you need a pick me up or to run away from the rainy weather, this book is a real pick me up. It will take you away to the beach and you will feel warmer in an instant

I went into this book with little to no knowledge about or expectations for it. That was the best thing I could have done, as I ended up really enjoying this. Living vicariously through Everly was such fun, especially at a time we're all confined to the sofa.

I like that her confidence grew significantly from the start of the book to when we said goodbye. Everly stood up for a lot of things throughout the book she would probably have simply gone along with at the start, for example the heavy drinking culture during her time in Bermuda.

To be honest, I wasn't a fan of any of the romantic potentials in this book, and I think this book would have been equally, if not more, powerful had they been completely taken out. I also liked seeing thr changes in Amy and Jack's relationship; seeing so many different types of relationship in this book is a gereat way to relate to an audience.

(Apologies- this was done 3rd June)Everly has had enough of useless dates and in the middle of the latest one decides to take
herself off on holiday. Quite why she chose Switzerland she really isn’t sure but now she
is here she intends making the most of it. She finished seeing her long term boyfriend a
short while ago and although she would like a companion she feels that there is more to
life than men. When a job opportunity presents itself she decides it is just what she
needs and an adventure is on the cards, albeit short term. We move from switzerland to
a country completely different. I enjoyed this and it has been researched well. It is far
more than a romance/girl makes good type read. As the blurb says it is a “feel -good
escapist read” that perhaps makes us question sometimes what we do, just because,
when we could be doing something far, far different within reality. I loved that Everly
found joy and calm in volunteering in various projects. My favourite phrase for
volunteers is “ Volunteers aren’t paid- not because they are worthless but because
they are priceless”. So much pleasure can be gained by giving something back.
Something perhaps everyone should try at least once. Life doesn’t come to us we
have to go out and get it. One life- live it!

The publisher advertises the book with "Eat, Pray, Love meets Bridget Jones", and it's a fair description with our main character travelling around the world to find herself again. She swaps the spiritual part (that I'm not a fan of anyway) for a time of luxury in Bermuda, that surprinsingly doesn't make her really happy. I liked it a lot that the author / character touches on those topics and in short comes to the conclusion that having lots of nice things and being able to party every night isn't all that great as it may sound. Her heart is more set on doing something meaningful, preferably charitable and involving animals.

Of course there also some men crossing her path. However, this alone doesn't make her a Bridget Jones, mostly because Fieldings writing style is so full of wit and esprit - and I didn't see that in Carrie Stone's writing.

Anyhow, I liked accompanying Everly on her travels and her dates. I actually would like to visit all three countries / islands myself now! I also appreciated the message that Carrie Stone gets across with this book: If you find yourself you'll (automatically) find happiness as well.

Passport to Happiness tells the story of Everly, a woman in her thirties who is unhappy with her personal and professional life. She is living in a small flat, working all the time with nothing to show for it, and dismal dating life. When she has a terrible date with a man from Switzerland, she has a moment. That moment and realization that she is extremely unhappy, starts her off on her own journey of growth and self-realization. Knowing that she does not want to go back to her old job and life after her trip, she ends up applying for a teaching job in Bermuda. Her final passport stamp is Bali, where she continues to grow and change.

Everly learns many valuable lessons in her journey about self-worth, friendship and love. She learns that money does not make her happy and having a man who is not what she really wants is not the answer either. Every place she settles allows her an opportunity to learn something about herself. She has highs, she has lows, but the way she deals with them changes as she becomes self-fulfilled. I love how her volunteer work fills her and makes her happy. There were some great characters that she meets along the way, and some that do not turn out to be who she thought they were, but they all play a role in her journey. Her sister is a bit annoying. She does not seem to want Everly to be happy, she just wants her home because that is where she needs her to be. There are many twists and turns in the story that lead Everly to her next discovery with a wonderful ending. This was my first book by Carrie Stone, but I will be looking for more. Her writing was descriptive and flowed well. This story will speak to everyone as we all have these journeys in our own lives.

This is the first but not the last book I have read written by this author. I loved how the characters are all living life to their fullest!

Everly Carter is a Teacher who is disillusioned with her lot. She’s recovering from the split with her boyfriend Jay. The prospect of joining her friend Tilly in Bermuda seems too good an opportunity to miss.
Her new found happiness with teaching/volunteering and enjoying the island leave her ready to move on to the next phase in her life.
A thoroughly enjoyable read. Carrie brought a little bit of tranquility to my Kindle and transported me to the other side of the world.

First of all - what an eye catcher. Yellow like sunflowers the cover caught my attention instantly. When I‘ve read the excerpt I got even more curious.

The language is fluid and based on that fact, the story line just flows. You can get on reading pretty fast and it‘s a nice kind of reading style.

The story itself is logically built and the storyline with its ups and downs a story full of surprises. The biggest surprise was her first stop - Switzerland. I‘ve never read a British romance which began in my home country. Like really never ever. Was nice to have something so different to all the other kind of similar stories. Also the Bermudas is another quite different place to the usual ones like the UK or the US.

The author did a great job and I really loved her choice of places, words and language. Well done!

Everly isn’t happy, she’s a teacher, and she’s good at it, but after her boyfriend’s betrayal, there has to be more to life right? A spur of the moment holiday shows how unfulfilled she is, and then a friend from her past suggests an experience of the lifetime in Bermuda.

Despite the beauty of her destination, and the island’s intrinsic interest, she finds out that her friend only wants to party, which is not what she seeks. Volunteering gets Everly closer to the real Bermuda, and she likes it, but her journey isn’t done.

Heading home, a series of incidents change her mind, and she instead takes a flight to Bali, where her journey of self-realisation takes off.

This is an enjoyable book, with lovely locations, full of vivid imagery, complex characters, who mirror Everly’s progress on her journey of personal discovery, and lots of romance. Easy to read, with a lovely main protagonist, this the perfect holiday escape novel.

I received a copy of this book from Harper Collins UK - One More Chapter via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Everly thought she had a very boring life and hadn't done anything. so when the opportunity to work in an international school for 6 months. in Bermuda came along she took. it. Her best friend Tilly lived there and Everly moved in with her. She then met Spencer who took her to all the best restaurants and hotels. Then she found out something and decided to leave and headed to Bali

Is there any cover you need on a grey, miserable morning such as this? ( If you’re not having such a morning, yay (!), but here we have it wet!;))

From the second I saw this book I was all in, and even more so when we arrived at a dinner table to find our lead, Everly, deciding that rotten dates shouldn’t be all there is to life. While I didn’t quite fully warm to Everly as she seemed an eensy weensy bit self absorbed, I settled into this warm read that was great at putting me in the lead’s position, as she tried to get her bearings with people telling her she’d be returning home from locations such as Switzerland, Bermuda and Bali. All in all a fun, easy going read that I enjoyed and read over two nights. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for the book in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed following Everly’s journey of self-discovery. Although she is a few years older than me, I felt that at the start of the book I could really relate to how Everly was feeling with life, which I think is why I warmed to her so much. To then see how she developed throughout the book, was both warming and inspiring.

You are transported to the places that Everly visits throughout the book, Switzerland, Bermuda and Bali, and it’s like you are there with her.

I was unsure how I would feel overall about this book because I found a couple of the secondary characters, Everly’s sister Amy and her friend Tilly, rather annoying. However, despite this it didn’t detract from how much I enjoyed the book.

This was the first of Carrie Stone’s books that I have come across, and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more.

This is a great summer read especially if you have a case of wanderlust.

MILD SPOILER ALERT
This book started off well and I felt that I could identify with Everly, after all who wouldn't want to take a break from their everyday life and go off on an adventure. As the story moved on however I thought she became quite smug and self righteous especially when she began to do more voluntary work. She seemed to consider herself superior and all her posturing about "giving something back" really started to grate on my nerves. At the same time though I thought the author's descriptions of some of the places she visited were really evocative and in my opinion lifted the book from merely mediocre to quite enjoyable.

Life doesn't always work out the way we choose, sometimes that plan takes a left turn and we end up coasting rather than grabbing experiences with both hands and taking chances - no matter how scary they may seem.

Our heroine Everly finds herself in a similar situation at the onset of this story. A past engagement gone wrong, working to pay the bills with no real happiness to be found. But after hiding away in the ladies during the latest disastrous date, she dons her big girl pants and books a spontaneous trip to Switzerland....as you do!!! Cue the marade of exotic locations in the form of Bermuda and Bali, she sets off in quest of happiness. But tropical backdrops and perfect sunsets don't automatically equal a joyful existence....there needs to be an internal shift of the mind to make this happen.

I loved everything about this book. This story had an instantly entertaining way of pulling me head first into the narrative and I thoroughly enjoyed travelling the globe with Everly. The picturesque locations were an undeniable dream come true, but I particularly preferred Everly's internal changes to her outlook on life. Life is what you make of it and she showed this in spades and I was inspired by her brave and bold decisions in her search to find happiness and her trust in the journey.

Passport to Happiness is pure sunshine on the page. I was wrapped up in this picture perfect creation and I urge you all to dive in and soak it up. You will not be disappointed.
