It’s not always easy being different, as Biriwita the blue frog is only too aware. He longs to be accepted at Croak College, the most famous school for frogs in Malawi, but the other students all turn their backs on him. He is just too different! The Frog Who Was Blue is a witty and charming tale underpinned by the message that being different to others is no bad thing. It will appeal to children aged 7-9, and fans of Faiz’s former books.
Faiz Kermani is publishing The Frog Who Was Blue to support the World Medical Fund (WMF), a medical charity working in Africa. WMF’s focus is on the region’s poorest and most vulnerable children, including AIDS orphans, whose practical and cost-effective programmes treat over 25,000 children every year in rural Malawi. This life-saving work relies entirely on donations. More information about the WMF is on their webpage, www.worldmedicalfund.org.

"I have to admit that frogs do make superb characters in children's stories, and Faiz Kermani's Blue Frog is a winner for me!" - Books Monthly

Faiz, this was a cute little book that was powerful in many ways, The message, of course, strong but not in your face or preachy. Second, the imagery was very nicely done and third, the frog choice just was so cute as well, not many choose frogs to be the main character, and it brought to mind books I read when I was a child, the books were about two frogs that were friends and ALL the pictures, I can remember staring at them for hours and making my own stories up in my head about what was going on, I think it was frog and toad.... ahhh, the memories... Thanks!

What a great time to read a book about differences to children! Biriwita is a blue frog who doesn't realize he will encounter obstacles when he applies to Croak College and all the other frogs are... green.
This book teaches that differences do not make us weird or outsiders, that frogs as well as people can make important contributions no matter the color of your skin. A heartwarming tale for all ages.

A lovely children's picture book about accepting differences, overcoming prejudice, and being who we are. A good story with a great underlying message, and vibrant, vivid illustrations.
