Washington D.C. Monsters

This is an excellent picture book, I really enjoyed it and it will definitely be a firm favourite.

I loved the way this book combines information about Washington, DC with a fun monster search! The level of difficulty seems perfectly matched to the age of child who will be reading the book. As a former fourth grade teacher, my students would have loved this book. I work with much younger children now, but I think they would enjoy trying to find the monsters as well. Great job with the illustrations as well as the informative text.

Washington D.C. Monsters: A Search-and-Find Book is written by Rebecca K. Moeller and illustrated by Lucile Danis Drouot. This book is part of the City Monsters series, which "takes you on a sightseeing adventure. Find the hidden little monsters as you discover big-city landmarks."

As an interactive story, children will learn about the capital of the United States, as they search and find adorable monsters throughout the colorful illustrations of various landmarks, such as the United States Capitol Building, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, National Air and Space Museum, and National Gallery of Art.

This easy-to-read board book is a charming children's travel book, which is geared towards younger readers, particularly ages three to eight.

I read this book with my 8 year old daughter to see what her opinion would be. She is a little beyond the look and find stage but she still absolutely loved this book as well as the rest in the series. She thought that it is a great book for little kids because it was a fun book that taught you stuff too. I would totally buy this book for my nephews and nieces. We had fun pointing out the monsters and we also learned some new facts along the way.

I have always said that I liked this series. And I still do. It is a quick look at fun places like Washington DC. It’s a travel guide that encourages you to see monsters everywhere you go. Plus, I love when I learn about something new, like the Awakening, a statue in Maryland.

This is a great way to introduce children to history and fact without making it boring. The facts are kept short and sweet but provide talking points with the children. The illustrations are engaging and bright, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I hope you to see more in the future.

Such a cute story about monsters exploring DC. I love how it highlighted all of the major monuments in the city. It makes me want to visit it now!

We love seek and find books. These books are a great way to keep children entertained.
Along with the activity the book also gives us a mini tour of Washington DC so is also educational whilst fun.
Would love to the see the monsters visit other capital cities

Washington D.C. monsters was a cute book touring the DC area in a way kids can easily follow. Each page has monsters hidden on it for children (and adults) to find. We had a lot of fun finding the monsters! I would have loved a bit more information about each location, but it was just right for a young child.

Washington D.C. Monsters is a really fun book. With a local place of interest on each page it is great to know a bit more about the state and having monsters hidden around on each page makes it even more of a fun read. The illustrations are bright and colourful which are attractive for the children to see and the monsters are hidden well as they are not too easy nor too hard. A brilliant book, would be great to see other places and countries in a book format like this one!

Cute, colorful, informative, and includes a game for the kiddos to play while reading. It ends a little abruptly, but I think that the children will really enjoy it.

This is an adorable younger children's version of Where's Waldo. It is simpler and incorporates fun monsters that have to be found. What I also love about this book is that it has an educational element to it that teach kids about different elements of Washington D.C.

This is a great concept for children to learn about the historical monuments and more in Washington D.C. It is a seek and find book with find the monsters on each page and also information on the attraction in Washington. I am an adult and had trouble finding some of the monsters which should make it challenging for children. The monsters are not scary they are actually very cute. The pages and illustrations are vivid and well drawn. Sights include the Washington Monument, National Cherry Blossom Festival, Smithsonian, and more. Each page tells how many monsters you have to find. I recommend this book for anyone planning a trip with their young ones or for ages 5+.

This is a fun and quick introduction for a young child that is perfect for when they are getting ready for their first trip to DC, or even just to start learning about our nation’s capital!. The illustrations show some locations and monuments of DC that kids will visit.

This book is also interactive as it has a search and find element to it: Monsters also visit Washington DC!!! Find the monsters in the book! I can also see the kids looking for the monsters as they visit these particular sites. Some of the monsters can be found almost instantly, some the kids would have to search for a while before they find them. Which can add to more fun with this book.

This fun book is geared to three to six-year-olds. While reading, young children will visit many spots in DC including the National Gallery, the Natural History Museum, the Air and Space Museum and the National Zoo among others. On each two page spread, there is information on the location along with the number of monsters who are hiding in the picture. Young children can enjoyably both learn and play as they look at this short book.

This book is great for curious young minds looking for more information on DC and includes a fun monster search! This book has a wide age range because young pre-schoolers would like the monsters and school aged kids would enjoy the facts and information. Will be reading this for years!

This is an extraordinarily fun educational children's book! It is packed with information about Washington D.C. but it also includes games (finding the hidden monsters on each page) and is beautifully illustrated!
A must-have!

My geography loving 8 year old loved Texas Monsters so I knew we needed to check out Washington D.C. Monsters. He has a secondary interests in presidents so he finds Washington D.C. Interesting too. We enjoyed this book as well. These "Monster" books are a great way to introduce your kids to geography and help them learn about other states and landmarks to go visit. I can't wait to see what else comes up in this series. I would love to see Philedelphia, New York City, New Orleans, ect. The options are limitless. I recommend this book to any aged kids. The monsters make it fun and may spark a new interest!

Our thoughts: Monsters are everywhere, in these books!! So now while you might be agreeing to the stories your little one is making about monsters under the bed or in the closet, you can also point out the monsters in these books and show them how cute they are. So, not really anything to fear but cute, friendly monsters that you can play hide and seek with. And in the process of finding the monsters that hide in each page (very cleverly, I should say), discover sights to see in each city and a cool fact or two as well on each page. All in all, a fun, informative read that is play as well. This book is geared towards the younger readers (up to eight years old, but I have to say, I and my kids had fun looking for the monsters too, and they are 11 and 14 years old now:)) and will be perfect for teaching them about different cities (maybe before a visit to that city).

I have read a few of the books in this series already and these are the next ones (and am sure, more coming in the future that I will look forward to, even though I have kids who are 11+

Washington DC Monsters is a search and find book about the lone star state. In this book are a lot of places you can check out in DC like the Washington Monument, Cherry Blossoms, and a creepy statue that is near a hotel I stayed at in DC once. (ha.) There are a lot of cool illustrations throughout the book and throughout you can look for all the cute hidden monsters on all of the pages! This is a really fun way to teach kids about new places in a fun and interesting way!

Reminds me of the Highlights magazines I used to read when I was a kid. The seek and find was always my favorite, and this is like an upgraded version of that. I think kids will love it!

This book is wonderful! It is set in Washington DC and takes kids on a journey around to some of the famous places to visit while also being a search and find book ! The illustrations are bright and pleasing to the eye and also very detailed to show the landmarks and places being visited. Each spread has a goal for how many monsters to find and some are pretty tricky... these monsters are great at disguises.

The book is a great way to be educational and learn about a new city but also fun to have as an activity book. I think parents and young children will adore this one in their collection. And there are other cities available too! I chose to read this one because I am from the DC area and wanted to see what it showcased. I think it did a wonderful job!
