Perfect for 7 – 9 year olds, Atlas of Dinosaur Adventures is a guide to the prehistoric era and dinosaurs around the world. See a battle between two Triceratops, hide from the terrifying pack-hunting Deinonychus (on which the nightmarish Velociraptors in Jurassic Park were actually based) and watch a baby Pteranodon learn to fly! Each colourful spread focuses on the behaviour of a particular dinosaur, but there are plenty of other dinos to spot and learn about in the background of each scene too. Maps and fact boxes reveal more information, including the meaning of the dinosaur’s name, its size and its diet. An ideal gift for any child fascinated by dinosaurs, this is a great addition to Wide Eyed Editions’ Atlas Of series, which also includes animal adventures and miniature adventures! Review to be published on: November 29, 2017 My son has recently taken a liking to dinosaurs so it was a given that when I saw this book on NetGalley that I would request it so we could review it. The copy I received from NetGalley was only a few pages, so basically a sampler, but it was enough for me to get a good idea of what the rest of the book is like. There's a two-page spread for each "main" dinosaur. There's an introduction for each dinosaur which describes what would have been a typical moment for that particular dinosaur (prey getting hunted, etc.). The illustration is one whole picture spanning the two pages and includes not only the main dinosaur but other animals and dinosaurs that might have been in that area/time period and interacted with the main dinosaur. There are trivia scattered all over the page related to the dinosaurs and animals. There's also a small box containing information on the dinosaur, specifically: name meaning, where the first fossil was found, period, family, diet, and size. I love the anecdotes and the trivia I learned, such as how one dinosaur fossil was found by a child and another was found by a sheep farmer. The illustration style and colors are not my cup of tea but they are a good fit with the topic. I did like that there are little Easter eggs in the illustrations. I first noticed it in the Pterodaustro page and thought I might be mistaken until I saw another in the Pteranodon page. I went back to the other pages and sure enough there are little funny things in other dinosaurs' pages as well. MY SON'S REACTION: My son loved this one of course. He's familiar with the Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, and Baby Pteranodon, but not the others yet. He liked observing and noting what was going on in the drawings. I think this will be a good reference book for when he's older. |

As a long time supporter of the Wide-Eyed Editions Atlas of series, I am very excited to see a new addition has been added to it. At first I was skeptical about having another dinosaurs book released because of the abundance of choices on the market, but Wide-Eyed Editions is capable of creating its own niche and making this collection extremely desirable. The usual high quality of artwork, and concise text on facts are both easy for young kids and even for adults. I personally own the rest of the book in the series, not intend for my toddler son but for myself, and no one in my household has ever been disappointed. Even my husband who seldom reads for leisure praises each and every book in this series consistently. Great work, Wide-Eyed Editions! Thanks for letting me to review the excerpt before my actual purchase. I will post a detail review on social media after finish reading the entire book since the e-gallery version is only a fraction of the actual product. |

I liked the pictures but it was slightly boring. I liked how it has all the facts, but I think what would have been good is a pronunciation guide. I would probably check it out of the library, but I wouldn't buy it. |

*Read with my 5-year-old sister. Surprisingly, she knows a lot about dinosaurs! And I know nothing! :D tbh, I don't think this picture book is for children. It has lots of information in it, or maybe because I don't know much about dinosaurs I felt it was a lot for children. However, the art is amazing. I was flipping the pages and my sister got the name of the dinosaur even before I read its name! So, I think she liked it more than I did. :D |

Although my formatting was not correct, I could still tell that this will be a book that becomes popular with the dinosaur loving crowd. Children who love dinosaurs don't want to know just a little bit, that want depth and this book works at providing some of that depth. I believe children will enjoy paging through this book time and time again. |

Whilst I was only provided with a 10 page sampler by the publisher I really enjoyed what I read - it is full of great facts, it has an excellent layout, impressive images and I learnt quite a bit - an ideal purchase or present for dinosaur fans out there! |

Read this with my 6-year-old son who is a big dinosaur fan and he really enjoyed learning about the dinosaurs and the great illustrations. He enjoyed some of the comical additions such as the Trex wearing the bib and the Pteranodon's wearing flying gear! |

For a first read before bed, I probably should have started earlier. My kids are obsessed with dinosaurs and were amazed by all the appropriate parts. I really prefer a more traditional way to read, but the kids enjoy books all over the place. |

Looked over this one with my two-year old son, who has an abnormal interest in and memory for dinosaur facts. It was still quite a bit over his head, so I'd reccomend it more for a 8+ crowd. Still, interesting facts and colorful illustrations. Would not reccomend an e-reader version, though. |

A book to imagine adventures and learn This book has an interesting format, poster type, where you can see many environmental and species characteristics, with very specific descriptive notes of the most important information. It addresses recent fossil discoveries that shed new and lesser-known information about these animals. For my son it was a pleasant experience to look into all the details of each scene and imagine the adventures that could have happened while learning. |
