Quality reproductions and interesting essay on the art and life of Georgia O'Keeffe.

We New Mexicans hold Georgia close to our hearts. Most homes have a print of their favorite of her works hanging prominently (my mother has three) and most museums and Galleries here have exhibits of her works. You won't find many New Mexicans of any age or color who don't know who she was and what she contributed to art, our state and the face of equality over the years. I was so excited to received this electronic copy of Alicia Guzman's biography from Netgalley and Frances Lincoln, Quatro Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me.

Interestingly most of my contemporaries (baby boomers) were not familiar with her NYC 'canyon' paintings until they were added to the traveling O'Keeffe exhibit fairly recently. My mother spoke of them often through my childhood though - she had seen a couple of them in a museum in her youth on a trip to Santa Fe. I didn't see how anything about New York City could be so enthralling - until I too saw them. And just as she used the non-color white for emphasis in her works, she used example to further the freedoms and equality in the lives of women and immigrants.

Alicia Guzman has many many things to share with us about why the art of Georgia O'Keeffe is a living, moving representation of life and art. This is a book you should read no matter where you live if you love painting and painters who speak to you without words. You will learn new things about Georgia, and if it is a first meeting for you with Ms. O'Keeffe you will be bowled over.

It is wonderful to see our Georgia recognized for her contributions to art and the humanities. O’Keeffe received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Gerald Ford in 1977 and the National Medal of Arts from Ronald Reagan in 1985. She was a triumph of womanhood and art and will not be forgotten.

Most of us who think we know the work and life of Georgia O'Keeffe will find this book essential. The selection is not overwhelming but very targeted to showing the development of the ideas and the technical ability of O'Keeffe. Her influences and ideas are given in a respectful way that appreciates the steps in her development. The profound simplicity came from a great depth of ability and vision that developed into one of the greatest American painters of the Twentieth Century.

Comprehensive, accessibly written and beautifully illustrated exploration of Georgia O’Keeffe and her work. Essential reading for any art lover.

Georgia O'Keeffe at Home tries to get at the heart of what drove O'Keeffe to create and even live as she did. Guzman manages to illuminate the artist's life without getting bogged down in too much detail. The timeline jumped around in a way that I found a bit confusing at times, but overall, I enjoyed this book.

I enjoyed the book--the photos and text. It is a fascinating glimpse into the life of a reclusive, yet intriguing artist. I highly recommend it. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sharing it with me.

This biography of Georgia O'Keefe focuses on the many places she lived and how those homes inspired her art. Many readers will be familiar with her New Mexico home but this book explores all her other homes as well beginning with her childhood homes. The text is accompanied with some wonderful photographs of the artist and the places she lived. Enjoy

Sadly I was unable to download this book as could not find an app to do so. I today discovered ‘Digital Editions’ which would enable me to read this format but the book has been archived.
