Marketing Plan
6 months pre-publication
- Author has a broad online presence across social media but needs to update her website, and increase her interactions in order to reach the many fans of her previous publications. She should also set up (and burn up) an Instagram account. Some coaching will be required.
- Marketer will pitch long lead targets (i.e. Good Housekeeping, Real Simple) with excerpt/preview rights, formatted content (i.e. top ten secrets to Sewing Machine Magic), etc.
3 months pre-publication
- Marketer will send ARCs to long lead women’s magazines (print circ. 500K+), major craft and DIY websites (250K+uvpm), and industry leader print magazines (i.e. Sew Simple, Sew News)
- Marketer and/or author will approach Associations and Clubs i.e. The American Sewing Guild, Association of Sewing and Design Professionals with offers of sponsorship.
- Video demonstration/teaser – produced in-house if possible
Publication
- Primary pitch of finished books to national media (with DIY/Craft component), major national daily newpapers, all crafts/fiber arts/sewing magazines
- Secondary pitch of finished books to city newspapers, arts/crafts/sewing blogs, women’s interest sites and DIY sites
3 months post-publication
- Switch to author driven media outreach (tools and trick will be shared) and follow up
