Description

At age fifteen Nikki Leonti signed a record deal and had a successful Christian music career until three years later she became pregnant out of wedlock, which caused many to turn away from her and stop playing her music. When she envisioned her future, she didn’t foresee her life falling apart. But life happened, and suddenly she was a single parent.
Many single parents feel alone, ashamed, hopeless, confused, or just plain tired—tempted to give into the negative voices that say it’s impossible to fulfill the dreams of their youth. From personal stories of overcoming to Scriptures that were her anchor during the most difficult moments of single parenting, Nikki shares transparently her journey of experiencing God’s redeeming grace.
This book will help you:Re-center your heart and mind towards what is good.Navigate through the uncertainty that comes with parenting solo.Discover that your “baggage” can be the source of the greatest joy and restoration.Get back on track to fulfill the incredible purpose he has for your life!

From the time I was born, my mother always made sure I felt secure in life. Yes, times have been tough, but we’ve gotten through everything together. With every obstacle, there’s been a lesson learned. She has taught me how to get through life and stay strong. I couldn’t ask God for a better mom. This book is an authentic representation of who my mom is and what we’ve gone through. I hope it encourages all of the moms who read it and reminds them that they’re not alone.

—Jaslyn Edgar, Nikki’s daughter

This is a life-changing book for single moms. It is so hard juggling life, kids, and your own heart when you are single. So often we overlook ourselves in the process of taking care of everyone else. So take time to enjoy this thirty-one-day process of finding yourself and your purpose.

—Kimberly Jones Pothier, author of Beautifully Whole

Every single mother feels like a ship alone at sea at times. Single mothers have become the modern-day widow, and the percentage rises every year. To be seen and to know they are not alone is a rare gift to any mother. Regardless how a woman finds herself in the role of single parenting, to feel she is not alone and can raise exceptional humans is all the encouragement she sometimes needs. Nikki offers encouragement and hope that all is not lost, and that heroes sometimes look like women who are both mother and father to their kids.

—Rita Springer, songwriter, singer, leader

A book filled with short, really insightful help and thoughts for single mums out there - we so often (rightly) put ourselves last, but this was a chance to just stop...catch my breath for a moment...God will hear.

A sweet book filled with refreshing honesty from an underrepresented part of Christianity. Single mothers will love this book filled with advice and devotions that can be done in a stolen quiet five minutes.

All Things Beautiful: 31 Devotions for Single Moms is a devotional written by a flawed Christian who is willing to share parts of her story. Sometimes devotions can be a little too vague or too perfect. With this book, Nikki Leonti Edgar has created a devotional for those of us who need something that acknowledges that life is messy.

Edgar comes to the book with a divorce, children who had custody with their father that she visited as often as she could, and a current marriage with more children. She has been to the hard, messy places of single parenting and divorce. Those of us with even just parts of the same story can relate to her journey, which brings more meaning to these devotions.

Each devotion is short and each is followed by a section called Beauty Mark, which gives a final thought, a Bible verse, a prayer, and a journal prompt. They can be read in just 2 or 3 minutes. Add a few minutes to pray and follow her journaling prompts, and you can still fit this into 10 minutes at the start or end of your day (or anywhere you can squeeze it in).

At the end of the book, Edgar has included a section with Bible verses broken down by topics like comfort, patience, and faith. These are handy when you need quick inspiration.

I recommend this book for single and divorced moms and dads (because even though this book describes a single mom, I think the dads would relate, also). Also, I think married moms would relate to parts of this book, as well, because motherhood is a somewhat universal journey, although it takes many forms.

All Things Beautiful is a must read for all moms. I love how Nikki talks about getting over the thoughts of shame and loneliness of being a single mom. This devotional frees us to silence those lies and doubts of being a good mother and just live.

“All things beautiful” is really a devotional that can put back hope and encouragement into a single parent’s life. I found her quick stories relatable, short simple and to the point. I like how it’s a way to get back into a habit of memorizing or reading a quick verse—-prayer is written down—-and her relatable story bit that is down right encouraging because sometimes we need to hear that nitty gritty story!

For a short quick devotional that is something you can remember throughout the day—this is perfect.
