I love a good unreliable narrator, and the conceit of Jess' story is that she can't possibly be that - she has a photographic memory and complete autobiograpical recall, an astronomically rare combination. I like Jess particularly because she is rather unlikeable - but you as the reader can understand a level of arrogance when you can't possibly recall something wrongly. And then...doubt starts to seep in. Is Jess really infallible? What really happened to her room mate? Why are the other girls being so friendly? Who is Dan? Why is there a new teacher? Who left that note? Why does Jess avoid CCTV?

Wait, wait...what is The Programme?

The Truth About Lies is layer upon layer of mystery, told by someone who might be completely accurate...or might be going out of her mind. What is the truth? You won't know unless you read it, and I recommend that you do...

An interesting book that is very well written told by protagonist who might be telling the truth or going out of her mind. This book kept me reading and I couldn't put it down. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good thrilling read.

This was deliciously suspenseful and full of action, secrets and lies. Jess is a fantastic character, unique and tormented by her past. Most of the things that the program put her through are only skimmed over, but the effects of them are so obvious in her voice and actions. She's so traumatised and closed off. And she just feels very, very real.

There are so many mysteries here. First in the facts surrounding Hanna's death and how much Jess did or didn't do to encourage her along and second in Jess's history. In the details of the program and in her mum's death. It's so interesting that right from the start Jess knows all the answers, all of them locked away in her memory, or so she thinks.

I have to say, I enjoyed every single second of this book. I loved the characters and the plot. It was just a brilliant book from start to finish.
