Thankyou to NetGalley, Bloodhound Books and Andrew Barrett for the opportunity to read this novel.
I was over the moon to receive an advanced readers copy of No Time To Die. I have read novels by Andrew Barrett in the past, so was dying to see what the second book in the CSI Eddie Collins would be like. And I was definitely not left disappointed.
I really like the "warts and all " demeanor of the main character Eddie. The storyline was well thought out and keeps the reader entertained.
I honestly don't think there would be too many people who didn't enjoy No Time To Die.

No Time To Die is the second book in the Eddie Collins series. I would probably suggest reading the books in order, although it did read easily enough as a stand alone. I think readers will benefit though from getting to know Eddie better by reading The Third Rule prior to this one.

The story gets off to a good start with a murder happening within the first pages. The death toll doesn't stop there, which, as a crime lover, is always good news when it comes to fiction. I have to admit I struggled slightly at the start as we are introduced to quite a few characters, quite quickly and the story bounces back and forth amongst them. It settles down though of which by then I was fully invested in the story.

It's hard to say too much about this story as there is a certain surprise for Eddie as well as the reader and it plays quite a big part in this story line, making it difficult to say anything without spoiling it for others.

The story deals with various topics, one being domestic abuse, of which does make for uncomfortable reading. The author handles it well though and it certainly had me going through an array of emotions.

Living in Leeds where the books in the series are set, was very much a bonus for me. I could easily visualise all the areas the author describes and it brought the story to life in my head.

No Time To Die is a dark and tense read of which starts off at a steady pace and increases towards the end. If you are looking for something a bit different to the many detective crime novels out there, then the CSI Eddie Collins series will certainly come as a refreshing change.

Another exhilarating THRILL ride for our CSI Eddie Collins. This time he is dealing with gangland murders, rapists, bent coppers and a very big undercover operation. Oh and not forgetting his love interest.
This is the second in this series and I am devouring these books. Eddie is the main character, he is tough but you can't help liking the guy. He always get to the truth. I love all CSI stuff, finger prints etc.
His sense of humour and his witty remarks are very entertaining. Can't wait to read the next in this series. Happy reading.
I would like to thank the author Andrew Barrett, Bloodhound books and Net.galley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for giving an honest review.

"No Time To Die" is the second book in the Eddie Collins series by crime writer Andrew Barrett. Having thoroughly enjoyed the first book entitled "The Third Rule", I wanted to continue with this entertaining and interesting series. This was originally released under the title "Black By Rose" published in July 2013. Although I feel this would work as a stand alone it would be advantageous to be privy to Eddie's development and background - information that was revealed in the first book.

I really love this series! You are landed right into the middle of the action in the first pages when poor Eddie discovers a dead body in his home. I did struggle a little at the beginning as there were quite a few characters introduced to us and the POV changes between them. You do get used to it though and once you do it's a sterling and fascinating rollercoaster ride. I particularly enjoy the forensics and how they are involved in helping to solve the case. I am a big fan of Eddie as a character, he doesn't take any bull from anyone and his tenacity is to be admired. He has a great sense of humour and there are lots of witty comments made by him throughout the book.

This is a fabulous read that will keep you turning the pages. Once I grasped the characters I was fully invested in the storyline and what the conclusion would eventually be. This is a refreshing take on the crime fiction genre using the CSI tag to intrigue potential readers. There is plenty of tension which Barrett ratchets up significantly towards the end of the book. I look forward to continuing my love affair with this series in book three.

Many thanks to Bloodhound Books for an ARC. I was not required to post a review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

No Time To Die by Andrew Barrett
CSI Eddie Collins #2

Action-packed with twists and turns this police procedural is filled with mystery and suspense, good and bad and some characters in between, a hard time for many as the police use a secret task force to bring down gangs in their area. There are evil gangsters, rape, murder, abuse, corrupt cops and surprises around every corner. Eddie might find romance…or not. He might have a job…or not. He is on the fence about the future but always is in the job of being a CSI for the benefit of the client and not for the government or anyone else.

I read the first book in the series and have to say I much preferred this one. I was able to relate to this story fully and enjoyed watching Eddie come into his own. I am eager to find out what he will do in the next book and how the Major Crime Unit will shake down once the dust settled after the end of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloodhound books for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This is the second book in the Eddie Collins series, previously titled Black By Rose, and republished today under the new name "No Time to Die". Set two years after the events of The Third Rule, this is a straight police procedural, with no mention of the dystopian elements of the first book, and no political elements to the plot. It could be read as a standalone, although it would be a lot more satisfying if you read the first book.

Pulled out of a crime scene by his superior because it involves the murder of an undercover policeman and his wife, and the Major Crimes Unit is taking over, Eddie, now sober and in control of his life, but no less misanthropic, resigns in disgust, only to be recruited by MCU itself. They have been trying to take down the Crosbys, a family of gangsters, but crucial evidence disappears, victims are too afraid to talk, and the police fear that removing them will leave room for ever worse criminals. Then one of the kingpin's sons is found murdered, and he will stop at nothing to punish the perpetrator...

This was just as dark, compulsive and twisty as the first book, but quite different in plot and themes. This had a lot of violence against women, in many forms, which was hard to read about, but is also hard to talk about without spoilers. There is rape, cruelty, misogyny, physical and emotional abuse, and, worst of all for me, murder of an animal. In fact, had I known that the poor cat was going to die, I would not have read this, although to be fair this is quick and not gratuitous. I just wish books came with warnings on particular topics.
It's still a fantastic thriller and I'm not going to mark it down for my specific no-go area.

I liked the way Eddie is evolving as a character, and how more of his motivation and sense of honour is revealed, now he's not a self-pitying heap. He's still a prick to his colleagues - not all of them deserve it! The plot is extremely well drawn - as before, you don't know how he's going to bring all the storylines together, but he does, and happily most of the baddies get what's coming to them, and hopefully the one who doesn't, will in a future book.

Happily I have the next two books waiting on my Kindle, and their imminent publication dates are a wonderful excuse to bump them up my reviewing queue. Many thanks to Bloodhound and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love this series, Eddie is brilliant at his job but doesn't suffer fools gladly, he is a bit of a slob but I think he must have that something as he seems to get his fair share of attention from the ladies. The book is based in and around Leeds which is great for me as I recognise a lot of the places, it is fast paced but I managed to keep up with it. All in all a brilliant crime thriller.

Another really good book in the Eddie Collins series. As with The Third Rule, it is a fast paced thriller. There are quite a lot of different characters to get to grips with, and the reason I've only given it four stars is because it was initially quite hard for me to work out who everyone was and where they fitted into the plot and I was initially a bit confused. If you like crime thrillers, I'd thoroughly recommend this one!

This title was previously published as Black by Rose. No Time to Die is book number two in the Eddie Collins series, best read in order but would still read okay as a standalone. This book is much shorter than book one, thankfully… But another belter of a story.

I can see this series is growing stronger and better with each book. It was nice to be back with the familiar characters and hooked into another brilliant story. Another page turner which you can lose yourself in. Gripping, thrilling, suspense filled. This book gets a little more personal for Eddie Collins… I CANT WAIT to continue this series and see what happens in book three.

This series is shaping up to be brilliant! Fast paced and easy to devour. A well deserved four stars, a series I would recommend to you all! A series that I am throughly enjoying. You’re bound to love it too.

Second book in the Eddie Collins CSI series.
If you haven't read the first book in the series "The Third Rule" I think you'll get more enjoyment out of this book by reading the first book before this one. Yes it can be read as a stand alone but to get the full flavor and understanding of the Eddie Collins Character read them in order..
Be aware that you have to be paying full attention at the start of the book to keep track of who is who.
This is not a cozy mystery and some language terms are used but not to the point that it becomes offensive but only as part of the story. I find Andrew Barrett an enticing story teller that make some hard and sensitive subjects come to live as spouse abuse, corruption within the police force. I felt good about the ending and actual like this book more then the first one. Can't wait to start the third book to see how things are developing from here. No cliffhanger endings in these book.

I have eagerly been waiting for the books in this series to be re-released and I have easily come to think of the series as one of my favourites currently available.

Eddie is a fabulous character and I love his interaction with colleagues and members of the public, he is a genuine guy, witty and acerbic and if I am honest were we to meet in real life, I think we would probably hate each other as I can see a lot of my personality traits in him at times!!

This is a great story and I loved the plot. The pace for the book is spot on and thankfully it is quite a bit shorter than the previous book in the series which is always going to appeal to me as I love fast paced, shorter books to really keep me hooked in.

This is the second book in the series and whilst I do think you will get more out of them if you do read them in order, this ne reads fine to me as a stand alone.

4.5 stars from me for this one rounded up to 5 stars for Goodreads and Amazon – thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended!!

This book was an excellent read. The main character is an old timer working as a CSI. He tries to do the right thing in his job, but police policies and politics get in the way. This book is action packed from the beginning to the end. There is violence, corruption, and mobsters. I couldn't put it down once I started it. The more you read about Eddie the more you understand and like him. I highly recommend this book and author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this suspenseful story! Eddie Collins is at his best in this one. Slade Crosby thinks he is in the clear now that Eddie is no longer on the case, but little does Slade know! Eddie may not be 'on the case' on the books, but he isn't going to let Slade get away with killing an undercover police officer. If you like forensic stories, don't miss out on the Eddie Collins series! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this story.

I love how our main guy Eddie Collins, CSI is probably the best investigator around. The top dogs want him on their team but his peers are a different story. The reason they don’t want him on their team is probably because he is the best and they don’t want him showing them up so to speak. But it might be that Eddie looks deeper into a crime scene than most to find the truth while others just wants to solve a crime and could care less about the truth as long as they can put someone behind bars and they can get a star by their name.

He is sent to investigate a crime scene that looks like murder/suicide but is it? Another investigator walks in who won’t listen to Eddie’s truth. They have it out and Eddie not being one to take anything off of anyone has had it with this dude and walks out after turning in his badge. Eddie comes home to find a dead body his house.

No Time to Die covers murder, rape, domestic violence, love, being taken hostage and being beat. No Time to Die will have you jumping from one emotion to another with twist and turns on every page.

I love how No Time to Die has all these characters and we get to know the story from their own point of view and then we get to figure out how all these character’s stories and lives are going to intertwine. No Time to Die is a very intense read that will keep you hanging on for more. I can’t wait for more of Eddie Collins, CSI.

No Time to Die is for all fans of murder, mystery, suspense and thrillers.

I LOVED 'The Third Rule' so I just knew I was going to LOVE this one! And man did I!!!
Eddie Collins is quite a character and I adore him! The action, mystery, and over all story are so amazing that I read it all in one sitting. I could not put it down! I can't wait for this author's next book!

What a great follow up story. I did wonder if the brilliance of Eddie's first book could be continued. I'm delighted to say that not only does it continue, it gets better. Despite being 'on the wagon', Eddie is a infuriatingly moralistic as ever. And damn the man, he's always right. This is an excellent story, complex and intricately woven, with all the strands coming together at the end. There are twists and turns a plenty, that kept me on my toes right to the final word. The characters are so well drawn and believable. The work of crime scene examiners is incredibly complex and detailed, it seems to me, in effect, they are the ones who should be called 'detectives'. Without their work, no crime would ever be solved. I finished this book in 24 hours and now can't wait for the third. About time we saw Eddie Collins on TV!
