Description

Moving can be tough!

Just ask newcomer, ten-year-old Toby Perkins. Recently uprooted from his home in Colorado, Toby finds himself trapped in his new neighborhood with no other kids, and a soap opera addicted mother. As Toby's summer of doom sets in, an unexpected friend makes her first appearance--the girl next door, Hailey

Bossy and demanding, Toby gives in to Hailey's adventurous ways, who is unaware all Toby can think about is meeting other boys. As the fifth-grade begins, Toby is estatic to hang with his new crowd, only to realize their company isn't quite the same.

Cozy in and follow this duo through their three book series to sixth-grade camp. Crushes, talent shows, self conscious and embarrassing moments lie ahead for this pair as we root for their friendship and adore their heartwarming adventures.

Guaranteed to make you laugh, smile, and reach out to that long lost friend you've been missing.

Perfect read for ages 9+

This is a sweet little middle grade story about a boy who has moved to a new town and it feeling housebound and friendless. One persistent girl from his year at school befriends him during the summer break, and – even though he’s embarrassed – he secretly finds himself enjoying her company.
I think this was a pretty realistic depiction of children in the final years of primary/elementary school, and – hopefully – it’s a read that will appeal to readers of any gender.

Boy talk about a blast from the past. My best friend in high school was a guy (i am a girl). It is hard enough to move for a young child and make new friends while leaving old ones. I can imagine what it was like to move from Colorado to Washington D.C. I did the opposite and moved from a big town to small one. You go through all sorts of emotions in this book. It has it all. This is a great coming of age book. After all middle school is hard enough. Toby and Hailey's story is a heartwarming, compassionate story of friendship. I recommend this book to 10+ boy or girl. I look forward to more Toby Tales.
I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Toby is 10 and has to move. He has a hard time adjusting and then he meets Hailey. He wants guy friends, not a girl, but she won't take no for an answer and soon they become good pals.

I loved all the feels, not a love story but a good friend, moving sucks, kind of feels.

I enjoyed my time spent reading this book and recommend it.

Thanks for the complimentary arc in exchange for an honest review, NetGalley
