Description

With Watch Me Read and Draw: On the Farm, kids can read a story and learn to draw 11 animals and objects from the farm, and then complete the tale with stickers!

What’s better than reading and drawing? Doing them together, in the same book! The Watch Me Read and Draw book series is special because it blends two things together that kids love: reading and drawing!

It’s easy and fun to learn to draw, especially when there’s a story to read and lots of stickers. In Watch Me Read and Draw: On the Farm, a city mouse named Flynn visits his country-mouse cousin to discover everything that happens on a farm each morning. Throughout the story, readers will learn to draw a farm full of friendly animals, step by step. The step-by-step projects in this book will help young artists learn to draw a mouse, baby birds, a cow, a sheep, an owl, a pony, a cat, a pig, and a chicken, as well as a tractor and a barn!

Each page features easy-to-follow instructions for drawing all of the characters from the story, one step at a time. Basic shapes that kids will recognize make it easy to follow along and learn how to draw. The flip-out drawing pad also offers drawing prompts and simple shapes for a jump-start, making it enjoyable and fun to draw favorite farm animals. Plus, there’s a whole bunch of colorful stickers inside to reward them as they complete the story along the way, and a farm scene at the end to make their very own! It’s the perfect starter drawing book for kids who love to read and draw.

This is an appealing book for young artists and their adults. The book tells a simple story of a visit to the farm. This provides the opportunity to show all of the animals that are found there, along with barns, tractors, etc. Perfect for teaching young children the names of the animals and of course you can teach the sounds too. There is also a page showing how to draw the animals in simple steps. The back of the book has stickers and more space for creating artwork. All in all, an excellent activity book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book is a very creative way to get children to interact with what they are reading so that they can become more involved with the story. Each section of the story gives step-by-step instructions on how to draw one thing per page, so that children have to pause and think about what they are drawing and how it relates to what they've just read. Awesome idea!

This is the Second book by Samantha Chagollan & Mattia Cerato that we have read. We enjoyed it. My little ones liked the story. They loved the stickers and enjoyed trying to copy the drawings. I will purchase more of her books.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

Pros: This little book will excite you and your young reader when it comes to drawing the animals. Although slightly tricky, it was still fun nonetheless. We like the idea of placing the stickers in their designated spots as well.

Cons: The drawings are a little hard to copy, but there are trace versions at the end, which makes it worth it.

Overall: Unfortunately, our library tries to refrain from purchasing books with stickers. However, this book is so much fun and will make the list of recommended books.

I reviewed this book to see if it was something I could use in my secondary classroom to teach certain English skills. While it wasn't helpful for that, I found it a quite charming book I will share with my grandchildren.
