Description

Danisha is an African Canadian girl in grade 8 whose strict grandmother reveals (through her failing memory) an exotic past life. As her memory drifts, she believes she is a jazz singer in a Detroit lounge in the 1940's, a time when mixed relationships were frowned on and often gangsters ruled the music scene. A very nice book, very readable and with some race, history and music culture insight, also sprinkled with some mystery. This book is indeed a very good one that I recommend if you are into a bit of gangster style!
