About the Author

Wang Yu, formerly Wang Zhigang, is the librarian of the Chongqing Literature and History Research Institute and vice chairman of the Chongqing Writer's Association. Formerly a professor at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, his award-winning work includes five novels, a collection of short stories and numerous screenplays. His screenplay The Lightning of War was adapted into the film The Young Friends and won first prize for a creative literary work in Sichuan province. His novel The Spirit of the Long River (co-authored with Huang Jiren) won the prize for literature and arts in Chongqing in 2010 and was adapted into a 30-episode TV series by Wenguang News Media Group.
