Wow, just Wow! After reading Amazing Grace I was so excited to read Escape to Giddywell Grange. What an absolute delight of a book! Kim Nash has a superb writing style and her characters and the part they play in the story are outstanding. Even the smallest of characters brings something special to the book. This truly is a uplifting story about people, things and even dogs coming into your life at just the right time and just when you need them.
I absolutely flew through this book, I haven't been able to put it down all day, reading at every opportunity I have had. Kim Nash pulled me into Maddy's world and I didn't want to leave. This is an absolute must read!

Even better than Amazing Grace which was Kim’s first novel. Loved the characters and story line.. Another feel good, cosy read that made me want to give up my life and open a dog boarding kennels. This book gave me a lovely warm hug! Highly recommended.

What an utterly wonderful story. I fell in love with all the characters straight away.

Beautifully written and heartwarming I read this all in one go rather than go to Tesco.

I would love a Baxter of my own (I did picture Roni on his back though I must say when reading about him asleep).

We first meet Maddy when her life is about to be turned upside down. My heart went out to this woman I had only just met but yet already, I felt connected to her on so many levels.

The author has yet again created a protagonist that many women will be able to relate to. Life is always full of uncertainties and luckily for Maddy, life gives her a glimpse of what life is like away from a demanding career.

There are more than a few laugh out loud moments in this novel. It was great to see Maddy being pushed out of her comfort zone in so many ways. Rediscovering things about herself that she had no longer had the time to do as well as discovering things she hadn’t realised she was capable of. All in all it makes for a compulsive read that I struggled to tear myself away from.

The writing feels effortless and with every page it kept me wanting more. There’s just something warm and cosy that emanates throughout this book and was somewhere that I couldn’t wait to escape back to.

Escape To Giddywell Grange was a heartwarming, feel good fun read that is guaranteed to lift your spirits. A wonderful blend of romance, friendship, relationships as well as following your heart. Another truly fabulous read by the author and can’t wait to see what she brings to us next.

Oh I loved this from the start- a real pick me up of turning life around and finding it’s real values. Madison is a highly successful woman in a PR and marketing firm. When the operations director takes some time out Madison finds the rumours are that she is to take her place. When the monday morning meeting that she has been looking forward to takes a rather different direction Maddy is left on her heels and totally bewildered. Work has been her whole life to the point of all else. Beth is her life long friend who runs “Growlers at the Grange” (I did smile at that!) who is rather different to Maddy in that she tries to put something back. (I filled up at Ron & Lettie). A book about life and its ups and downs and that material things don’t always give the greatest reward. Being a part of something small can make a greater world for those involved. A wonderful plot, brilliant characters and a little humour and romance make this a perfect uplifting read. Kim you have a talent and I very much look forward to your next book . 5* all the way

Finally, her sacrifices will pay off. Instead, Maddy is let go. Now her life has no purpose. That’s when her old buddy Beth comes calling. Beth runs a doggy day care and before she knows it Maddy is walking dogs, volunteering in the library and reading to elderly residents. She starts to see other reasons to get up every morning and when Beth’s handsome brother comes home. Maybe there’s life after job loss after all

I loved Amazing Grace, and this is equally fantastic.
So many thought-provoking moments whilst reading this, especially telling people 'I can't stop long' when visiting them.....something I need to stop doing right now. It gave me tears and goosebumps.
I totally related to so many things, (even going for a wee while the kettle boils, so as not to waste time!!)
It is a funny, romantic and emotional read and I can’t recommend it enough.

I loved this story!

It was an uplifting read and truly heart-warming.

It was a lovely story that was extremely well written. The characters were perfectly developed and I loved their interaction. The plot was lovely and Kim has captured the highs and lows of life perfectly.

I can’t wait to see what she releases next – 5 stars from me!!

This is the first book that I have read by Kim Nash. I was offered an early preview copy from Netgalley and the Publisher, and decided to read it, as I loved the cover.
The story features on Maddy, as she becomes redundant at the age of 37, and finds that she doesn't recognise the person that she has become. Work has been the entire focus of her life, and she doesn't know what to do now she no longer has a job.
Her childhood friend Beth asks her to help out at Giddywell Grange while she recuperates from an operation, and she soon finds herself helping out with tasks that she never imagined herself doing.
I really loved this book, it was well written, and the storyline flowed well. I really enjoyed reading it.
I liked the characters, and it was good to read about Maddy's experiences.
The book is an easy feel good read. I would love to have a sequel to this book.

Kim Nash is on a roll, and is already after this the second book, starting to become a must read author for romantic comedy fans.

I adored this book, Maddie is a fabulous main character, and although some of the surprises along the way I did guess, I was enjoying the journey far too much to mind.

And there are dogs, I love Growlers at Giddywell Grange, it sounds like a fabulous place to leave your dog for a doggie holiday, and is a massive contrast for Maddie when she is made redundant from her high flying PR job, for her to help out at Giddywell Grange while her best friend recuperates from a much needed surgery.

This is a story of self re-discovery for Maddie, as her life changes completely and she starts to find pleasure in the simpler pleasures of life.

I loved seeing how Maddie develops over the course of the book, although I was worried about some of the decisions she appeared to be making.

Baxter is one special dog and I doubt there is a reader out there that if they like dogs, that won;t fall under his adorable spell, and equally will enjoy getting to know Alice, his human too.

You should have seen the great big grin on my face, when I spotted a quick cameo from a leading character in the author's previous book! I love it when authors do that sort of thing!

This is such a gentle story, written from Maddie's point of view, that I couldn't help but really love.

I felt that Maddie was starting to become my own friend, and there are many many moments that made me smile in this.

It's certainly a feel good, all around fabulous read. It's got a different vibe from Amazing Grace, but this is an author still finding her feet, and finding them well, proving already she can write in a multitude of ways.

For me this was a fantastic holiday read, which I raced through the pages and couldn't get enough of in only a few short hours.

I can happily recommend this completely whole heartedly for lovers of dogs, great story lines, characters that feel real and that grow over the course of the book, and a whole lost of other plot points that I haven't even mentioned!!

Redundant. Ten years of her life. Over.

That is pretty much how Maddy Young feels. It is all over. Great job, apartment, company car. Gone. She also lost the man in her life due to a breakup.

Maddy has an opportunity to help her friend Beth. No time like the present. Beth is about to undergo an operation and will be out of commission for a while. She owns Growlers, a doggy day-care, and she does other community activities. Maddy takes over for Beth. Gone are the high-powered clothes, the perfect hair and nails. She is now deep in doggy-doo. But, it turns out to be so much more.

For one thing, Maddy becomes very involved with the community in Giddywell Grange. She meets wonderful people she never would have met before. She finds a connection with others that is more precious than just about any experience she has ever had.

One special thing in Maddy's life, is Beth's brother Alex. He is also in town, and he and Maddy have something between them. However, Maddy's ex comes calling and wants a second chance. Along the way, Maddy has Beth and her uncle to help her, and they prove invaluable to her. What is more is now that she is not working 24/7, she gets to spend time with her mother, and this is something that she thought might never happen.

What a touching story. My heart broke more than once when I realized just how much Maddy and Alex were drawn to one another. The hesitancy they experienced worked well to draw out the drama in this story. All I wanted for Maddy was to find happiness. Her road to happiness was paved with so many beautiful things, despite the conflicts that occurred. Kim Nash is a delightful storyteller. And that, folks, makes me quite a happy reader.

Good easy read, I hope Kim writes a sequel.

I’ve never read a book by Kim Nash so was looking forward to reading this. It’s always great when you discover a new author that you like and I really like Kim’s way of telling a story. Will certainly be recommending this as a good read to the patrons in my library.

Warm and Wonderful!

I’ve just finished this book and am sitting here with a huge grin on my face.

This is my second book by Kim Nash and I love it as much as the first. Madison is a great character who I think many people will relate to. She is driven and busy and ambitious, but needs to learn that sometimes that doesn’t mean you are living your best life.

As in Nash’s first book, there is a cast of supporting characters who you can’t help but fall in love with. Madison’s relationship with her best friend and her mother were particularly poignant and make you think about who and what you should be prioritising in your life.

Permeating the whole of the novel is a sense of warmth and love, it is the perfect book to curl up with this autumn. And the ending was absolutely perfect.

It's not my usual genre but I requested it for a change and it's a light hearted enjoyable read that proves exactly what my parents told me years ago, always come home when life goes wrong. Maddy loses her dream job that she has worked hard for since leaving her old life behind and returns home to discover that being made redundant was the best thing to happen, she reconnects with family and old friends, makes new ones and best of all, she finds her true value in life. I was given given this to read in exchange for my honest opinion and I would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased.

This was my first book by Kim Nash, but it won’t be the last. I am hoping there will be a second in this series. The story line was so seamless and lovely. You fall in love with the characters so quickly and easily. This book just makes you happy.

What an absolute joy, I loved every minute of this story.

Well, here we are back with this author’s second book, Escape to Giddywell Grange! The title was the first thing that attracted me – Giddywell Grange, how delightful does that sound! The second was the cover of the book looking all bright and beautiful! The third was the author….well, let’s not lie here, the author was probably the first thing that attracted me to this book as I have read her first book Amazing Grace, which I loved!! So based on those three initial thoughts, this book was always going to be a winner!!

In this book we meet Maddy, a high flying PR woman. When she is made redundant not long after catching her boyfriend Jamie in bed with another woman, Maddy goes to her childhood home to stay with her mum and to gather her thoughts. When her best friend, Beth is incapacitated due to an operation, Maddy offers to help run Beth’s business, a doggy day care centre called Growlers, alongside Beth’s dad and brother, Alex. She also reluctantly agrees to help fulfil Beth’s commitments in the community, which she finds she actually quite enjoys!! With the lovely Alex on hand to help out, Maddy begins to think the stressful, hectic PR life isn’t the life for her anymore…that is until Jamie turns up wanting her back!

I loved this book!! It was such a wonderful, refreshing and easy to read book!! I have to admit I didn’t like Maddy initially and thought she came across as quite shallow. She did however win me round and by the time she’s helping out at Growlers and delivering library books to housebound borrowers, my opinion of her had done a complete circle!! It was funny to see Maddy thrown completely out of her comfort zone, but lovely to also see how every time she came to realise that nothing was as bad as it seemed!! I loved her interactions with the local community and taking on the jobs that Beth would have done, and we could really have done with Maddy helping us out in the library where I work!!

There were so many things in this book which I could relate to, and probably why I enjoyed it so much, with the library, the sight impaired Mr Parkes and the elderly couple Ron and Leila Darby being my particular favourites!! The fact that I work in a library and my husband is visually impaired kind of meant this book was made for me!! Although I do have to take offence to Maddy’s view of being a librarian must be the most boring job in the world – because it really isn’t!! The author has done a fabulous job of taking some of society’s stereotypes and turning them into something positive – old people aren’t dull, you don’t need to avoid visually impaired people and I repeat, it’s certainly not boring working in a library!!

I didn’t feel the romance was as ‘in your face’ as it was in the previous book, but there was still plenty to make your heart skip a beat. For me, I liked it like this as it got to focus on Maddy and the big changes she makes to her life, and not just in the romance department!! I did however love the side story of Maddy’s mum, Josie and her romance!! This was tender and heart-warming and ended up just as it should have done!!

All in all, this was a fabulous feel-good read with plenty of love, tears and laughter!! The characters all complimented the story perfectly and I really like the mention of characters from the author’s first book, which tied the two books together well!! This was not just a story of friendship, family, good deeds and falling in love but about following your heart and believing in yourself and others!! Cannot wait for the next book to see what this author comes up with next!!

Oh my days, Kim Nash has become an author that can very easily drag me away from Crime fiction and over to the bright side.
I actually hasn't realised this new author had another book coming out so soon as due to health reasons I've been keeping myself off social media most of the time and spent a little time reading books I'd bought as I felt I needed to fall in love with reading and not just do it for reviewing. Her first book Amazing Grace had me fall in love with a great feelgood book.
As soon as I saw Escape to Giddywell Grange on Netgally I had to request it and was thrilled when my request was approved. I started this book on a Friday evening and as much as real like kept wanting to take over I managed to finish it over the weekend.
It's a superb feel good read. A book you can dive in and out of comfortably and be transported the minute you start reading. It's also a book that really does make you think and take stock of your life and your surrounding. Makes you think just what is and isn't important in life and that some times things that happen, happen for a reason. When you are forced to take a journey down a path you wasn't expecting to take, it can still be the right path. You wouldn't have known it being the right path if what led you to it, hadn't happened. A real thought provoking read.
Many things going on in this book were so easy to relate to which makes the book feel so realistic that the places and characters come alive in your mind.
I loved the main character in this book, Madison. I loved the new track her life took when she was given the devastating news that she was to be made redundant.
Madison has lived for her job and not for herself. She really believed that work, work, work was what made her happy. The satisfaction of doing her job well and believing that she was working for a company that really needed her. None of us are irreplaceable.
When you think life has kicked you down, there can only be one way to go and that's up. Can Madison find what does really make her happy and can she find a job she will love just as much.
Emotional, thought provoking, realistic read that certainly leaves you thinking things through. This book is one that will leave you thinking about it, long after you finish reading it.
Kim another amazing book you have written, loved, loved, loved every single page of it. I loved how characters from the first book were incorperated into this one, but it wasn't all about them. Keep these books coming, I can't wiat for more.

I loved this feel good book great for reading on a lazy afternoon. This book has some wonderful characters and a fab plot and really quite funny in places. If you looking for a heart let uplifting story then this is the book for you , you certainly won't be disappointed, so grab a cuppa grab the book and get cozy on the sofa.

I have gotten to know this lovely author on social media over the last year and without a doubt she has become one of my favourite people. She is so very kind and generous with her time. I remember when Kim told me she was writing a book, I was so excited for her. I was sent a copy of Amazing Grace and to be honest (I don't think I've ever told Kim this) I had never read a romantic comedy type of book.
I know that is shameful to admit but they were just not my type of book ever. But single handedly, this lady has changed my view completely on romantic comedy books. I adored Amazing Grace.
In fact, I will sing its praises from the rooftop quite often on social media. I think everyone should read it.
It is a wonderfully, light feel good type of book. I loved everything about it, her characters are warm, friendly and so interesting and Kim has this unique style of writing. I love it.
I was thrilled to be invited to take part on the blog tour for Amazing Grace. I felt quite proud actually that I was asked.
So you can imagine my delight when I heard that Escape to Giddywell Grange was on its way. Firstly I am a huge dog lover, I would go as far as saying I prefer dogs to people some days. So a book which involves dogs, I am going to love.
Secondly, Kim is now my new best friend (I hope) and thirdly, I am quite partial to a romantic comedy now., thank you Kim. They take me away from the somewhat mundane parts of my week.
I picked up Escape to Giddywell Grange to read one evening not long after getting my copy.
I sat down in my comfy reading chair, dogs snuggled up beside me and a feeling of calm enveloped me. You know that feeling you get when you sit down with a book knowing that you are going to love it, the style of writing, the characters, pure bliss.
It's like your coming home almost, a comfort feeling as such like a warm blanket.
Kim has created a wonderful character in Maddy. She is like us all really in this world isn't she, trying our best.
We work in a job where we feel they can't do without us and then suddenly they can and you are out or easily replaced. We feel so unsure, we question what we do, how hard we work, did we work hard enough?
Maddy soon realises that work had become more important to her than family.
Sad but I'm sure it happens to us all at some point in our life. We get side tracked, life gets so busy and before we know it, it starts to pass us by.
She does get a chance to change her life, spend more time with her mum, her friends, enjoy new hobbies and it is refreshing for her. It helps her to take stock of her life.
Someday I would love to own a dog santuary, it's always been in my mind as a hobby or career. I think I would quite enjoy it.
A thoroughly enjoyable read, I would recommend to everyone.

A great summer read with an important message. Today, with all the hush and rush we all tend to live too much for our jobs. This one is a good reminder to think about what makes us happy and give ourselves a little credit to enjoy life more. It has romance, it has humor, it has message, it has everything a good book should have.

This is the second book that I've read of Kim's and I have absolutely loved both, this is the perfect book to cosy down with, it is such an uplifting, beautiful story with characters that you will just love. I highly recommend this book, it's the perfect read.

I loved this book! It's easy to read with an interesting plot.
The author allows us to follow Maddy on her journey through heartbreak. We've all been there at one point or another and this was completely relatable.
Kim Nash engaged me in Maddy's world right from the start. Every character in this story has a purpose and they all tie together extremely well.
This is a book I didn't want to put down. I constantly wanted to know more. This is the first book I've read by Kim Nash but it won't be the last.

I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. Great characters and a great plot line. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Before we dive into this review let’s start off with stating that I read this book in a huge reading slump. That is why it took me almost 3 weeks to finish this story. It says nothing about the story. Nothing about how good this book really was. It says something about my mind-set while reading it. If that stupid reading slump wouldn’t have hit me like a hurricane, I probably would have finish this little gem in two days tops.

I was actually drawn to Escape to Giddywell Grange because Holly Martin (aka my all-time favourite feel good author) was raving about it on her Facebook page. And after finishing this story, I can honestly say I understand her enthusiasm.

We follow Maddy, who is kind of a workaholic and lives for her job in PR. But when she is one day made redundant she loses her way and finds that her life is actually quite empty. When she returns to her hometown Giddywell, she finds that life is more than just work alone.

Maddy is my kind of female lead. She is a determined, funny, caring person who has lost her way. Throughout the story you really see her grow as a character. I absolutely loved how her best friend Beth pushed her out of her comfort zone to discover herself once again. These unexpected challenges Beth poses to Maddy made me laugh out loud numerous times, but at the same time they were heart-warming.

One little side note about this story the blurbs describe it as a romantic story and I couldn’t disagree more. There is almost no romance in the story. I personally love a good romance and actually missed some romance in the plot. But I think this is the perfect story for people who love the feel good genre, but are not too keen on overly sweet, romantic story’s. Escape to Giddywell Grange is not a romantic story, it is a story about learning to love yourself again. About finding out who you are and who you want to be. About roots, about family, about friendship and about dogs. Romance is one of the less important parts of this story.

I absolutely loved the story and would highly recommend for people who love a decent feel good story. I can’t wait for another novel by Kim Nash! She is a new force to be reckoned with in this genre!

Such a lovely story from the start, so pleased it had a happy ending. I loved all the dogs too. A nice romantic read with a touch of sadness thrown in. Well done Kim Nash a fabulous book that I read very quickly as I wanted to find out what happened in the end !!

It was a lovely story with loveable characters. The main idea is not that original, but it was interesting to see how the heroine finds her happy ending. A real feel-good read.

After having heard a lot about Kim Nash's debut novel, I was really looking forward to reading Escape to Giddywell Grange.
The story is utterly charming and wonderful. Apart from a niggle or two (involving Theo and Jamie), I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are likeable and the storytelling is brilliant. If you like to read books of this genre (Romance/chick-lit) then I recommend you to read this.

After reading rather a lot of crime lately, Escape To Giddywell Grange was the perfect book to lift my spirits and provide some lighthearted fun. 

Kim Nash is brilliant at creating characters that her readers can relate to, and no matter what your age or personal circumstances there will be something in Escape To Giddywell Grange that strikes a chord with you. For me, it was Maddy's relationship with her mum. When Maddy was younger, she didn't appreciate everything her mum did for her and the sacrifices she made to ensure that Maddy was well cared for and comfortable. Now she is older, Maddy is able to see more of the fun side of her mum and see her more as a friend. This reflects the relationship I have with my own mum now that I am also in my thirties. I also loved the nod to character's in Kim Nash's previous book, Amazing Grace. 

Although Escape To Giddywell Grange is mostly lighthearted, there are some serious messages within the novel. I loved reading as Maddy learnt more about herself and what she wanted from her life, watching her grow in confidence as the novel progressed. 

The element of romance in Escape To Giddywell Grange was more slow burning for me, but this worked as it meant I was able to learn more about the individual characters. When the romance does gather speed, it is exciting to read. There is even a twist at the end that gave me heart palpitations!

I can't wait to see what this wonderful author does next!

I adored this book! From the first page to the last I was totally transfixed by Madison and her life after she was kicked out of the job she devoted herself to for 12 years, when she was expecting promotion and praise for all the work she'd done! Trust nobody!!

She'd got used to the lifestyle her work afforded her, so to have no job is a big wake up call to her. What's she supposed to do with her life now? She tries to apply for new jobs but they don't live up to her expectations, so when she reconnects with her old friend Beth she finally starts seeing life from a different perspective - Beth is one of life's good guys - always there helping out others, and has recently set up a doggy daycare and boarding business and has never been happier. She may not have the swanky apartment or the money that Madison had but she has job satisfaction, and the more time that Madison spends with her friend, the more she begins to see that there is more to life than the office and money!

This story also shows the true value of right place, right time and that the kindness of strangers can often lead to new discoveries. I really loved how fate plays its' role throughout the story and when Beth has to hand over some of her volunteering exploits to Madison it was so touching to see how simple things brought joy to those people. Brought a tear to my eye as well as to Madison when she realises the impact these little acts of kindness can bring to so many people.

While she's back in Giddywell she also starts spending more time with her mum and that leads to new revelations about her past, and dealing with her ex also plays heavy on her mind too - just when things start to be going somewhere with the lovely Alex too!!

This is a story that really connected with me and it was told with such warmth and humour too! There are emotional aspects that are dealt with sympathetically too and I found it to be a story that had a little bit of everything and I didn't want it to end! I want to live and work in Giddywell! Wonderful!!

What a well written and interesting tale,, interesting because it is different to the normal romantic novels,. Very easy to get lost in this so you wont want to put it down and it doesn't finish the way you might think it will. I recommend you get hold of this book to read it for yourself. It is the first book written by Kim Marsh that I have read but I will be going out to get her other ones. I am giving this 5 stars. Enjoy.

This is my first read of Kim's books and what a wonderful read it was!

I really enjoyed getting to see Maddie go from being made redundant and lost in life, to a woman who reconnected with old friends and family members, loved to help out the locals, and saw the world with a whole new perspective. This is a must read for all women out there trying to figure out their lives, friendships, relationships, etc. as Maddie is an inspiring character.

There were times where the book became slightly repetitive and I wish we got to see more of Maddie and Alex, as I feel they were very rushed towards the end, however, nevertheless, the story was every type of wonderful and I will definitely be reading Kim's debut book 'Amazing Grace'.

When Maddie gets fired from her job, the one she put all her energy into, she is adrift on what to do. Contacting her mom, and her best friend, both of who she had not given much time to in the past, they help her get back on her feet and give her a purpose. I liked the story about her dad she never knew, and the people she helped out with as a volunteer. Would have liked a bit more actually, as it was interesting. Would have liked more with Alex too, the friend's brother she had a crush on forever. Didn't like the idea of going back to the loser who cheater on her, and tried to kick her dog. Really? Didn't see why this was even a possibility, and cost a star in my rating. Other than that though, I liked the story and would recommend if you want a nice feel-good story set in England.

Well Kim Nash has done it again! Another fantastic five star read! I loved it - it was fun, thought provoking and inspirational - just like the author herself! I loved the idea of reinventing yourself, leaving the past behind and never settling for second best. I also had a HUGE grin on my face when I read parts that really hit a chord with me. . Loved it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you have read the debut by this author you already know that she knows how to caputre an audience with her fluent writing style and her lovely story. If you have not read her first book, shame on you LOL ;)

I really loved 'Amazing Grace' and I adored this one as well. In my opinion you feel how much the author has grown. She writes even better here and she turned this one in to a must read for me as well, by putting a dog on the cover. :)

This book shows that the author is not a one-trick-pony. On the contrary, she came, she took us by storm and she is here to stay for a very long time. 

This story draws our attention to the fact that we often judge or look down on other people's actions or interests. What you do and how you live your life is the only way, right? No way! You can only form a conclusion once you have tried it yourself and you might be in for a big surprise. You might even like that life a lot more than you did your own.

Ok, now it's time to open my bag of stars. How many do you expect after having read this review? 5 do I hear you say? That is indeed the correct answer. :)

This is one of those books you need to read in a comfortable spot. Once you begin you won't be able to put it down. You feel such compassion for every one of the characters and want them to be your best friends.
This is a book about starting over and finding purpose and passion (of various sorts) in your life.
It is a book about forgiveness, for yourself and for others.
Just when Maddy thinks her career is about to take a huge leap forward, when she thinks she may be able to balance her life and add some elements that she has never had time for, she is made redundant, feels unwanted and obsolete, and has no idea of how to move forward. She achieves some of this by looking backwards, and seeking things that comforted her before she became "successful" in her PR career.
Her romantic life takes some unusual twists and turns during the book. When you think she is about to take forgiveness a bit too far... well, I don't want to spoil that for you.
It is a book about discovering how to look at life from a different perspective and enjoying the opportunities in what at first appear to be tragedy.
Get comfortable, because you won't want to leave until the last page is turned.

Escape to Giddywell Grange by Kim Nash is the story of Maddy Young, a 37 year old, who just lost her job. Maddy has been putting her job first for years, so when she is made redundant, and loses her job, she is lost. Maddy's friend Beth, makes it her mission to show Maddy that there is more to life than work. I found this book to be very delightful, and I love Maddy's transformation. I highly recommend this book for a lighthearted read. I will be readying more books by this author.

An enjoyable read that gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling, ESCAPE TO GIDDYWELL GRANGE by Kim Nash is the perfect read to curl up with on the couch and relax.

A stylish flat, all the handbags and shoes she could ever want, a flash car – and with the promotion she’s worked so hard for within touching distance, Maddy’s life is pretty near all she’s ever wanted. But when her life unexpectedly falls apart, she realises what might just be missing – as well as having broken up with her partner, she’s pushed away her family and friends and her apparently perfect life is rather lonely and empty. With the encouragement of friend Beth, she begins to discover what might make her happy – a closer relationship with her mother, letting in other people and making their lives a little richer, and finding herself again. There are lots of slips along the way – uncomfortable moments to live through, times when she has her doubts that this new life is really for her – and I thoroughly enjoyed following her on her difficult journey.

Maddy is an engaging and relatable heroine, perhaps less likeable at the start because she’s rather lost her way – but I grew to love her, and particularly enjoyed her clear voice, her awkwardness in embracing the new direction her life takes, and the gentle humour that runs through the whole book. But every character is beautifully drawn – I particularly liked her relationship with her mother (the author has a particularly perfect touch with mothers…) and the surprises along the way, her recovered friendship with Beth, and all the other contacts she makes through her involvement with Growlers and her work with the library. And yes, even the dogs have well-drawn characters – I loved Baxter (and his owner when she first meets him), and so will everyone else. There’s a gentle simmering romance too – not totally central to the story, and in danger of being derailed when the past rears its head, but I really liked the way it was handled.

The whole book is gentle and filled with exceptional warmth and the loveliest fuzzy moments, and the author’s touch with the more difficult emotional content is absolutely assured too. The writing has an effortlessness about it, easy and comfortable to read, keeping you turning the pages: and the story is immensely engaging as Maddy slowly realises what’s really important – the memories you make and the people you meet – with friendship, support and self-love coming into clear focus. This really was a thoroughly lovely read – I enjoyed it very much, and recommend it to all.

Madison (Maddy) Young has 'made it'! She's happy in her super corporate, high-flying PR career and about to receive the recognition and promotion she's worked so hard to achieve for the past 12 years at Ronington's PR & Marketing Agency. Until it all comes crashing down around her and the expected promotion turns into an earth-shattering, completely unexpected redundancy! Work had been her saviour when her relationship with boyfriend Jamie ended. I mean, where else would a corporate savvy supergirl turn? But now ... she has no clue what she's supposed to do with herself. She has no friends to speak of (who has time for friends when you're so busy climbing the corporate ladder?!), no partner to tell her things will be ok, and she's too shocked to even think of what her next move should be!

So she rather despondently takes herself home to her mom, and at the same time, pays a visit to her oldest, closest friend Beth who lives nearby at her family's farm Giddywell Grange, where she and her dad run Growlers - a doggy-care centre. Beth and Maddy have drifted in recent years, what with Beth having stayed close to home and hearth and Maddy doing quite the opposite. But now Beth is due to have a major operation that's going to have her laid up for a while leaving her dad short of an extra pair of hands to run the business. She's put the surgery off for so long, but now she can't postpone any longer. She views Maddy's redundancy with a bit of a twinkle in her eye and suggests that seeing as she's got some time on her hands, maybe she could come and help out? Well, it's a far cry from what she's used to, but Maddy does have fond memories of her younger days and how she loved spending time on the farm, and she really doesn't have anything else to do right now, so she readily agrees. Little does she know that Beth has a few ideas up her sleeve to remind Maddy of who she was before she became such a stuck up, corporate city girl and forgot all about the carefree life she'd led when she was younger.

Kim Nash has created characters that you want to embrace as your own friends. By the end of the book, I felt like I actually knew these people and that I'd found a true sense of satisfaction, knowing that things were on the right track for them. Nash's natural warmth and empathy are so clearly evident in her writing, and the way that she managed to include characters from her previous book was absolutely inspired! I loved that!

Ultimately though, I think that Kim's gift lies in the fact that while we think we're just enjoying the lovely story that she's created, she's also reminding us of the many stark realities that stare us in the face that we usually prefer to ignore. Maddy's 'Escape' to Giddywell Grange actually turns out to be her own 'saving grace'! While she is devastated by her redundancy and the loss of the life she's become accustomed to, she's given the golden opportunity to return to a life that she's forgotten she once loved, and she's able to re-discover her authentic self: the real Maddy who got lost along the corporate route to 'success' She thought that all that material wealth, and those business colleagues who she mistakenly thought were her friends were genuine. But as soon as her job was gone, the rest disappeared along with it. That happens to so many of us. We get so wrapped up in who, or what we think we're supposed to be, that we forget who we really are. The incredible message of this book is that the most important part of our lives is who we share them with, and what we can share with others.

A highly enjoyable 5-star read, with a deep, indelible message. And there are lovely, lovely dogs, Baxter in particular, which actually earns this book at least 1 or 2 extra fluffy stars. In fact, can I please book my doggies into Growlers when we go on our hols in December??

Kim Nash really has a knack for writing characters close to the heart.  Although my family circumstances are different to Maddy's, I am someone who thrives on work, deadlines and the only times I've taken child related leave, I've been left feeling like something was missing.  When Maddy is made redundant and begins to see her life in a different way I found myself really reflecting on my own situation how my life would look if faced with the same dilemma.  Because of this, I immediately felt an affinity towards Maddy and was hooked until the very end.

As soon as she arrived in Giddywell, her childhood home where her mother and friends still live, I could feel the warmth, comfort and hope and I knew that everything was going to be okay.  With the help of friends old and new, Maddie begins to rebuild her shattered life and discovers a more peaceful work life balance and finds there is time for a little romance too. 

This novel is so uplifting and heartwarming and for me, a little thought provoking and inspiring.  It left me with the warm fuzzies and a glow of happiness.

This is the kind of book I absolutely adore, you find yourself smiling and grinning like a loon while you read it. To me that’s always the sign of a fabulous read when I can’t control my emotions. It’s well written, addictive reading. Cute and adorable characters, a wonderful read.

What a sweetheart of a book. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. The story of Madison gripped me from the first line, and each chapter revealed the beauty of the writing.

Having made redundant after working for a PR company for 12 years, Maddy was at a loss. But when life is tough, we all want to go to one place - back home. Maddy did the same. She went home to her mother, her friends, her old world that she had left far behind in a hurry to get into a business world. She discovered herself and her relationships, both new and old, and soon learnt the true meaning of happiness.

My first book by Kim Nash moved me beyond what I expected. I did not know I would have a lump in my throat while reading certain parts or a smile at others. I think I guffawed at a few places. The story pulled my emotions and kept me connected to it.

The writing was all heart, superfluous and exquisite, abounding in layers which showed me Madison's life in totality, what she was and what she was going to be. Every moment of her life felt precious. The lessons she learnt spoke to me in tiny, different ways.

The characters were beautifully etched, the author taking care in details. It was obvious they had received a loving hand in their conception. They were alive and added different flavors to the prose. The story had a few shockers too with secrets and past relationships, which rocked my thriller-y heart.

My attention gets distracted easily while reading books of this genre. But with this, at no point could I look away from it. I couldn't let go. I loved, loved, loved the story, no two ways about it.

When the path you'd planned and envisioned taking is suddenly pulled away from you life as you know it feels lost. Maddy Young was obsessed with work, her motto was work hard then play hard. She spent most of her life working in her power suits and zooming around the country in her executive company car. Her heart had been broken a few years ago but she felt positive for the future until she was handed her redundancy papers with immediate effect. For someone who spent most of her time working Maddy hadn't a clue were to start on how to fill her time and a sadness crept in.
Maddy's best friend, Beth, felt like this redundancy was the perfect opportunity for Maddy to reassess her life and Beth had a cunning plan and had set tasks for Maddy to complete. Tasks to step her out of her comfort zone, tasks to reignite lost loves and tasks to make Maddy think twice about the lifestyle she'd worked so hard to achieve. Unbeknown to Maddy these tasks were tailored perfectly to help her overcome this stumbling block in her life. We follow Maddy learning to pick herself up and move on from a blip in her life.
Kim Nash has written such a gorgeous story that is sadly very relatable in today's economic climate. You can feel an empathy with Maddy but you also want to cheer her on with starting afresh. I absolutely adored the setting of the story a farm with a doggy day care centre; animals do tend to bring out a softness to characters and bring warmth and charm to a storyline. Relatable, romantic and perfect cosy read.

Definitely one of the best books I’ve downloaded from netgalley! I loved all the characters and the storyline was very heartwarming.

The synopsis gives a wonderful idea as to what the book is about. I met maddy as she is nervously waiting for her meeting where she is expecting to be promoted. This is something that Maddy feels she deserves due to all the hard work she has being doing over the years in PR. Work has been her life she has missed family and friends important events and not seen them as much as she should have done because she has been too busy with her work. So from anticipated nervous excitement she is suddenly dropped into a devastated place where she feels she is now surplus to requirements.

I immediately felt my heart go out to Maddy and I quickly found myself caught up with the story within a matter of a few paragraphs. This is the second book by this author and yet again she has absolutely and completely had me hooked and wrapped up within her writing.

I love how quickly the author shows the extreme emotions with Maddy, from enthusiasm to dejected in just a few words. It is this empathy that she brings out in the reader that shows how well she engages with this reader. I think this is why she is going to be a writer whose future books I will always buy without giving it a second thought. I know this is only the second book she has written but I am already a huge fan.

So, from starting the book I spent a few delightful hours devouring the story, I learned about Maddy, her Mum and her best friend Beth. I love how the once best friends had drifted due to Maddy’s work, but instantly connected when Maddy decides to come home again. I must say I also love the characters of Uncle Tom and Alex. They, along with Mum and Beth are full of advice and support as Maddy tries to find her feet and are on hand with loads of love and hugs with the occasional kick up the backside for good measure.

I loved watching the transformation in Maddy from a highflying PR career woman to one who pick up poo as she helps in Beth’s Dog Kennels. The author got the balance so right as it would have been so easy to stray into that feeling of “how the mighty have fallen”, but instead of that she created a character who is warm, helpful and supportive, as I said she got the balance right! The author has created little situations where Maddy is not expected to take part, but she when she surprises people and does these little tasks, it makes for humorous reading.

Life is not straight forward for Maddy and even though she has taken a step back from the PR world, she still has her eye out for another job while helping Beth out. I loved that nothing was straight forward and I wasn’t sure how things were eventually going to pan out and I discovered some nice little surprises along the way!

The author has once again created a story that completely wrapped me up for the few hours that I sat and read. I loved watching the characters develop through the story and how they react and interact with each other. The feeling of warmth, love and family at Giddywell Grange is fabulous and sounds a wonderful place that I would quite happily love to live in.

This is a story about searching your soul and doing what is right and best for yourself. Maddy is fortunate to have a great cast behind her as she learns and discovers things about herself, what makes her happy and I loved watching her discover that there is more to life than a high flying stressful career.

This is a wonderful heartwarming story the I would absolutely Recommend because it is just fabulous. And left me wanting to read more by this author

For some reason, this book reminded me of A Christmas Carol, with Maddy's friend, Beth, playing the part of the ghost of Christmas and showing Maddy the error of her ways of her pre-redundancy life. The message in the story is one of self-discovery and the realisation that what you think you want, isn't necessarily what you actually want or need to make you happy. Although romance, between various couples, features in the book, it's not the focus. At times, I wanted to sit Maddy down and give her a good talking to, as she vacillated about her feelings for her ex, and the fact that I got quite cross with her, is telling, as it meant I was invested in her character and her story.
Then there's Baxter... who couldn't help falling in love with a gorgeous dog like him!

A lovely read about what really makes us happy.

Maddy has lived the high life, designer clothes, great holidays etc but she worked hard for these things.
Then suddenly things change.
She finds herself back where she was brought up and helping out her childhood best friend Beth.
Maddy starts to realise she’s having fun making other people happy and looking after the dog Baxter...but will she go back to her old life?
This book is a fun, warm hearted easy read.
I really enjoyed the different characters and story and left me smiling inside.

Ive been on a thriller binge again recently and this came along at the right time, something that soothes the soul, makes you asses your life and consider what you do for your community.

Maddy has it all, a high flying career & designer belongings so when she is called to a meeting she is sure that it is for a promotion, instead she ends up redundant.



Now what does she do? She can only afford her flat for so long, her company car needs returning. When she turns up to her mums, she suggests visiting her best friend - and let me tell you - everyone needs a best friend like Beth. When she is taken into surgery, she sets Maddy a task list and gives her chance to consider what she wants to do in her life.



This book is honestly lovely, it really warmed me. I loved Maddy, i felt for her, i felt that she had put her all into her career and was given nothing in return - so i was rooting for her to discover her true passion in life. I already said how everyone needs a best friend like Beth and i will say it again, she is strong willed and literally only ever has Maddys best interests at heart.Not only were these two brilliant, there is a strong cast of surrounding family that adores both the girls plus a cheeky dog.



I really think this book is a true form of escapism and would recommend it over and over. A real rainy day pick me up, you just want to curl up and dive into this read.

In this warm and endearing read, you get to follow Maddy's transition from her career driven existence, as she learns what actually makes her happy in life. It takes her by surprise, somewhat, but she is a believeable and likeable character who is not afraid to admit that she may have been going up the wrong path.

A strength of the writing is the cast of characters who are part of her life, especially Beth who enables her to take on a new perspective on life. Maddy's past has influenced how she reacts to people she meets and it is quite a shock to her to realise how few actual friends she had in her work-driven life.

There are plenty of slow burn plot lines simmering under the surface. The meat of the story centres on Maddy's development but you glimpse the person she may become in her dealings with the people she meets in the village. Taking a chance and savouring each moment for what it is are major themes behind the story, as is how you measure success. Is it in material terms or in simpler pleasures? Friends and family are shown to be key to Maddy's happiness. With a fluent writing style and excellent pacing, this is a lovely read, which leaves you with a smile on your face.

In short: Thoughtful, inspiring themes underpin a great romance.

5☆ A Heart Warming, Feel Good, Rom Com, I Highly Recommend

Escape to Giddywell Grange is such a heart warming, feel good, entertaining, story with the added bonus of some adorable Fur Babies! Which is always a winner for me!

I firstly have to mention just how much I Adore the book cover.

Maddy is having a run of bad luck when she shockingly is made redundant when she least expected it.
After assuming she was going to get the promotion she so deserved!

So when her best friend Beth asks her to help out at Growlers, her Doggie Day Care Centre she decides a change might just be what she needs.
So she sets off to Giddywell Grange.

But Maddy's new adventure isn't going to be easy as a blast from her past rocks up and a potential new romance is on the horizon. But can Maddy stay strong and follow her heart.

There is a wonderful sense of community spirit throughout Giddywell Grange and it was so lovely seeing Maddy grow whilst she's there and slot back in and help the community.

I really liked Maddy she's strong, her character is relatable and watching her grow in confidence and taking on new challenges was a delight and her character quickly became like a friend which I loved.

Escape to Giddywell Grange is a heart warming story of self discovery, new beginnings, trying new things, making friends, romance, the highs and lows, starting over, plenty of laugh out loud moments, and of course some adorable Fur Babies!

Once again Kim Nash has written a Gem of a book with superb characters and a beautiful storyline that will Touch your heart and keep you turning the pages.
I can't wait for her next book!

This was such a fun and entertaining read! The author has an eye for life as we are living it right this minute. I loved the memorable characters who reveal themselves in juicy dialogue and smart talking commentary.

Oh…My…God! I absolutely LOVED this book from the very first page to the very last one. When Maddy loses her job suddenly following a split with her boyfriend she returns home to stay with her Mum and get herself together. It’s a story that will probably resonate with people and really highlights how much Maddy has missed out on while she juggles work and the day to day things that bog us down. Once she has returned home she really makes the effort to reinforce her friendship with Beth who she has known since she was a young girl. But like other areas of her life, her long term friendships also suffered s we see her take the opportunity to reignite her friendship.

I loved all the characters that popped up in this book as well as falling in love with her life at Giddywell Grange (including all the pooches). The writing was effortless and the story flowed so well the pages just drifted by and before I knew it, I was finished and left feeling a little bereft. I really enjoyed Kim’s last book but fell head over heels in love with this latest. I literally cannot wait for her next release!

Firstly what a great book, when I had finished it left me feeling all warm inside with a smile on my face. Well done Kim Nash I haven't read any of your books but I'm sure going to look them out now.

After working hard and giving her life for 12 years in a PR company Maddie has been asked into her manager's office, convinced her hard work is about to pay off and she will get the promotion she has been working toward, she is sorely disappointed when in fact she is made redundant.
She makes her way home to work out what her next step will be.
As she enters the house she hears noises and going upstairs to investigate finds her boyfriend Jamie in their bed bonking another woman. Distraught she seeks out her lifelong friend Beth, who runs Doggy daycare from her home in Giddywell grange with her father who Maddie calls uncle Tom and Alex, Beth's brother who is over from America to help out as Beth is on the verge of having a knee op and will be off her feet for quite a long time.

After sobbing and bearing her soul to Beth she is asked a big favour to run Doggy daycare and help out at the grange whilst Beth is off her feet. At first, Maddie is horrified, she is used to the high life, smart cars, posh hotels, fabulous holidays and designer clothes. This work is so polar opposite, wellies, mud and dogs.
And this is where the lovely story takes off, it has some lovely warm characters within it , that will make you smile with warmth and some frustrations with the secrets they hold.
This is a book for any time of year but winter curled up in a chair with a blanket warm & cosy is perfect. Enjoy!!

Nice feel good book. It flowed very well. was easy to read. Nice characters. Good storyline. What’s not to love.

I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did. this was sweet, heartwarming and just a breath of fresh air. I loe it and I will try to read all of this author's books now. Great book, thoroughly recommended!

This story is about Maddy who was striving to be financially rich, working hard but abandoning her true friends and leisure in the process. It is only after a personal tragedy and being made redundant that she starts to reevaluate her lifestyle and choices, reconnecting with her best childhood friend, Beth, and actually being willing to share time with her Mum.

When her best friend has to have an operation that will leave her unable to run Growlers, her doggy daycare centre, Maddy offers to help cover for her, not realising just how many things Beth is involved with in the community. This story shares her experiences in a moving and, at times, hilarious way. She is faced with new opportunities, time to connect with others in a meaningful rather than superficial way and lots of choices. It is a time for deliberation, contemplation, adventure and fun.

The author is brilliant at bringing her characters to life and making them feel like friends sharing their experiences, hopes, fears and love in this moving story. It is also a heartwarming story of second chances, of love lost and found, secrets and surprises. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and didn’t want to put it down. I have no hesitation in highly recommending it and hope to read more by this highly talented author in future.

You’ll remember I read and loved Amazing Grace by the lovely Kim Nash, and was thrilled that there was a new author of heart-warming reads in the house. And with this, her second book, again I was not disappointed.

We meet Maddy, euphoric, buoyant and starry-eyed as she awaits news of a possible promotion. I’ve been here before in Rom com land, but very rarely with a character who was so so sure and, when the inevitable happened, I was gutted for her. This led into a part of a book that brought so many emotions forward as she recounted a number of regrets that have regularly visited me, that of not seeing family and friends enough. There was also the regret of never having to be able to get a dog and I, being the immature sod that I am, spent most of the book screaming at her ‘just get a dog!!’

This was a book of change, choc full of Maddy seeing what life was like when you were living it, meeting and talking to people, helping out and doing good deeds. With this came so many mottos and advice and I relished it all and even wrote down a few nuggets. I loved Maddy’s journey, although I had to slide my feet into her shoes to empathise with her in the man department especially after tweaking my own ideals to understand her obsession with work!! The dogs of course, made the book and helped me sail through this feel-good, heart warming, joyous read and I’d have taken even more doggy antics and love and read on and on! So enjoyable and recommended and thanks to Hera books  for the book in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this warm, upbeat book that features main character Maddy, a high flying workaholic with the lifestyle to go with it. When she is unexpectedly made redundant she has to dig deep and re-evaluate her whole life.

Helped by best friend Beth she finds herself wearing dungarees, cleaning kennels and visiting members of the community. Beth needs help at her doggy daycare business and Maddy has plenty of hours to fill, so she steps in and finds that she doesn’t miss the corporate lifestyle one bit.

There are a host of wonderful, warm characters all with wonderful stories to share. Of course, there are plenty of dogs, especially Baxter who just stole my heart. I found Maddy really likable and had my fingers crossed that she would find the romance she deserves. The story was inspiring, relatable and hard to put down.

This book was a brilliant read and one that is perfect to escape for a few hours and loose yourself.

I very much enjoyed this book, and was hooked from the first page. I thought the story was well-written, and the characters were realistic. I particularly liked Madison and her amazing bestie, Beth, who seems to understand what Madison needs better than she does herself.

Other main characters include Beth's brother Alex. From the first mention of Alex, I wanted him and Madison to realise their love for each other. Baxter the dog is also a great little character, telling us without words who can be trusted and who can't. And that brings me to Jamie - he made my flesh creep, so the least said about him, the better!

Madison thinks she has it all: a great career with the chance of a great promotion, and the lifestyle to go with it. She works continuously, in the office and at home to make sure she is giving her absolute all to the company. She has friends at work but has let other friendships slide. She is close to her mother, but over time her mother has featured less in her life because work is more important. Her mother has picked up on this and phones her less, and makes fewer demands on her time. Madison lives to work.

That is until the day she arrives at work expecting a promotion but finds herself made redundant instead. She cannot believe this is happening to her. She has given her entire self to the company. She must now find a comparable position to maintain her lifestyle. Her redundancy won't last forever, so she applies for a couple of less-than-suitable jobs, and when nothing works out there, her friend Beth suggests a temporary arrangement which would benefit them both - working at Growlers, Beth's kennel at Giddywell Grange.

As well as working in the kennel, Beth gives Madison little tasks which involve helping others in the local community. Initially Madison sees these tasks as nothing more than a list of things to do, but realising how valuable her contributions are to the people on that list, and deriving an unexpected joy from helping others, she is soon reevaluating her life.

Does she really need an all-consuming career which leaves her with nothing outside of work? No holidays; no social life; no partner; no children...

This is one of those novels that is not only an interesting and engaging as a story, but one which made me pause for thought. I particularly liked the pay-it-forward aspect, and the resulting good karma it returned to Madison.

Escape to Giddywell Grange is an engaging, amusing and thought-provoking story that I would wholeheartedly recommend.

dog’s life is just what Maddy needs

Until she’s suddenly made redundant. Now she’s 37, jobless, and after the breakup with the former love of her life, unhappily single.

Enter Maddy’s childhood friend, Beth, the owner of Growlers, the doggy daycare centre at Giddywell Grange, on a mission to make Maddy see there’s more to life than work. Maddy finds herself kneedeep in dogs as Beth has to recuperate from an operation and we follow Maddy's story as she realises that there is an alternative lifestyle that doesnt have to include Prada Handbags! I started this book before I read Kim’s post about her inspiration to the book, but I hadn’t quite finished the book. When I went back to the book I had fresh eyes and to be honest it made it all a bit more emosh for me! I finished the book and messaged Kim, and just said you made me cry again! This book is most definitely a book about finding yourself again and finding your place again, something I need to do now and again, a bit of mindfulness.


Maddy, she is just such a lovely character. She has so much love to give but heartache drove her to consume her whole life with work. Then one day work isn’t there anymore and we watch her pick up the pieces. We see at the beginning, her best friend Beth, pushing her out into the community and mucking in at Growlers, the dog home. Seeing her branch out into an allotment. The final third is when her past catches up with her and how she copes with it.

It is hard for Maddy as she has to come to terms with the fact she’s not been there for people, she’s been a bit snotty and she sees people like a bit of a burden. But at the same time, she is wholesome and she wants to do right again that you find it hard not to be mad with her. She was just coping with life and everyone copes differently.

I must admit in the final 3rd of the book I was shouting at Maddy a bit because I became increasingly concerned with her decision making and felt quite frankly I should be in charge, not that it was going to happen, but she pulled through at the final hurdle and all is at peace with the world.

It was the ending that got me. I won’t say why or how, but for me it was beautiful and it happened exactly the way I wanted it too. I closed the kindle with a smile on my face and maybe a few tears down my face…but mainly the smile!!!

I absolutely adored Amazing Grace (which you can check my review out on Anniversary day!) and for the “tough” second novel, Kim has smashed it. I just want to know when I can read another book by her! Knowing that this is partially based on facts, I want to know which bits!! It adds an extra layer to the story and makes it that bit more special for me as a reader. I adored it!

Career-driven, city-girl Maddy, gets a reality kick-butting when instead of the promotion she was certain to get, ends up losing her prized position.

Now what?

Needing to heal some ex-boyfriend wounds and tend to hurt pride, Maddy decides to head back home and escapes to Giddywell Grange.

Comforted by the slower pace of life, Maddy reconnects with her childhood friend Beth. When Beth asks Maddy for help with her doggy daycare Growlers, Maddy agrees. Suddenly all-in, Maddy comes to love the daily routine and opens herself up to other needs in her community - even volunteering at the library.

Although somewhat unsure of it at first, Maddy falls fast for life in Giddywell Grange and its delightful charm and harmonious lifestyle.

When Maddy meets up with Beth’s brother Alex, she is reminded of the easy rapport they always shared. Maddy’s youthful crush on Alex can easily rekindle old feelings but she has to watch out for her heart as he is already in a relationship.

Out of the blue, her ex offers her a prime job and the chance to return to her posh way of life. Sorely tempted yet more than a little skeptical, Maddy has to decide out what she is going to do.

Maddy is a tremendously relatable character: real, insecure, warm, funny - the kind of friend anyone would love to have. Nash has done a wonderful job with all her characters by weaving their lives beautifully into the engaging storylines.

A hands-down, delightful read. Highly and heartily recommended.

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to get to this book. It certainly is a book that you won’t want to put down. I loved all the characters and where this book took me. A lovely read.
