Description

Abigail Apple is running late to meet her blind date when she’s pulled over for speeding. Unfortunately, the follow-the-rules cop doesn’t care that she’s late, let alone that she’s heartbroken because her favorite dog rescue is in danger of being closed. Now she has to meet her date with mud drying on her heels, dog hair covering her dress, and the smell of a barn perfuming her hair. When she arrives, however, Abigail learns her handsome blind date is none other than the cop who pulled her over.

Abigail has no intention of staying until she learns Cooper Hill is heading a committee for the city that will award a six-figure donation to a charity of their choice. So, what’s a girl to do? Abigail decides a second date is the perfect way to convince Cooper to vote for the dog rescue. Soon, however, Abigail is less interested in Cooper’s vote than she is in his deep voice, kind heart, and tender touch.

Will this follow-the-rules cop and this follows-her-heart animal lover learn that despite poor first impressions, second chances can lead to love?

Abigail Apple is running late to meet her blind date when she’s pulled over for speeding. Unfortunately, the follow-the-rules cop doesn’t care that she’s late, let alone that she’s heartbroken...

So funny, this sweet and clean novella flies by. Opposites attract - and complement each other well - in this story about an emotional and spunky woman who meets a stoic and rule-abiding cop. Abigail is passionate about animals, and when her friend’s dog rescue is threatened, she goes into a bit of a tailspin. Letting her emotions rule, she winds up getting pulled over for speeding on her way to a date, and no matter how much she tries, the cop won’t accept her excuses. When she makes it to her date, the man waiting for her is none other than the cop who pulled her over.

These two might not see eye to eye on a lot of things, but there is no denying the sparks that fly between them. It’s a novella so there isn’t a ton of depth to the relationship (and really, I would’ve loved a full length book about these two), but the connection is obvious. There is great bickering/banter, depending on how you see it, and a lightness to the book. I got frustrated with Abigail a few times, but Cooper really does mellow her out well. Thank you, Netgalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this quick but hysterical read.

Million Dollar Date is a short but sweet story about how opposites attract. Abigail Apple is a free spirited animal lover who meets uptight police officer Cooper when he gives her a speeding ticket, only to find out a short time later that he is her blind date.

Despite seemingly opposite personalities, they are instantly attracted to one another. While Abigail fights the attraction, Cooper is all in. Can Abigail get around her preconceived ideas and give Cooper a chance?

Super cute book. Very easy to read with a great under story with a love story on top. It took me a day to read and it was so good.

O' goodness! Where do I even begin with this one?? First off, I loved, loved this book! Susan Hatler has once again given us a great read that has it all. Great characters that you fall in love with immediately, humor, wit, romance and dogs!! Lots of dogs! What a great read!

Abigail Apple is on her way to a blind date when she gets pulled over for speeding. She is running late as it is because she was at her friend's rescue helping with the dogs. Abigail loves to be with Reagan and the dogs on the ranch. It is her happy place. Reagan has just given her some bad news tough that her landlord is not going to renew her rent. She is going to have to shut the rescue down if she can't come up with money to buy the ranch or find a new place that is willing to rent to her for cheap. Abigail is heart broken and talks to Reagan for a few minutes too long, that is why she is speeding to get to her date. Now Abigail is not going to be able to swing by her house to change before she goes to meet her blind date. The cop that stops her has no sympathy at all and gives her a ticket for speeding. Abigail deems him a robot.

When Abigail steps into the restaurant and is being lead to her table by the waiter, she knows that this is some cruel joke that someone is playing on her, her blind date can NOT be the cop that just pulled her over! There is no way. Well, guess what! It sure is! Abigail is not too happy with Cooper and she lets him know it. The date does not go as planned and Abigail is relentless to Mr. Robot.

This book is part of the Do Over Series and I love it. Not the Do Over that you are thinking about, but I love how Susan Hatler wrote it into this story. I don't want to give away any more than I already have because you will love reading this one and getting caught up in it as you read. Such a great read! You won't put it down once you start!

I voluntarily read and reviews this book. All opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book! Great read!

I enjoyed this short clean romance. Animals have a special place in my heart so having a dog rescue as part of the storyline made it hard for me to put down. I feel that both main characters, Abigail and Cooper, are well developed for such a short book. While at first this seems to be a simple opposites attract romance, there is a lot more to this storyline. I love that we find out what made the characters into the people they are in the book. The author does a great job of setting up scenes at the different locations in the book. Her descriptions made me feel like I was there with the characters. The secondary characters in this book are also interesting and leave lots of options for more books in this series.

Overall, this is a fun sweet read with puppies, a somewhat goofy heroine, and a handsome hero in uniform. . What more can you ask for?

The story of Abigail and Cooper. When they first meet they don't know each other and get off to a bad start - he is a cop giving her a speeding ticket. Later the same day she realises he is her date, and plans to get through the evening as quickly as possible - until she realises that he could help save her friends charity. She sets out to get him to support her, but as they spend more time with each other they are falling for each other.

Fun and entertaining short read.

Million Dollar Date is filled with romance and laughter! Susan Hatler is the best at clean romcom and this one is at the top of my favorite list. A matter of chance has Abigail running late for a date, who happens to be the same man who gave her a speeding ticket. Cooper doesn't fall for her tricks, but he plays along, which is even more entertaining. A clean romance, with humor and animals pulling at your heartstrings, this was the perfect combination.

This is my first book by this author and what a great story! This is a very clean romance that was refreshing. I loved that the author put two extremely important causes up for the coveted 10k donation. It added to the story and brought to light how many worthy causes are out there that rely on donations to keep them going.

I loved both main characters, Abigail and Cooper, and the author did a great job in developing both characters fully in such a short book. I also loved the secondary characters and hope that they get their own books too! s.

I look forward to reading more from this author.

As usual Susan Hatler does it again. A light cute meaningful light romance story. A quick fun read. Can’t go wrong picking up this book.

Susan Hatler’s first book, Million Dollar Date, in the Do-over Date series will entertain you with its humor, wry, sharp dialog, and with the quirky character of Abigail. This is definitely a “feel good” rom-com that’s hard to put down. I’m looking forward to the next installment in the series.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Abby is so horrified at the idea of the dog shelter she volunteers at having to close that she accidentally speeds - only to be pulled over by a cop, who insists on booking her. When she soon after turns up to a blind date and finds that same cop to be her date, things don't go well - until she learns that he is part of a committee for deciding which charity will get a large donation from the city. There and then, she decides to get to know him in the hope of saving the dog shelter by winning that donation. But as they get to know each other, she gradually finds that he hasn't always been the rule-follower that he is now - just as she hasn't always been the free-and-easy type she is now. But can there really be common ground between them? And when the crunch comes, will she be willing to trust him?

A new series from the author is an exciting idea, and I think I enjoyed this even more than her last series - I'm certainly looking forward to the next book. As always, this was clean and well written, though I have to admit to being unable to get quite as excited about dogs as Abby... Recommended as a fun, light read that's more than just fluff. 4.5 stars.

Note that I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. This is my considered opinion of the book.

Worst Blind Date ever!!

But the best meet-cute! Abigail is on her way to a blind date, when she gets pulled over for speeding. Imagine her shock when she finally gets to her blind date and there is the officer that pulled her over! They both have terrible impressions of the other! But they eventually put their embarrassing meet-cute behind them, and start listening to each other, seeing the other’s perspective. Although they have different views, both want to serve their community and they balance the weakness in the other person with their unique strengths.

This is a fun, entertaining story.

First meetings can be deceiving…

Cooper is an follow-the-rules cop who meets his total opposite on follow-her-heart Abigail – what seems to be a doomed first meet gets an opportunity for a second chance and allow us to get to know these characters much better! Some funny situations ensue and you cannot help but root for a solution that would make everyone happy!

Bonus: a dog lover story

Sweet, short, and funny opposites attract romance with a HEA that will leave you wanting more. There were a few unexpected typos, and Abigail’s obsession with her own dog might have been a bit much for me (I’m definitely not judging – just an observation), but the story was sweet, funny and heartwarming so you definitely need to give it a try if that’s what you are looking for!
