Jack's Grandfather and Father are both inventors. His Dad has a day job and experiments in the evening. Jack wants to be a detective. When he hears bicycles are being stolen, he gets his team together. It was just going to be him and Teddy but his little sister demands to be included. She's really smart and has a scientific mind, so he lets her in. Then the girl across the street that he has a crush on joins too. Now he has a good sized team.

BooksGoSocial and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and you can grab a copy now.

They begin their surveillance and it features his cousin who is a bully at school. He's a good suspect but it's not him. Then he wants to join their team. Jack says OK but that leads to his cousin inviting his neighbor girl to the upcoming dance. Jack was trying to get brave enough to ask her but he hadn't made it yet. Then he runs into a schoolmate from the past who says she's always had a crush on him, so he invites her so he can watch the other two.

He's going to give up detecting because he failed but his Granddad gives him another case and he solves it so he keep detecting. He sets up a sting using his cousin's father's expensive bike as bait. They bite. They follow them and they find a major operation going on. Can kids take it down?

This is a good story for young adult readers. It's exciting, there is danger, and it takes brains to survive. Give it a try.

Nice story about some young teens who help solve a crime as they play detectives. Easy to read,no cruel scenzes in it so that even younger readers can enjoy it.

Super excited to find this gem. The group is similar to Harry Potter/Stranger Things kids. While Jack is similar to Sherlock. Loved the dialogue between the group and between Jack and Stacey's family. The mystery is pretty straight forward for an adult but for a younger reader perfect. Teddy was my favorite character, he was hilarious. I would read more adventures featuring Jack and the kids plus recommend it to the kids in my family.

This was a fun read, it has a great premise that delivers and has great characters. It had what I was looking for in a children's novel and it was a good first episode in the series.

I don't know how I missed reviewing this one (too many books in my Kindle)... Highly entertaining first book in a new series about a boy detective and his misfit friends! Not hard to imagine middle schoolers being able to relate to this motley bunch of misfits! I can remember feeling much the same in 6-8 grades! Anyway, between the kids, they solve some pretty cool mysteries. Collectively, they are a really great group of characters! I think kids 4-8 grade will enjoy reading this new series. Well written and an easy read.

What a great way to launch a middle grade mystery series! Featuring a unique group of junior detectives, this book is well-written with a smoothly moving plot. Although the stakes aren't as high as you'll find in adult-geared books, Ermilio still manages to build tension while introducing us to unforgettable characters. I liked how they still had to navigate all the typical things you'd expect a middle schooler to, while being determined to solve various mysteries. If this is a sign of things to come, then I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.
