Yes, RJ and Veenie are at it again.

This third caper with our favorite senior snooping sleuths starts off with a missing person. Gertie Wineager wasn't winning any popularity contests, but she was the reigning queen of the BBQ chicken cook-off - part of the annual Chickenlandia Festival.

The plot rapidly thickens when the prize-winning rooster and top laying hen go missing from Ma & Peepaw Horton's - the actual Chickenlandia that the festival is named for.

Add in a rival egg laying operation, a chicken wing king, and Veenie's intense distrust of chickens, and our gal pals are scrambling to find out what happened to Gertie the BBQ queen, Dewey the rooster, and Ginger the hen.

Oh...and then there's Veenie's forklift accident - and a dead body! Yikes!

Fear not, dear readers. By story's end, the cluckers are back in their coop, and the reign of Gertie remains.

Who knows what trouble Veenie and RJ will find themselves in next? I can hardly wait to find out!

This book has the same pace and great descriptions as the first two in the series. The plot is good and there's a lot of funny stuff. Good, light entertainment.

I think this really was set in Southern Wisconsin! Crazy funny! RJ and Veenie have got to be the wackiest pair of amateur sleuth/private investigators to ever solve a mystery, but solve things they do. First there's the missing wife and don't forget the chickens! The publisher's blurb is pretty good and no spoilers here, so just sit back and laugh yourself silly while they do the jobs.
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Books Go Social via NetGalley. Thank you!

I always laugh out loud when I take a book trip to Knobby Waters, IN! That Veenie is such a hoot. The voice of the story is RJ who describes things hilariously to begin with but I always lose it when Veenie sticks her dentures out at people. RJ and Veenie hadn't had a case for quite some time, but in the book they got two, one of which was a guy from a large corporation. They were sure that the disappearance of one of the women in town had something to do with the murder that ended up happening at the Chickenlandia egg company. Veenie can't seem to shake her goofy ex, Fergus, but he came in pretty handy in this book. It's always a funny roller coaster ride with these two awesome senior sleuths! There's a teaser chapter of book four at the end of this book, and now I'm anxious to read that one.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher through NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.

This is the third book of the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency. It is filled with tons of wit and laugh out loud moments.

Lavinia (Veenie) and Ruby Jane (RJ) are two senior PI's, whose mode of transportation is a 1960 Impala are back solving mysteries. When they are hired to find a missing wife, they land a job looking for a missing prizewinning rooster, and favorite hen from Chickenlandia, a free range chicken farm. Ma Horton informs them that Hiram Krupsky, The Hoosier Chicken Wing King, has been after her and Peepaw to sell their farm to him. Hiram shows up at their office wanting to hire them because someone is stealing from his business. RJ and Veenie go undercover as employees and since no one asked if Veenie had a current driver's license, she was assigned to Forklift duty.

What amounts to solving cases ends up in hilarious situations! Veenie is scared of chickens, but requires to run after one when it steals her dentures. RJ gets a makeover, and suddenly has unwanted attention from the males. RJ hasn't dated since her husband, and he passed twenty years ago! Meanwhile, Veenie plays matchmaker. Great series!

I received an ARC by NetGalley via BooksGoSocial and voluntarily reviewed this book.

Like most readers of this, I'd recommended it if you're seeking something funny, light, and different. I live in Indiana, but this is nothing like anything I've seen. But that doesn't change it's entertainment value.

I really appreciate the copy for review!!

Another good fun yarn with RJ and Veenie. For a pair of seniors they do get into some scrapes as trainee private investigators. Who'd have thought that there could be so many chickens in one small area - and that they'd cause so much mayhem.

Loved it - made me chuckle.

I read a free advance review copy. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.

Chickenlandia Mystery is a hilarious Southern mystery adventure. Ruby Jane and Veenie are elderly private detectives who have been tasked to find a missing prize rooster and laying hen (Dewey and Ginger) for Ma and Peepaw Horton, owners of Chickenlandia, an organic, free range chicken farm set in the town of Knobby Waters in PawPaw County, Indiana. Although it’s set in Indiana, it’s definitely a Southern Comedy which turns into a murder mystery when Veenie is accused of killing a rival with a forklift. Ruby Jane and the ankle bracelet wearing Veenie do not let this slow them down as they race to solve a murder, find Dewey and Ginger, and bring peace back to Knobby Waters. If you love mysteries and Southern Comedy, you will love this book, which is #3 in the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency series by Daisy Pettles.. #mysteries #comedy #ShadyHoosierDetectiveAgency #Chickenlandia #DaisyPettles

RJ and Veenie are back solving mysteries in Pawpaw County, Indiana. This time they are hired to find a missing wife, Gertie, who is also the prize winning BBQ Chicken Queen. While they search for her they are also on the hunt for a pair of chickens. They run across thefts from a chicken farm and a dead body. With Veenie being accused of the murder they've gotta figure out what the heck is going on.

I love this series. It's full of senior sleuths having fun solving mysteries and being together. This book also introduces us to a new character that just may play a bigger role in coming books.

Read my share of cozies but this book had to be the most fun to date. I giggled and laughed out loud several times, very humorous. Had to think at times the who what and where. Definitely will read more from this author.

Each instalment in this series is better than the previous and all are fun to read and engrossing.
I love the humour, the well written and quirky cast of characters, and the well plotted mystery.
The mystery is solid and it kept me guessing.
Can't wait to read the next instalment.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Chickenlandia Mystery by Daisy Pettles is the third book in the cozy Shady Hoosier Detective Agency series. Each book of this cozy series contains it’s own mystery that is solved so they can be understood as a standalone. However, there is character building carried over from book to book for those following from the beginning.

Our two main characters of the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency mystery series are a couple of “elderly” ladies, Ruby Jane Waskom and Veenie Goens. Best friends all their lives the pair lean on each other with neither being rich and still needing to work to support themselves they have taken on working at the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency, what better job to put to use their nosy natures.

Ruby Jane and Veenie as usual are willing to take on any case that may come their way when things get slow at the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency. This time around the ladies find themselves working on a chicken-napping case when Dewey, a prize rooster, and Ginger, queen of the laying hens, from Chickenlandia have gone missing but when a murder occurs during the investigation the gals are quickly on the case.

This series is for the fans of the over the top humorous cozies that keep a reader laughing from start to finish. Being from Indiana myself I wasn’t able to pass up this series and while Knobby Waters is fictional many of the other towns mentioned aren’t so I’m familiar with the area and can just imagine these crazy characters there. Of course being a smaller publisher I can see it could use a bit of polish but the laughs and fun story are more than worth it.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

A super entertaining cozy mystery that will keep you smiling right up until you have to jump in and save the day. This was a quick read for me but I enjoyed it so much, I may have to read it again! Anyone who has chickens...I have 17...will recognize themselves in this book.

Chickenlandia Mystery by Daisy Pettles is the 3rd book in the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency series, and another great addition. This book is hilarious, I laughed out loud many times. Ruby Jane and Veenie are senior women who work as private eyes, under a lazy man, who is licensed. In this fun adventure, Ruby Jane and Veenie are on the look out for prized chickens that went missing from Ma and Peepaw Horton's farm. If you feel like laughing, give this book/series a try, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

These forever young gladiators in the investigating arena Veenie and RJ are at it again, and as usual, they bring with them a belly full of laughs as they investigate the mysterious circumstances of the missing barnyard king and the queen of the chicken coop and of course a woman. Their crime-solving techniques are pretty unorthodox and funny, leaving you with a barrel of laughs, as they solve the mystery in their bumbling old-style fashion.

Another great adventure from our two senior private investigators, Ruby Jane and Veenie.
Their first case is the missing BBQ Queen from the biggest local attraction in PawPaw county - the Chickenlandia Festival. But then two prize chickens are kidnapped and farm supplies start to go missing.
Who is behind the crime wave? A rival chicken producer who is well known for her dirty tricks? Or a local businessman determined to take over the world market for chicken parts?
Before you can say chicken wings, Veenie gets into a cat fight, ends up in jail and RJ has to get to the truth by going undercover - even at the risk of her love life.
Loved the rich setting and antics of the local characters who RJ and Veenie have known all of their lives.
A great escapist read.

Chickenlandia, Book Three of the Shady Hoosier Detective series, is a cluck from start to finish. Come along with R.J. and Vernie as they attempt to find Tater's missing wife, while also looking for a pair of missing chickens.

Although the language may be a little too homespun and folksy for some readers, Chickenlandia will be great fun for cozy mystery lovers.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital copy of this title to review from Net Galley.

The Shady Hoosier Detective Agency is back and Ruby Jane and Veenie are in the middle of a "fowl" mystery! Will Dewey the prize rooster and Ginger the egg laying queen be found and will the murderer of a hated chicken rancher be solved before the ladies become the next victims?

Ruby Janre and Veenie are a hoot! You'll love their friendship and determination to succeed. If you love quirky and lovable characters, search no more. I would recommend reading the first two books in the series first - only because you won't want to miss one moment with these unique and hilarious private investigators!

Another visit to Chickenlandia is scheduled!

I received an ARC from NetGalley for a fair and honest review of this book!

Wow, this silly, fun and highly entertaining book is a winner! This is the third book in the series and they just keep getting better. This was a very easy read for me. I live the senior sleuths and their antics. Prepare to laugh out loud and if you havent read the first two book, I suggest you grab your credit card and but them today. You will not be sorry.

This is another book of lovable nonsense from our pair of senior sleuths Ruby Jane and Veenie. I use ‘nonsense’ in an admiring way in that it’s all larger than life, a little bit nuts and over the top, but with this pair of characters any less just wouldn’t cut it! It’s a fast-paced, laugh-aloud read packed with wit and clever writing. It’s wonderful entertainment from start to finish.
And it features chickens which, being something of a crazy bird lady, means it’s pretty much perfection.
The characters are all eccentric in one way or another, which makes them memorable and fascinating. It also reflects real life, even though there’s a touch of exaggeration. I mean, how many totally normal people do any of us know?
The plot is tight and exciting. A brilliant read.

This is one of the funniest books I've read recently. The senior citizen sleuths made me laugh and wish I could know them. I am definitely going to read the other books in this series!

Over the top, outlandish, totally silly and SO MUCH FUN!
It is time once again for the annual BBQ chicken contest and the many years reigning champion, Gertie Wineagar, has gone missing, bringing her long suffering husband to tears.
This is a boon to Senior sleuths, Ruby Jane Waskom and Veenie Goens, who haven`t had a decent case in a while. They have been reduced to local gossip and spying on the neighbor`s antics for entertainment. Along the way, they discover that someone else`s prize chicken and rooster have disappeared, and other more minor crimes are being committed. Can this all be related?
I don`t want to give any spoilers, as this is a fast paced, page turning, clue filled mystery with personality. Far over the top personality.
You will laugh your way through even as you hold your breath wondering if these two super senior sleuths survive.

Oh my word! This series just keeps getting better and better! If you're looking for a light hearted and humorous mystery then check out this book.. Senior sleuths RJ and Veenie are running around like chickens with their heads cut off when there's "fowl" play in the days leading up to the Chickenlandia Festival! Several twists and turns will keep you guessing until the end! I really enjoy this series and look forward to the next book by this author.

Pawpaw County, Indiana is all a twitter with the annual chickenfest happening. That is, until Ma and Peepaw Horton’s prized rooster and hen go missing. RJ and Veenie are hired, however, to search for the missing Chicken BBQ queen instead. Things turn even darker when the local chicken dance king is run over by a car with out of state plates. Can things get any stranger or darker for the people of Pawpaw County!?

To say that I love (LOVE) this series is an understatement. I don’t know if it is because I’m from Indiana and know just how crazy the folks here can be or if it is the characters that Daisy Pettle’s creates or maybe a little of both! What I do know is that this cozy mystery series is a laugh out loud good time and fun reading.

Through the previous two books, we have come to love the chickens – and Rooster Dewey – at the Horton’s farm. The chicken houses are built to resemble famous buildings from all over the world, including the white house, so naturally we and the people of PawPaw County are very worried when something fowl happens there. Then, of course, there is the mysterious disappearances of the BBQ queen and more….. What makes Chickenlandia and this series so wonderful are the senior sleuths who work at the Detective Agency. I’m not sure I ever have read about or related to fictional characters as much as I do RJ and Veenie. They are colorful, hilarious and always get their man with plenty of laughs, sarcasm and shenanigans along the way. If you like cozy mysteries and if you love humor, then this is a book for you. You can read Chickenlandia as a stand alone, but the books are quick reads and I suggest you read them all.
