In a medieval land four identical brothers, in the guise of one prince, battle a mysterious evil.

A riveting tale of fantasy and adventure, Kinghood follows the secret lives of quadruplets Symon, Dawkin, Ely, and Gerry. Since birth, they have taken turns serving as their island’s monarch-in-waiting, Prince Jameson. Through careful planning, they have managed to cultivate the image of a perfect royal, a rising star within their kingdom. Handsome. Strong. Intelligent. Charismatic. A natural-born leader.

But such an icon has come at a cost. The alliance between brothers is fragile and taut, with each different in personality and ambition, eager to make their own mark on the world.

In the midst of this darkness and intrigue, their father the king is assassinated. Chaos ensues. Allies talk of usurping the throne while murderers and plotters seem to stalk every corner. Forced to put aside their differences, the brothers unite to face their enemies and rise as one.

One of the main genres I read is fantasy. As such it is no surprise that I absolutely adored this book.
The premise of the story is that four quadruplets act as the one Prince, they each take turns acting as the Prince and it is very amusing seeing the different personalities each possess.
The premise of this story and the story itself was amazing. The world building was brilliant, it was beyond easy to picture the story unfolding due to the authors word use and descriptions.
The only issue I had was sometimes the writing was a bit awkward.
Other than that a wonderful first book in a series, very keen to see what the next books have in store!

I was given this free review copy at my request.

Oh baby! Phew! I don't know how I should review it as whatever I say would just degrade the book. The story is just amazeballs, when I screened through the book, it seemed not like the book I'd like as the Kindle version was pretty messed up but when I actually started reading word by word.... Ooohlalala! The story has action, royalty, wars, conspiring Barons, beautiful alliances (by marriage), hiers and Saliswater dynasty/kin name to protect. I can see it having a potential of drama and action, a really great Tv series like GOT.
Oh dear, how I enjoyed and loved the world!

The world is full of fantasy with war and royals and all that dwells in between. It's almost enough to become more than predictable. But Kinghood was anything but easy to guess. The prose, settings and intricate plot were stellar. I hope to see much more from this author in the future.

Kinghood by Joshua Rutherford. Written well, very little introduction to the characters though and so it was hard to get into for me. I do think it will appeal to a large audience. Thank you for giving me a chance with this book.

Reading this felt like binge watching a fantasy mini on Netflix. The atmosphere was rich, the court politics were engaging and the plot will surely hold for a hell if a good time series.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book!
What an exciting fantasy title with great characters!

I definitely liked exploring each prince's personality, especially, because they think so differently. I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning, about how will they manage to solve all the problems of a kingdom this way.
The stakes are high, the tension is built really well, I enjoyed reading this one a lot!

The book is simply mysterious. It was very hard to know what would happen next and I loved that. Prince Jameson is truly amazing. All the princes are different in their own way and I loved reading how they acted. The plot was truly amazing. It just made me want to know more and I love this book.

I found Kinghood an extremely enthralling novel quite unlike anything else I've read before. 4 identical princes each with their own unique personality has to pretend to be the same person for the sake of ruling the kingdom.
Joshua Rutherford has written a beautiful book so rich in description that you feel like you are part of it.
Fantastic twist which makes you want to read book 2.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this copy in exchange for an honest review.

This story intrigued me very much, because it is something I had never seen before. A high fantasy land (though with very few fantastical elements, so what even do you call that?), where four princes, quadruplets, share the throne, making the public believe there is but one crown prince when in reality there are four young men staying hidden, arranging their different skills and personalities and fairly taking turns in playing the role of crown prince. Obviously, things become a little more difficult when the kingdom and the throne are threatened. The four protagonists are clearly distinguished from each other and all have interesting sides and negative traits. They work well together, too, and each conversation or confrontation was interesting. I would have wished for a bit of an easier transition into the plot in the beginning, as it started with a bang of battle and some time jumps and confused me. But that got better later: the pacing overall was well done, there are slight hints towards problems, which gradually and naturally grow bigger until exploding. What I was missing until the very end was a basic explanation for the whole charade. That left a bitter note, as did the fight scenes, which were too detailed and almost surgical and lost all momentum of the action and the danger. However, overall, I found this a well-executed great idea, which was interesting to read.
