I definitely enjoyed this novel and was happy with how the story ended. Though I wish I was able to see or read about every one's happily ever after. Maybe there's a book 2? I'll certainly be on the lookout. The novel is not your ordinary romance and this has the most peculiar courtship!

Love on the Sound by Ciara Knight is a mail order bride romance. This is book 5 in the series.

Francine takes her sister's place to travel from the east to Seattle as a mail order bride. She was trying to protect her sister. When she arrives after her long journey she is met by a man who looks like a bear, has a terrible temper, and he was late picking her up. She refuses to marry Walter but agrees to work for him and his brothers as a cook and housekeeper. Walter and Thomas are twins but do not get along. Youngest brother Adam tries to be the peacemaker. Francine becomes something new to fight about even though Thomas is already married.

I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the earlier books. Francine is a very strong and independent woman in a time when women were usually pampered and taken care of by men. Walter is a bit of a loner who is haunted by his past.

A mail bride, can you imagine that! As much as it sounds funny to me it was pretty good. Especially in such an era. I had no idea this was a series, but it worked well for me though as it stood alone. Easy to read and fast paced. Love the strong female character of Francine, Not a lot of romance as I would have loved to read about, but still it was cute. I still wanted more from Walter and Francine relationship. Thanks to Author collective 20 and Netgalley for the ARC

I saw this beautiful cover and was intrigued. I read the blurb and was even more intrigued. But for some reason, I completely missed that this was book 5 in a series. I guess we can blame it on my tired brain not picking up on those details at the time. But never fear, I enjoyed it and didn't feel the least bit lost. So there's a plus right there!

The book opens with Francine arriving on a ship in Seattle to meet her contracted husband. She and her sisters were left destitute after the Civil War and each sign up to be a mail order bride. Each book in the series shows a different sisters' story. Francine has seen a lot in her lifetime after living through the war. She is determined to marry a kind and gentle man. Yet her first impression of Walter Hunt is anything but that.

Walter and his brothers, Thomas and Adam have some history. They have left the south and ventured to Seattle are to start their own business. Yet they still have struggles between each other and those struggles flair up when Francine arrives on the scene. Walter will have to figure out how to court her if he is to prove to her that he is the better brother and the man who will care for her.

I really enjoyed the setting of this book. Having lived in a big logging community before it was fun to be reading about the Hunt brothers' logging business and ventures. The characters were well written. Especially with all of their hurt and back story. There are some sweet and tender moments shared by them and on the flip side, there are some hard and hurtful moments shared by them.

I loved watching Walter watching Francine and discovering what she enjoyed and desired. How he worked hard to show her that he supported her. She had to decide what she truly wanted. And let me tell you, that wasn't an easy thing because of all the pressure she was getting to pick and do certain things from other characters in the book.

The sweet love story had me cheering for the couple. And I'll admit there were moments that I wanted to reach through my book and tell these characters what was what and that they better shape up or they were going to get their comeuppances. And on the flip side, I sighed and giggled and smiled and felt sorrow for some of their sorrows.

Content: Clean. Some fighting and some very mild innuendo. Nothing more than a few kisses.

I received a copy from the publisher, Author Collective 20, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

This was a beautiful story about honesty and forgiveness. It is a story about a woman, Francine, who takes her sister's place as a mail order bride because she is worried about her sister's health and ability to make the long journey to Washington territory. She is betrothed to Walter Hunt. When she arrives, she finds Walter Hunt in a brawl. His twin brother, Thomas, does everything he can to convince Francine that Walter is not good for her. That he can't love.

Walter was Thomas' Union commander in the Civil War and Thomas resents Walter and continues to believe that Walter considers Thomas a coward but Thomas doesn't know or want to believe the true story about Walter. Thomas returned home and married the girl that Walter had been betrothed to. There is such animosity between these two brothers. Adam, is the level-headed younger brother that tries to be a peacemaker. At times, I wanted to throttle Thomas because of his hatred of Walter and determination to destroy him.

There is a happy ending and a beautifully told story of love and redemption. The story is clean with no foul language or graphic sex scenes.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

The brothers had to learn to love each other again but one was so set in his ways he made life difficult and almost impossible for the other. Poor Francine was in a tug of war with the two brothers and she had reached her limit, it was time to take the bull by its horns, so to speak. An enchanting and exquisite story where true love would determine the course.

Sisterly love is a strong thing, a bond not meant to be broken. In this continuation of the McKinnie Mail Order Brides this is book 5.
We find a sister taking her sister's place in a mail order bride proposal because she thinks it;s the thing to do to protect her.
She is not expecting what she is greeted with, a bear of a man, quarrelsome and late to pick her up to boot!
Fast paced read with some unexpected twists.

Sweet mail order romance. Francine arrives to marry Walter Hunt; however, she has to determine what his true character by deciphering the lies that his twin brother, James, tells at every turn. This was a quick read, with a sweet story of self-discovery and standing up for what you truly wish for your own life.

Southern Belle, Francine McKinnie, faces a difficult life as a logging man’s wife after sacrificing her mail-order proposal to a cattle baron for her sister's sake.
Walter proposes a business arrangement to Ms. McKinnie, his protection for her help in acquiring investors for his proposed logging mill. Their marriage would be a ruse, but a beneficial one for them both.
Little did Walter know but his attraction to his mail order bride may turn into so much more.
This book contains a lot of sibling rivalry and jealousy. I do not usually care for books with a mail order bride scenario but this one surprised me with it's intensity.
I finished it in one evening. This is my first time reading a book by this author.
I gave this book 4.5 of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization. I liked both the H & h and some of the secondary characters but I disliked Walter's twin brother at introduction.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which i read and reviewed voluntarily.

Can you imagine traveling to a strange place and marrying a man you never met? Well Francine McKinnie only hoped for a calm, good man after enduring the war in the south. She lost most of her family except her sister who she had traded places with on their husband choice. She traveled on a ship to get to her bethrothed Walter Hunt, but finds him in a brawl, filthy and definately not soft spoken or calm. But his twin brother Thomas comes in to save the day. Well, like the underhanded brother he is it seems!
Walter has had a really hard time, once he followed his brothers and set up to own land and do logging. His twin stole the previous woman he was to marry and was trying to take charge.
This is a journey to two people, both having scars from the past who each want a future, but it will be a journey to get there and what a journey it will be!
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the next in this series.
