Explosive Vengeance

I loved everything about this book!! Let’s talk about what a fun thrill ride Kaylea Cross took us on! I didn’t realize that I was coming in late to this series but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment. I loved the explosive (wink wink) personality of Chloe and the way Heath brought her such grounding and peace. There was action galore and some hot sexy times as well. After I finish writing this, I’m going to rush and buy the first book in the series and start binging!

4.25 stars--EXPLOSIVE VENGEANCE is the second instalment in Kaylea Cross’ contemporary, adult VENGEANCE romantic suspense series focusing on a group of women once known as the Valkyrie-members of a secret CIA government project. This is explosive specialist and Valkyrie Chloe Wilson, and former para-jumper Heath Barrett’s story line. EXPLOSIVE VENGEANCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion as there is an ongoing arc throughout. The VENGEANCE series is a spin-off from the author’s HOSTAGE RESCUE TEAM series. You do not have to have read the original series to follow or understand but it is recommended to read DISAVOWED (Hostage Rescue Team #4).

SOME BACKGROUND: Years earlier, an unsanctioned, secret CIA run project ‘stole’, brainwashed and trained a number of orphan girls in an effort to design the perfect killing machine known as the Valkyrie. The project was disbanded but the Valkyrie have since found themselves targeted by someone high in the organization, someone who is willing to kill to protect the secrets they know. Deadly operatives trained to work alone, each a specialist in a different field, the Valkyrie struggle when they find themselves losing their heart and falling in love.
Told from several third person perspectives including Chloe and Heath EXPLOSIVE VENGEANCE follows the building relationship between explosive specialist and Valkyrie Chloe Wilson, and former para-jumper Heath Barrett. Chloe Wilson is determined to stop a human trafficking ring centered in Paris, France by first taking down Dominic Dubois, the current man in charge, but her love of pyro-technics has caught the eye of the women once known as the Valkyrie, women who are desperate to protect the sisters of their heart. After leaving a trail of death and destruction in her wake, Chloe journeys cross country in an effort to track down Dominic’s brother Guillaume, a man whose own crimes against humanity rivals his now dead brother’s. Hoping to protect one of their own, Tyler Bergstrom and his Valkyrie girlfriend Megan, call in reinforcements to cover our story line heroine. Enter former para-jumper Heath Barrett, and the man with whom Chloe will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Chloe and Heath; the potential fall-out as Chloe goes rogue in an effort to take down Guillaume Dubois, and Heath’s time in Europe comes to a close.

Chloe Wilson is on a mission to take down the men currently operating a human trafficking ring but first Chloe must rescue the women who are about to be sold to the highest bidder. Killing Dominic Dubois was easy but taking down his brother Guillaume finds Chloe working with her former Valkyrie sisters, woman Chloe hasn’t seen in a number of years. Heath Barrett had no idea the mess he was about to encounter when his best friend Tyler Bergstrom asked for a favor. Meeting Chloe Wilson stirred something deep and protective in our story line hero, something Heath refused to look at knowing he was about to be deployed on another mission.

The relationship between Chloe and Heath is one of immediate attraction but Chloe doesn’t want a babysitter or protection, and Heath struggles with a lack of information regarding his current assignment. Ever the protector, Heath battles between head and heart when it comes to the woman with whom he will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Megan Smith and Tyler Bergstrom (Stealing Vengeance #1), Amber Brown and Jesse Cordova (Covert Vengeance #2), former SAS veteran Marcus Laidlaw, retired SF and NSA agent Alex Rycroft; former Valkyrie Trinity Durant, and Kyiomi; sex traffickers Dominic and Guillaume Dubois.

EXPLOSIVE VENGEANCE is a story of family, friendship, vengeance and love; a story of women who have been trained in the art of assassination, women who have little to no memory of a time before, who have lived an unconventional and destructive life. The premise is engaging and suspenseful; the characters are strong, intelligent and colorful; the romance is seductive and hot. EXPLOSIVE VENGEANCE is an intriguing and enthralling addition to the author’s VENGEANCE series.

Wow, each of the books in this series just keep getting better and better! The Valkyries are so deadly and like a female super hero!

Poor Heath thinks that he is helping out a woman who needs protection and comes to find out that Chloe doesn't need a man for that - she is lethal.

This book is non-stop action and it was hard to put it down as I just kept wanting to know how each encounter ended! Add in the former Valkyries from previous books and their significant other and you keep up with their lives and add a new couple to the mix.

I liked that we saw a bit from the "bad guy's: POV and what was going on with his thinking. I hope that little garden encounter with Marcus and Kiyomi is a hint for a future with them. They both seem so damaged and would be a good fit for each other.

Can't wait for the next book in this series!.

Puls pounding action, suspense, and the perfect dose of romance with some humor thrown in makes for a page turner. I love the Valkyrie series and Chloe was even more than I expected. She is a bit over the top in all areas but with her background and specialty, it absolutely makes sense for her character. Heath was one of my favorites of the alpha men in this series so far. The bad guys in this one are horrible and the perfect goes for this team to take on. I can't wait to see what happens next!

This series gives you all the feels! From hot passion, terrifying situations, horrific abuses and a great dollop of humour.

Poor Heath. He just wants a holiday before his next contract in Syria commences. He did not expect a call from his buddy Ty asking him to shadow a woman and keep her safe. Chloe, however, is not your average damsel in distress, she's more like to cause the distress!

But after meeting the business end of Chloe's weapon, he finally convinces her he's there to help and off they se on a whirlwind tour of Europe, trying to keep the monster, who pantomines as a businessman and paragon of family, from making another delivery of human cargo.

I loved meeting Itchy and Twitchy, LOL. Heath kind of stabilised Chloe's more...explosive ideas and she made his knight in shining armour routine really hard to implement. She is more than capable of helping herself. She may not NEED saving, but he wants to all the same.

I love this highly dysfunctional family of Special Operators. The Valkyrie Programme has a lot to answer for but they really instilled in these women what traits they want in their own little family. The supportng characters are really well formed and I'm slowly falling for Marcus and his canine companion.

Looking forward to seeing what's in store for Eden!

Another brilliant book from the very talented Kaylea Cross her books are always fast paced and fillled with suspense and drama and this one was no exception She is fast becoming a one click author for me in fact I bought this book for my library

Like her other Valkyrie's Chloe Wilson is highly trained but unlike the others we have met she is also a demolition expert When the program is shut down she realises her covert identity has been compromised and she is intent on letting her other Valkyrie sister know but they are a step ahead and they have sent former Pararescue man Heath Barrett to keep her safe. Chloe doesn't think she needs his help and she certainly doesn't need him distracting her not when she is bent on revenge for her friend killed in their last mission or saving women that are in danger He is starting to fall for this crazy woman but will he be able to keep her safe long enough to get her to the rest of the team in London.

Explosive!

Action packed and full of drama and heart! Heath and Chloe make a great addition to the Valkyrie team.

Another drama filled story in the Vengeance series. Explosive Vengeance is Chloe and Heath’s story. Both main characters are tough as nails but so completely different. Chloe was a bit of a wild card. She is single-minded about her all missions and has always worked alone. Heath is known to have a white knight complex, he just can’t seem to help himself to always needing to help. He is definitely the calm to Chloe’s chaos.

Since the disbanding of the Valkyrie’s project, Chloe has been on her own and seeking vengeance against human traffickers. Unfortunately with her latest target, she is now placed in danger. With the help of her former roommate, Chloe and her boyfriend Tyler, Heath is brought in to keep her safe.

As much as I enjoyed the chemistry between Chloe and Heath, I wasn’t too much of a fan of Chloe. I love bada$$ heroines, but Chloe was a bit too much for me. I appreciated her drive to rescue these women from horrible situations, but she was almost too brash in her actions. Heath was a dream, he called Chloe on some of her decisions but continued to support and be there for her.

Overall, this latest installation to this series was good and looking forward to more.

Explosive Vengeance is just that...explosive! Book #3 in the series is a solid read. I enjoyed this fast paced romantic suspense novel.

The Valkyries are looking for the remaining women and gathering the ones they find and going to put them in a WITSEC program. Chloe is an explosive expert and one of the Valkyries. Chloe has taken out one very bad guy who was selling women and now he’s brother is out to get her and kill her. Heath is a former Pararescueman but now works security. He’s on vacation and gets a call from his best friend to keep an eye on a woman. He thinks she’s defenseless and helpless but boy he couldn’t be more wrong. After she catches him following her, they have to hide from the guy she’s hunting. While tracking a cargo of trafficked women, they start to fall for each other. Can they save the women and stay alive? Loved this story. Action from the first to last page. Two people who have been orphaned find love.
