Description

I close my eyes hoping it will pass. When I open them back up—I’m still lost in it.

Love is an explosion you can't contain.

Love is the impact after the bang.

Love is going to destroy us.

I have never fit in.

Insignificant.

Quiet.

Alone. That’s me.

Wilder Elordi’s has always been a wreck.

He’s Neglected.

Abused.

Broken.

And he’s protected me since first grade.

We aren’t just friends we are in love with each other. I didn’t fall in love, it drop kicked me in the face. Our love for each other is more than we know what to do with.

It’s beautiful but it always ends.

That’s why I don’t want any part of it.

But moving away for college changes everything.

I close my eyes hoping it will pass. When I open them back up—I’m still lost in it.

Love is an explosion you can't contain.

Gah, this book was so good! I loved every minute of it. I couldn’t put it down for anything.

Vi and Wilder are freaking amazing. Both of these two have know each other since grade school, and Wilder has always had Vi’s back. These two became best friends and no one could tear them apart. Years later as they grew up, you see a change in them. We all know after high school things change. The people we once hung out with can move on. It’s part of growing up. But these two still talk, but are leading different lives. Wilder has gone through A LOT in his years and has had to grow up fast. He lives his life in the fast lane, and doesn’t have a care in the world, except for two things.. Vi, cause she’s his everything, and his little brother. Vi on the other hand has moved onto collage trying to escape her past, but she knows she can count on one person and that’s Wilder. These two are a match made in heaven, but I swear they just have to take that leap of faith. This book has so much angst, and I snickered at a few little parts. Watching these two has been a fun little journey, and I wish I could get more of them!

I really enjoyed this story, for the most part.

This is a young adult, friends to lovers story. The relationship between Violet and Wilder is well fleshed out, neither of them have an easy life and they find solace in each other, but it takes a lot longer and a number of life lessons for either of them to admit their feelings for each other run deeper than friendship.

Violet's mother's a great character. Even though she'll never win mother of the year, her heart was in the right place.

As for Wilder's mother, yeah, let's not go there. Grr!

I get why Violet was so sad, but for the first half of the book, she cried so much, rather than empathize with her, it started to grate on my last nerve.

The pacing and plot are on point, except for one episode that left me scratching my head. I even backtracked to see if I’d missed something. I simply couldn’t imagine Violet's mother sitting at home relaxing with a drink after such a horrific event. In fact, the entire neighbourhood should've been reeling, but it was almost a non-event. Also, the Christmas Even timeline felt off t me.

My quibbles aside, this story is well-penned and I urge lovers of young adult, friends to lovers type stories to give it ago.

I absolutely love me some Wilder. He was such an handsome asshole!
He and Violet was so good together, even though he was such an ass and Violet was a little annoying.
