The Princess Who Forgot She Was Beautiful

The Princess who forgot she was beautiful by William David Ellis. A remarkable book that I was initially a little skeptical of, but turned out to be much better than my expectations!

I really appreciated how original this story felt and how adorable and even fierce some of the characters were. Hank, an elderly man, begins to narrate a story for children that attend his daughter's library (she is the librarian). As hank tells his story the children become so absorbed that they would rather spend the night there and continue to listen, rather than going home, in anticipation of what happens next. Not only are the children infatuated with Hank's story telling, but so are the parents; this leads to a myriad of people showing up for "story time" and bringing their children every time Hank is there. The story Hank unfolds is so unique and so exciting, but little did the children know the story was about to play out right before their very eyes.

If you like dragons, princesses and knights in shining armor; including adorable little kids and their silly reactions, then this book is for you. Although- it's not all just full of cuteness, as there is a villain waiting to be unleashed and darkness to be unveiled.

Thank you to the author for an ARC copy of this book, I enjoyed it and am happy to learn there will be 4 more books to this series.

Caution - this book is not for children! An old man agrees to share a story at the local library. He started telling the story, it was about a princess who forgot she was beautiful, she was 16, she cussed, spitted, and was unkind to others.
Then, a commotion at the local market by a rambunctious 500 pound pig occurred. This pig chased a boy, who ate the backside of his pants, then he grabbed the pigs snout, rode it, and seized the nearest person, the princess to shield him.
The princess did so, then was angry at the people who made fun of Harry, the boy who captured the pig.
Harry was embarrassed because he had used the princess as a shield.
Then, the princess was captured by Romlott Hus, an evil dragon, who wanted to destroy the princess’ kingdom.
Harry dreams that he sees the princess, she begs him to rescue her......

this was a great fairy tale story, the characters were great and I really enjoyed reading it overall.

Entering the library to visit with his daughter, the older man was convinced to entrance children with a story. Becoming a storyteller, he entranced the children to sit down in front of him to listen to the story. With the help of some of the children whom asked questions and at times interrupted his chain of thoughts. At times the storyteller wasn’t up to finishing the story as it brought many different memories for him. As the story progressed he realised his princess was one of the children and the villain began to emerge. The storyteller went out of his way to protect his family, the girls family and the other children and their families. Giving a five star rating as a reader who loves a book with many twists and turns which leads to a cliffhanger hanger of an ending. I am on tenderhooks waiting on the next instalment. Definitely a recommended book series for those who love Christian sci fi and fantasy styled stories.
