I'd enjoyed Beach's romance so I thought I'd check this out. So glad I did--I like this one even better! The hero is likable--fun to read about a young man finding his way rather than a Jack Reacher automaton, and the female characters are real, individual people, rather than Women To Be Saved. This one's in the Caribbean rather than Australia, but the sense of place is vivid and realistic. Though it's part of a series, apparently, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, so it's a satisfying read on its own.
