Description

Chicago-based U.S. Attorney, Abby Toth, is handed an unusual case that’s far from the predictable ones of tax evasion, racketeering and drug trafficking she’s been prosecuting for the past 7 years. This time, she’s poised to take down a dirty undercover cop, Jon Brannigan, accused of the attempted murder of a Federal agent.

Immediately, she is drawn into the world of Ivan Horvat, an alleged sex trafficker who will stop at nothing to protect and expand his international empire, including seducing Brannigan and his team with millions, securing their silence. With Brannigan's decision to provide the evidence Abby needs to bring multiple charges against Horvat, she is poised to win the biggest case of her career. All she has to do is provide immunity and witness protection for Brannigan's fellow team members.

Abby becomes only one of his many victims when she is framed by Horvat for the murder of one of her oldest friends, Casey, taking her off the case she was set to win, forcing her to make hard choices that will change her emotionally and physically. She is looking for justice, and with Ivan Horvat clearly in her sights, she launches a plan that will compel her to embrace the new Abby.

Her plan is dangerous and she must rely on a former lover, Drew Jones, Casey's protege, Des, as well as an aging crime boss to execute it. Betrayal, murder, blackmail and evil follow her, but she’s willing to risk everything, even her life, to find justice.

This was a great read that was filled with tons of suspense that kept me guessing until the very last page. I really enjoyed this, as the characters were well developed and the plot moved at a great pace, not too fast or too slow. I can't wait to read more from this author!

As an early reader of Karen’s first & second novels, I was not surprised that I liked her third novel, “Justice Found”. But more than that, it had a different flavor, a more fully developed cast of characters, and a much different storyline. It read from what could be believable headlines of today, with plot twists galore, changes of direction in every chapter. And of course, Karen’s signature surprise ending. (Don’t peek).

From a human sex trafficking business in Croatia, the trail leads to the more lucrative US market, and into the hands of Abby Troth, a prosecutor with the US Attorney’s Office in Chicago.

Enter a bent cop (and mob enforcer), plus Drew Jones, an unscrupulous mob attorney. Drew’s best clients are the local crime families, and he understands their loyalty to those that serve them well, as well as the summary treatment of those that fail them. Could he be an unlikely ally to Abby?

And then meet a wonderful cast of characters that help Abby with a multi-year quest for justice when she is framed for murder.

A story of innocence, revenge, retribution, and finally………….”Justice Found”.

This is a well-crafted, exciting story that you should not pass up.

Take my advice and read this one first, and then venture on to Karen’s other two novels.

I received this book through the ReadNow program on NetGalley.

Abby Toth is a highly respected prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office located in Chicago. She is pursuing a case against Ivan Horvath who is a big time sex trafficker. Jon Brannigan , an undercover cop, who took money from Ivan has been arrested and charged with assault of a Federal Agent. He is offered a deal and with his testimony, she expects to finally have Ivan brought to court to face charges. Things do not go as planned with Jon Brannigan being murdered and Abby being convicted of the murder of her friend Casey. She was framed, and while being transferred to prison, she was rescued by her friend Des.

Abby at that point made it her priority to bring Ivan down and to clear her name even though everyone belied she had died. Abby had plastic surgery and changed her name. She schemed to work her way into Ivan's organization and bring it down. The plan she devised was masterful and everything fll into place.

The ending was excellent. You need to read this book to find out how it all went down, you will be amazed.

Whew! Nail biting hold on to your chair suspense. Crime bosses, money laundering, lawyers, dark web, Machiavellian maneuvers and a lifetime of plotting revenge fill the pages of his book. No spoilers so 'nuff said.' Jacket cover describes basic plot. Characters are conversational and none are very likeable, even when they work inside the law, but it will keep you reading .
I received this book as a complimentary copy for an unbiased review. The opinions expressed are my own. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.
