Aside from a few of the illustrations not being my favourite - I really quite enjoyed this book! I love the relationship made between religion and science. This book is very simple and easy to read with lots of scientific facts for a young, curious mind. I am always looking for ways to get kids more interested in space, so I love this idea.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This book explains in an easy to understand format, how space and the universe were made. The book refers to god throughout but not in a forcefully way and the illustrations were lovely.
My little one is learning about space in school so she will love reading this book.
The back few pages after the story explain about god and space and how the bible connects with the two.
I really enjoyed this book and think its a great short book for children starting to learn about space.

God Made Space by Stephanie Bryant is a lovely children’s book about space. This book is easy to read and full of beautiful and colorful illustrations.

The books description states:

I have enjoyed reading this book to my children. This book would be good to use in a science lesson or Sunday school lesson. It would also make a great gift for a child.

I have two problems with the content of this book. First, the authors mention the Big Bang, which to me is something that people refer to when they do not want acknowledge God as Creator; they want to believe that the universe just randomly happened. The Bible tells us that God spoke to create the heavens and the earth. He did not randomly create the universe; He had a plan before the beginning of time. Secondly, the authors use the phrase "over a long, long time" when talking about God filling His universe. It is unclear if the authors mean a long, long time as thousands of years or millions of years and perhaps that is the point; they wanted to leave that open to interpretation.

I did appreciate the authors focus on God as Creator and how we can use science to observe all the awesome things He created in space. Also, the experiments and activities at the end of the book look like a lot of fun and I know my kids would enjoy doing them.

I thought the illustration was great and the subject matter was fantastic. My 6 year old appreciated it but it was quite lengthy and had some disorganization to some of the thoughts. We are always looking for ways to show our children that God created it all including science and there can be both so I think it did hit the mark.

I was super excited to read this book. Too often we get the idea that science and religion cannot coexist. Bryant sets out to prove that idea wrong, celebrating science as a part of the world God has created. The Big Bang, planets, stars, expansion. All of these ideas are expressed in simple language. It's not a full explanation but basic concepts that could lead to a deeper discussion.

This short children's book is part of the "GOD MADE" series produced in collaboration with The Faraday Institute for Science and Religion. Other titles in the series are God Made the World and God Made Animals.

The illustrations are colourful and interesting. The authors use scientific ideas to explain in simple language how they think God made the universe. They show and tell how to use science to see, explore and help understand what God has created in space.
There are some science experiments
and activities after the story that children might enjoy. The book ends with a note for parents or teachers about science and the Bible.
Thanks to Lion Hudson Limited, and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book. The thoughts expressed are my own.
