What is a journey? To some, it might involve simply travelling from place to place. But a true journey includes a search into one's own heart, to find what lies inside.
Destruction has been found close -- too close -- to the city. The city sorcerers and sorceresses consult the Great Seer, whose vision states that 'No man can defeat the warlock. But there is a One. The One shall be given the Way by the Witch of the Great East Wood.' And so two sorceresses and the group forming their escort set out in search of the Witch for more information. But who is the One who can defeat the warlock? If no 'man' can do so, is the One a sorceress? Or perhaps the female soldier in the escort? Or perhaps a male who is not a human at all?
The group has many questions, and they will find some answers -- perhaps more than expected -- On the Trail of the Ruthless Warlock.

I just finished reading On the Trail of the Ruthless Warlock a couple days ago and I loved it! The story made me feel like I was on the quest with them. I found it difficult to put the book down. This book left me wanting a sequel because I am not ready to say goodbye to these characters.

All the elements that make fantasy both insightful and exciting run through 'On the Trail of the Ruthless Warlock'. Quest fantasy is among my favorites in the genre and the strong women warriors, resourceful wielders of magic and mythical creatures kept me turning pages and staying up (too) late!
I recommend this book for the life lessons within the creative problem solving, the ‘never give up’ attitudes of the cast of interesting characters, and ultimately their dedication to justice and each other.

This is the first time I've read a Fantasy novel. I was curious to know how a writer would describe the fantasy. I wasn't disappointed. There's lots of embellished narration which put me in the center of the action. The choices of descriptive words didn't require a dictionary which made for exciting and flowing reading. I'd recommend this book to anyone who's looking for action and believable characters with personality. I found it to be a real page turner.

A simpler (and shorter!) Lord of the Rings, On the Trail of the Ruthless Warlock, follows a mixed band of travellers seeking to destroy the Warlock before he destroys all that they know. As the story unfolds through the eyes of Creda, a young sorceress, it is hard to put down. The author does a great job of creating characters who you connect with and find yourself willing them on in their quest.
The quest is not without danger and trials, with many twists along the way. I found myself second guessing motives and I enjoyed that I got most of it wrong, especially the unpredictable ending. Creda becomes stronger and stronger throughout the quest, and the development of her unusual magical powers and her relationship with the older, wiser Superior Sister who travels with her was touching.
I found it a real pleasure to read a quality fantasy novel that would be suitable as an introduction to the genre to young teens as well as adults. It has a really good balance of excitement, tension and without resorting to the gore and violence sometimes found in fantasy novels. It is a real page turner and it leaves you wanting a second instalment to discover what next!
