As accurate as the description of this thriller is, what Serial Wives by Yvonne Walus is really about is so much more than its engaging plotline and its unexpected sub-plots. Enter the world of Constable Zero Zimmerman and the well-paid escorts, Cora and Joy, whom she encounters while searching for a heartless serial killer, and you will emerge with a much better understanding and empathy for prostitutes, and for the work of a rookie policewoman determined to solve a baffling series of murders. Cora and Joy are two good women who, unknown to each other or the cops or themselves, become involved with two bad men who run an illicit baby adoption ring. Does either of these men have anything to do with the sudden rash of prostitutes showing up murdered and wearing a fencing mask? Thriller readers will find themselves turning pages rapidly to get to the identity of the serial killer and solve the mystery before Constable Zimmerman and her associates do.

But equally intriguing and engaging are the characters, from cops to killer to prostitutes in this very well-executed story. Walus’s writing style is tight: whether she is narrating the plot, describing the setting or crafting dialogue between characters, everything comes across as plausible and realistic. Readers easily identify with different characters on various levels. The flirtatious exchanges between Zimmerman and policeman Jack are fun, tension-relieving moments. The love between a mother and her child is beautifully captured through Cora and her 5-year-old daughter, Amy. The smarmy, misogynistic attitude of Bradley toward Cora will make female readers bristle. And as for that deranged killer, well, readers will feel only loathing. Yvonne Walus’s subplots and characterization in Serial Wives give her readers lots to think about beyond the thrill of the primary plot. Since it appears that this novel is the first of a new series featuring Zero Zimmerman, it’s a pretty safe bet that Walus will attract a whole new set of fans and deservedly so. She can count me among them. I love her style of writing and look forward to reading more of her novels. Brava!"

This is one of the best books I've read in quite awhile! Great characters, great development of the story. Lots of other stories are great reads but don't always put all the pieces together like this one does, one by one. I also loved how the reader is made aware of every character's full story, something you don't always get in other reads, especially after you think the mystery is solved. Highly recommend!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book, my initial thought was it would be possibly about wives being serial killers, but it is so much more than that. It is the emotions and human experiences that draw you in.

I enjoyed this book and the well written characters. I felt that the book could have had more drama and suspense, but it was a good read.

REVIEW: The storyline is pretty interesting. It starts off at a nice pace but slows down in the middle then again rises itself. The moment where I had thought that there is nothing much to the story, a boom happened and left me amazed. Characters are well developed and all the characters are given well-deserved space and we get an insight into their mind. Reading difficulty is very low. No loopholes are left in the story. There are various sexual descriptions in the book that may not be comfortable for you. Other than that, it was a really good read and I just couldn’t put it down. It is a short book (under 250 pages) and I definitely recommend it to all the mystery lovers out there!

RATINGS: 4/5

This was a great read! The author's writing style made the storyline flow and the well-developed characters made me feel invested in them as I read. I finished this in one sitting, as I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

I requested this book because I was intrigued by the title Serial Wives, I was given a complimentary copy on Netgalley for my honest review.

This book was incredible, the in and out of murder, she has done an amazing job with the details of this story. It starts off fast-paced then it slows down in the middle, and picks up again towards the end. You can tell in this story that she has researched serial killers, instead of doing as you see on tv shows.

If you love a good thriller this is for you, it's about love, loss, and second chances. A nicely written book that will have you turning the pages and wanting more.

Zero Zimmerman, a Probationary Police Officer, is thrown into her first big case when a serial killer starts targeting prostitutes. Set in the seedy underbelly of Auckland NZ, Zero finds she is more connected to the case than she first thought. This Thriller has a cast of unlikeable characters and has quite a dark storyline. I received a digital copy of Serial Wives. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy of Yvonne Eve Walus's book.

I love police procedural books and shows. I found this book highly entertaining and addictive. I'm already looking forward to the next one in the series! I enjoyed Zero and Jackson and feel that they will be fantastic reoccurring characters in a series. If, like me, you enjoy thrillers, crime dramas and true crime shows, you'll love this book!

I would like to thank Yvonne Walus, BooksGoSocial and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I found this to be a really good book, very well written and a storyline that gets you hooked! I have not read any other books by this author, so I was intrigued by the description, and I am glad I was. I would read another book by her. And I do recommend this one!

Strong. Powerful. Engaging. Insightful. These words are not enough to describe this incredible book. Well-written, multiple viewpoints masterfully handled, separate story lines carefully braided together with appropriate clues dropped along the way, leading up to a knockout ending that will leave you reeling. On the surface, it is another story about dead prostitutes. Underneath, it is a tale of love, betrayal, greed, and the eternal struggle between the sexes. More than that, it is the story of what happens between a man and a woman and their children. The mystery pulls you in.

Serial Wives hooked me from the very first page, I spent most of my day on the couch with this book until I finished it. The story is told via multiple POVs between a police officer, two women in the sex trade and “the Business Man”. This story was GOOD, strong/interesting police procedural, great characters who are likable and unlikable at the same time, insane story with twists that blew my mind and great writing. I was kept on my toes the entire book, just as I was starting to guess, something new was thrown in that blew up every theory I had. Highly recommend this book to any crime lovers!

I found this title sitting in my Archived, not downloaded section of netgalley and after reading the description I had to purchase it!
