Another release in the Little People, Big Dreams series, which I have reviewed frequently on here.

This edition is on Swedish environmental activist, Greta Thunberg. When she was just eight years old, Greta realised human activity was responsible for the climate crisis. This book chronicles her attempts to bring awareness to the issue, including her protests outside Swedish Parliament and the 'School Strike for Climate' initiative. Greta has Asperger's Syndrome and many powerful people believe she is too young to be listened to, but this book does a great job in showing how Greta turns her condition into her superpower and uses her voice for good.

It's not my favourite book of the series but in a similar vein to the other editions, this is a wonderful tool for opening a discussion with young children on important issues.

I love the books in this series and I couldn’t wait to read this one on Greta Thunberg!

I love that these books give an insight in to the back stories of some of the most influential people in the world. The Little People, Big Dreams series is one I always look out for. I did wonder at first at the addition of Great as she is still only young and has her life ahead of her to do much more, but having read the book it does show what an influence she has already been and she is a worthy addition as someone who was a little person with big dreams.

I wasn’t aware until reading the book that her great-grand-uncle Svante had been such an influence to science as well as her life and it was his legacy that really influenced her – she has done an awful lot so far from starting out as just a girl with a handmade sign. I really enjoyed it, 5 stars from me, very highly recommended!

What a beautiful tale! And equally as beautiful illustrations!

This book is a brilliant way to educate young people about not only climate change, but how the actions of just one young girl can influence the actions of many! Also it introduces climate change without instilling any fear or reason for young children to truly panic (although it is a reason to panic). This book can truly be enjoyed by many.

As a 26 year old reader I know I was not the intended audience, but still enjoyed every moment of reading this book. Furthermore, I absolutely cannot wait for its release so I can read it to the young children in my life. Particularly those of whom attended the climate change rallies with their parents.

Many thanks to Quarto Publishing Group and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

The Little People, Big Dreams series of books are great for young readers, and Greta Thunberg is no exception. The illustrations and story telling make it easy and fun for young readers to learn about influential people throughout history. Greta Thunberg is a current influential young woman and this book can teach children about her background and the strength of a child. She was resilient and demanded change, even at such a young age, and can be an inspiration to others who hope to enact change.

Greta Thunberg gets spotlighted in this latest edition of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. This series is such a delight and the perfect way to educate not just kids but everyone about historic and cultural icons. Greta Thunberg is a more recent icon to be featured in the series than previous subjects featured in this series, but is a perfect role model for young kids. Greta is a Swedish environmental activist who led the biggest environmental protest ever. Oh, and she was only 16! Anke Weckmann illustrates this installment and does an amazing job. I absolutely adored Weckmann's art style and appreciated how it further helped tell Thunberg's story. I love collecting these books and am so thrilled to add this one to the rest of my collection.

Greta Thunberg by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is another charming addition to the Little People BIG DREAMS series of which I have become such a fan. This time around, the subject is Greta Thunberg, the seventeen year old Swedish climate activist of whom we have all become aware over the past few years. Greta's mission for climate change began to take hold when she was only a young child herself, and I believe that her current visibility will certainly make this book particularly relatable and relevant for children of all ages. Greta's Asperger's is also acknowledged, and the activist herself refers to the condition as her superpower, a validating statement that many children will take on board. Bravo once again to this beautiful and informative series.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Another brilliant addition to the Little People series. I was so so happy to see Greta had made the series. A wonderful and inspiring little book. I hope it encourages people to be kinder to the environment and to go and learn more about Greta and her noble work. Thank you for letting me read an advanced copy.

This series is always a joy to read, it’s a really nice introduction to well known people for little children. Of course the plot is always a little bit fast but that’s to be expected and it’s totally understandable.
This one here is about Greta Thunberg, a young girl who has already done so much to fight against climate change. She's accomplished a lot for her age and I'm sure that she will not stop asking for a better future for the next generations. She's definitely a great example for children and this book is also the perfect opportunity to make children aware of climate change and its risks.

By far the youngest and most recently active person to be in this series, Greta Thunberg gets the non-fiction, biographical treatment. And I suppose it's a welcome volume – it doesn't really mention the fact she's changed oh so little as regards policy, but the small acts it shows her thinking of doing and then doing will all have helped the environment a little. And, of course, there is always a possibility that this book will still be on the shelves when she does get to change things, and therefore make it out of date. I think the text is a little bit hectoring to begin with – it's more about the environment than the girl, but then they are so intertwined, that might be excusable. No, the artwork isn't great, but that's par for the course with this series. However, as far as this whole franchise is designed to give inspiring example, there is little more inspiring than a living person, someone that's a near-contemporary to the target reader. So as long as they don't take this as an excuse to doss off school every Friday, then it'll have been a success.

This installment of the little people, big dreams series tells us about Greta Thunberg.
Of course, I know who she is and what she does, and admire her for it, but I didn't know that she has selective mutism and was diagnosed with Aspergers. As someone who to has selective mutism, I really enjoyed that it's mentioned - and then that it comes without the drama. It's just what it is.

I have to say that I didn't like the illustrations of this one as much as I liked the ones in the past. Particularly the eyes are kind of creepy.

Apart from that, I like that this series includes people who are not only alive today, but whose stories only recently started, compared to other people who have been featured here. Let's see how this story continues and hope for a happy ending.

Finally, the Little People Big Dreams Series Covers Greta!

I was happy to see that Greta Thunberg is now featured in the Little People Big Dreams Series, as her story is current and climate change is a very relevant topic to read about, even (or especially) for kids. The book is nicely illustrated with well-thought out, colorful pictures. Greta’s story is told in an easily understandable manner with the pictures making it easier to fully immerse oneself in the story. I was a bit taken aback that her sister is not mentioned once through the whole book, as there many pages contain drawings of Greta and her parents, but never with her sister. Overall an encouraging, nicely illustrated book with a focus on climate change, thought to encourage kids to dream big.

Amazing introduction to Greta's story for readers of all ages, particularly for parents who want to introduce her to their children. The illustrations are beautiful and the style really suited the setting of Sweden.

Another great addition to this series! The illustrations were so lovely in this one - each person really looked unique and there were some striking images - one where Greta's hair is full of images and another where she looks like a superhero flying.

Greta's story is inspiring and it's strange to think we're living at the same time as her. She has already become a true icon.

This small book is simply telling the story of Greta Thunberg and her decision to act on the warnings of science. Growing up in Sweden to environmentally conscious parents, Greta took their lessons further and then went on strike from school outside Parliament. She addressed the UN at 16.

Each page is illustrated in colour and gives young readers an impression that if their conviction and need are strong enough, they too can make changes to how the world at large sees matters.

At the end a page repeats the story in text. We are also shown a series of these books covering people like Mahatma Gandhi, Jesse Owens and Rosa Parks, Jane Goodall and Agatha Christie.

This could be read by any age of child able to read, and would be a great class discussion point.

This book about Greta Thunberg is so sweet. I loved the illustrations in addition to the fact that it shows what teenagers can do in regards of the environment. It also shows that with or without Aspergers, one can accomplish something.

Greta Thunberg by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is my favourite book so far in the Little People, Big Dreams series. Greta is such an inspirational girl. She has dedicated her young life to fighting against climate change and global warming and is fast becoming a household name. She has Asperger's Syndrome but doesn't let that stop her from trying to educate the world on important topics that she feels passionate about. She is also a Vegan which I think is very cool! This book contains beautiful illustrations. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy.

Greta Thunberg was my introduction to the Little People Big Dreams series and now I'm hooked! What an amazing collection of books for children of all ages. Inspiring stories about people who bring, or have brought, positive change to the world.

Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara tells Greta's story in a way that is sure to entertain, educate and inspire anyone who reads it. I'm very aware of Greta Thunberg's impact on climate change, but even I learned several fascinating facts in this edition.

What makes this book truly exceptional, are the illustrations by Anke Weckmann. They are colorful, beautifully executed, and propel the story forward. In fact, I can't remember the last time I read an illustrated children's book where the words and images worked together so perfectly.

I also really like the more 'formal' biography/timeline at the end of the book that also featured photographs of Thunberg.

I reviewed this book from a digital ARC, and have to say that I would most definitely want a hardcover edition. Beautifully done!

I feel as though I have definitely read better books about young Greta Thunberg in the past, however, with that said I am still an immense fan of the Little People, Big Dreams series. And so, Greta Thunberg by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and illustrated by Anke Weckmann is an amazing children's book for children to be exposed to. With so many books about this brilliant young woman being published, it's hard not to compare; but frankly, I think they're all wonderful.

Where my comparisons leave me loving other books just a little bit more is mainly in the artwork. I wasn't massively fond of it this time. It is bright and colorful though, perfect for keeping the attention of young readers. Ultimately, for me, the story is the most important part of this entire book and of any Greta Thunberg book. And Greta's story is truly inspiring, of a young girl who grew up caring deeply about the damage we are doing to our planet and decided she would take a stand to try and stop it.

Greta is an important name in the world today and one that I don't think anyone will ever be forgetting. I am truly grateful to her and I hope that her story will embolden other young children to stand up, speak out, and make a change they care about. This is a great book for all children. I hope they find it inspiring.

The My First Little People, Big Dreams series provides informative and inspirational biographies about people who left a mark on this earth, no matter what difficulties they have encountered.
These stories are very short, but thats because theyre books for children, so its totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
This little one here is about Greta Thunberg, a very young environmental activist who, even if she's only 17 years old, had already done a lot to try to save our planet. For sure, she's a great example for children, but even for adults. Not matter how old you are or what challenges you decide to fight, if you keep trying to do your best then you have already won, and maybe, you can even change the world!

Little People, Big Dreams is a series of short books for children about extraordinary people who change the way we’re looking at the world now. It’s an enjoyable piece of non-fiction kids’ literature to savor along with your tiny humans. I love biographies of people who dared to be different, and these short books are one of my favorites.
Each book in the series is illustrated by different artists with their unique style that even non-art-savvy like me can appreciate. 'Greta Thunberg' is decorated by Anke Weckmann and her pictures put a smile on my face reminding me of 'Pippi Longstocking' book I read as a child.

The read is appropriate for 1–2G readers or read-along with parents for younger ones. It's informative and compelling for both adults and children.

Another great edition to the little people, big dreams series. This one is about Greta Thunberg and her work to raise awareness of climate change and fight for change.
This book is inspirational for all children and encouraging to stand by your beliefs.
This series is so amazing for children to learn about people who have made a change in the world.

Of all the people featured in the "Little People, Big Dreams" series, Greta Thunberg is, I suspect, the one that has the most immediacy and recognition amongst its intended audience.
Any child reading this will obtain a good appreciation of how Greta became such an inspirational figure to so many, particularly the young.

In just a few pages, a surprising amount of biographical detail can be found and mention is made of the importance of Asperger's Syndrome to her story.

Of course, the issue of her skipping school, which has been followed by some of her adherents, needs to be handled with some parental care.

What makes these books so appealing are the colourful and quirky illustrations, which give a real sense of her Swedish environment.

With a timeline at the end, it may inspire some readers to seek further information on the whole issue of the threat of climate change.

An inspirational girl! It’s great that she has become part of this series. I love the illustrations.

The title of this series is most apt when it comes to Greta who is truly a little person with a big dream; it is one that she fights for. The incomparable Ms. Vegara Sanchez does a wonderful job of telling the story of this young eco activist. Children will be inspired and, hopefully, will see that they can make a difference.

Young readers will learn that Greta had a relative long before her birth who worried about the environment When this concern took hold in Greta, she could not let it go. Readers find out that Greta had elective mutism and Aspergers. Rather than seeing these as bad things, the author points out that these are the very things that have helped Greta to remain true to her resolve to do something about climate change.

The simple text is accompanied with brightly colored and appealing illustrations. Together author and illustrator work together seamlessly in this excellent addition to the excellent series.

This is one of the most inspirational books that children could ever read. It focuses on a very real issue that we're continuing to face. By reaching children, Greta can encourage them to follow in her footsteps and help take control of their futures.

When Greta was young, her parents taught her important life lessons like saving energy and water, and not wasting food. She was very conscious of how humans treated the Earth and worried about what would happen to the planet if they continued. She embarked on a mission to slow down global warming, using her Asberger's syndrome to her advantage. This kept her focused on her task. She began striking from school and protesting outside parliament. Soon, other students around the world began to join her and the environmental protest soared. She took the stand and addressed world leaders, urging them to use their powers to make a difference. She started a very crucial movement that shows no signs of slowing down.

I think this book is so relevant and so empowering to children. We are responsible for our planet, and the sooner children learn that, the more influence they can have. Greta is an incredible role model, especially considering her young age. She has proven that if you stand up for what you believe in, you can make a difference.

Great book to introduce children to activism and standing up for what they believe, even when they are young. I would be hesitant for some children reading about how she skipped school. But I guess that's the facts so what can you do? I think it is a great book to learn about changing things if you don't think they are right and that children can make a difference as well.

I love this series! This is a perfect introduction to biographies and I love that this is a current person that children have probably seen in the media. It is an interesting and respectful book that presents a critical topic that more children should be aware of. I highly recommend this book for everyone!

What a wonderful story about Greta Thunberg, the young activist who has brought the truth of global warming not only to the world’s attention but to the children of the world. The book clearly invites the young reader to join Greta in saving the planet for their and future generations. Highly relatable, this little book should inspire readers. Simple, explore-worthy illustrations. An illustration of her solar boat would have helped young readers appreciate even more her bravery.

This is a story about a Swedish girl,Greta who is an environmental activist. It was her grandfather who made it a discovery about a century ago that global warming is the biggest threat to the world and humans are the cause of it.

Greta's character shows us selfless nature, kind nature and civic sense we should all have.

Till when we can deny the threat to our Mother Earth ??Just ask this question from yourselves.

Learn about sustainable development.Tell others about it .

It should be noted that we alone can't do everything ,we need political support.

Politicans should stop making excuses and should start acting .

Civil society, global community and citizens need to act together.

Our family has never read any of the Big Dream series. This was a great length of book for my kids (3rd grade and Kindergarten) with a great amount of information. We read this at bedtime last night. Right away this morning the kids asked to learn more about Greta. The book was a great introduction that spurred more conversation and interest.

Another great book from the Little People Big Dreams series. Kids need to learn as early as possible that if they decide to stand up for something, they CAN make a difference, no matter their age. I especially love how they said that her selective mutism and Asperger's worked as her "super power."

This is a wonderful book that will teach young readers that just because they are a small person does not mean that they cannot have a big voice. Main points that stand out are environmental conservation, inclusiveness, and acting passionately on your interests. Although Greta’s story is new, and since she is young she does not have as much history in the sense of lifetime, she has made a huge impact in a short amount of time, and that can inspire young readers. This would also be a great pick for Earth Day studies.

Who doesn't love Greta Thunberg?
I am so inspired by her and how dedicated she is to save our planet.
I have read about her before, and this book is a great great summary to know who Greta is, her background and what she has done in these past years. It is a great book to be introduced to any kids out there. It would be fun to read since it is beautifully illustrated.
So, if you need a stocking filler this Christmas or someone's kids birthday or just a little random gift to your friend's kids, consider this book as your option :)

This book is so important. Greta is a great role model for millions of people, especially children. She is making great efforts to stop the Earth from degrading, and it's high time we all learn to do the same. She is making such a difference at such a young age. Young people are getting inspired by her. This book will help tell the children what she did and inspire them to do the same to save this earth.

Greta Thunberg, born in Sweden, learned at a young age that it is important to protect the environment. She was diagnosed with selective mutism and Aspergers Syndrome. She only spoke about things that were very important to her. The environment fit that description. This gave her the platform to speak out against global warming. She peacefully protested outside the Swedish Parliament and inspired other children to form peaceful protests for the environment.

This book describes Greta Thunberg’s life in detail, but in easily understood language for children. The illustrations are well done.

As an educator, I would recommend this book to children to see that they can do big things. Everyone can make a difference.

Goodreads Review-Thank you, Net Galley, for a copy of this book.

Little People, Big Dreams, is my new favorite series. The illustrations are captivating, the text is clear and compelling, and the notes at the end show real pictures and flesh out the individual a bit more. Greta Thunberg is amazing. Her commitment to championing our planet and declaring her superpower of Asperger as what enables her to unwaveringly focus on saving our planet inspires me tremendously. This is a phenomenal book, a fantastic series, and a hero for all generations.

This was another I throughly enjoyed. It was fun to read about someone who is still alive and still able to make changes in the world.
I personally find what I know about Greta to be very inspirational and the fact that she's a young individual makes it all the more impactful, when fully grown adults aren't or won't grasp the importance of our planet, it's stability and it's ability or struggle to flourish.

I love that this book is about a modern-day hero, as many similar books only talk about people from long ago. When my child realized that Greta Thunberg was someone who was living now, and was still a child (well, a teenager), his mind was blown. It really brought home the fact that someone like him could make a difference in the world. He has been inspired to make changes and has asked us to do more for the earth as a family. I love that he was inspired by her!

I can't say it enough, I love the Little People, Big Dreams series. This is one of my favourites in this series for a couple of reasons. I love that this is timely and is taking place now. Also that this young girl has autism, showing that anyone can do great things. There is a brief description of Greta's family and home-life, but most of the book deals with her reaction to climate change and what she does about it. I am angered at the way she has been treated and demeaned by a certain head of a country, but that is not in this book. It is a very simple telling of what she is doing and how other children have joined in to try and help our world now and for the future. I love the quirky, yet attractive illustrations in this book, they make it fun to look at, while sharing an important message, ordinary children, doing extraordinary things. These short, non-fiction books include a short story of how these amazing people began life and pursued their dreams. There is a short biography, photographs and timeline at the end of the book to add to what the reader learns in the story. As always, I recommend this series to libraries, both public and school.

This book is simply beautiful for both adults and children. The illustrations are some of the most vibrant in the Little People Big Dreams series. The themes of climate change and disability were unique themes which I have yet to encounter in any of the other books in the series and my 5 year old absolutely loved these. This book was probably his favourite so far and I would recommend it to all ages!

Biographies are an important genre for children. As a teacher, I see children motivated by reading about people they admire. I cannot think of a better biography to motivate a child, than a biography about a child who sparked change.

This book is crafted to bring the reader along with Greta, to understand where she first found her passion for the environment, and to empathize with her as she cannot "let it go" and move on like the other children. The sentences that carry the reader through the many impressive choices and action of Greta are clear, direct, and packed with details. This biography would be a great book for any educator looking for a text to model questioning as a reading strategy! The text will inspire kids to read more about Greta, and provides the resources for where to go next to be able to learn more after reading the backmatter.

If there is one thing I wish this book had, it is more back matter. I wish the book gave more information for how children could participate in Greta's cause. What can they do to continue to move the fight for a brighter, greener future? However, any reader wondering that question is likely to find more resources and look for ways on their own. How could they not after seeing that with persistence and follow through, kids like Greta can and do make a difference.

I really enjoy this series, showing different famous people to children in the form of picture books! I also really love the art-style in this book, and it seems like it was really inspired by Scandinavian children's books. This is really informative and well made!

've adored Greta Thunberg (the 'h' is silent) ever since I first heard about her, and this book tells a fine and inspiring story of the difference a lone young girl can make if she has a cause and some determination.

At the age of fifteen - just two short years ago - and after learning about the sad state of the environment, Greta began a lone vigil outside the Swedish parliament with a sign, 'Skolstrejk för klimatet' (School strike for climate), and her vigil caught on, becoming a major movement.

She reached a point of notoriety where she was able to cross the Atlantic on wind and solar-powered boats (she refuses to fly because of climate impact) and speak to world leaders about how climate change was going to impact hers and future generations.

This book is a great introduction to what one person can do and to what might happen if we all don't do something. I commend it as a worthy read.

This was only 36 pages, but they were 36 great pages. I'm so glad that Greta is finally telling her story, as a girl in a world that works against her in so many ways. This is a really great way to introduce your kids to her and the importance of the fight against global warming, and the drawings are so cute and colourful, they work perfectly alongside the text!

The best way to teach kids is to keep them engaged. This short book tells not only Greta's story but the importance of climate change and thoughtful living, with simple yet fun illustrations accompanying it. A fantastic way to learn a little and have a great time while doing so.

I loved this, great to see these branching out into future legends, although Greta is a current legend too, I’m sure she will have far more ahead of her. Another wonderful contribution to these simply beautiful books, should be required purchases for all schools

I love the Little People, Big Dreams series and this gem is no different. It describes the life of Greta Thunberg in an easily accessible way for Foundation Stage and KS1 children to engage with.

As with the rest of the books in the series, it is a simplified biography of Greta starting with her childhood and celebrating her most notable achievements. The book is engaging with beautiful and colourful illustrations. Another great addition to the series.

I really love this series that Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara has going. These non-fiction, children's picture book introductions to famous figures are fabulous!

This time around we learn about Greta Thunberg. This young Swedish girl is a great environmental activist with a sweet story. She's a normal girl who is changing the world! With selective mutism and Asperger's, Greta had a magical super power for being able to focus on and stand up for what she believed in.

This is a great introduction to Greta and is a wonderful source of empowerment! Other young readers can be just like her and change the world.

The biggest issue I have with these books is that I personally don't like the art style. It doesn't sit well with my eyes and it doesn't look very pleasing. It doesn't affect my reading pleasure, but that is my negative!

Four out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

This is one of my favorite picture book biography series. I have been waiting a long time to read Greta Thunberg. I can't wait to share her story with my students. Over the years, I have introduced my students to all kinds of historical figures and others who have contributed to our world.

MUMMY AND MINI READS...

Greta Thunberg.

Teenager, environmental activist, leader and now the cover star of the latest Little People, Big Dreams series by @quartokids

Quarto publishing have done it again with a fantastic new addition to their inspirational series for young people. What is so brilliant about Greta is that she is a modern day hero that all young people can relate to. The book tells the story of how Greta went from small thinker to powerful influencer from sheer determination and belief in her cause. There is a lesson for all young people here to stand up for what you believe and change can happen.

LIKED: the beautiful illustrations by Anke Weckmann are really engaging and provide excellent talking points with your young readers. I also like the timeline at the end to clearly depict how Greta is of our time which I think could really inspire readers to join in her cause.

DISLIKED: nothing! I love it!

MUMMY RATES: 🧃🧃🧃🧃🧃. A great read for primary age children to understand all about Greta and climate change.

Thank you to @netgalley and @quartokids for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I think I could also use it at KS3 as a conversation starter around inspirational people and our responsibility for the planet. Loads of activities that could be done in the classroom using this as a springboard.

I give this an extra 👩‍🎓👩‍🎓👩‍🎓👩‍🎓👩‍🎓 for use in education.

This is another gorgeous book in the Little People, Big Dreams series. My class have shown a real interest in Greta and everything she has done to fight against climate change. This is definitely a book that I could see children enjoying and learning from. It's a lovely book and definitely worth the read!

Accessible biography for younger readers that shows we can make a difference. It also shows that what some people would consider a disability can truly be an asset. Greta’s Aspergers Syndrome helped her speak out about her cause.

In my opinion, both adults and children should read the little book about "Greta Thunberg." This is a powerful book to awaken our consciousness in caring and loving our planet. The simple text should be easy enough for children to understand the dire situation they are facing. For the love of our future generations, adults should read "Greta Thunberg" reminding themselves the importance of setting the examples to show the younger generations that we care. Little thing that we do could make positive impacts. I highly recommend this book to everyone and adore the illustrations. A definite good read!

My thanks to Quarto Publishing Group - Francis Lincoln Children’s Books for a temporary digital edition via NetGalley of ‘Greta Thunberg’, written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and illustrated by Anke Weckmann, in exchange for an honest review.

This little book is intended for children aged 4-7 and is part of its publishers acclaimed ‘Little People, BIG DREAMS’ series that introduces young readers to the lives and works of significant people including scientists, writers, political figures and the like via books and educational games.

While many of those honoured by this series are mature or no longer with us, Greta Thunberg is still a teenager, yet one who has already made a huge impact on our world, even winning the TIME Person of the Year award in 2019.

I knew very little about Greta’s background before this including that she is distantly related to Svante Arrhenius, the Nobel-winning scientist who over a hundred years ago predicted that carbon emissions would lead to global warming or that her parents raised her to be aware of nature and the environment.

Her initial Friday school strike, sitting outside the Swedish Parliament with a homemade sign, grew and grew to become a global phenomenon.

I loved Anke Weckmann’s colourful artwork with its positive motifs. The book concludes with a timeline of Greta’s life to date and some suggestions for further reading.

A very inspiring book for young readers given that Greta is not that much older than they are. It likely will also be helpful for children who are on the spectrum to see that Greta considers her Asperger’s syndrome as her superpower.

Again, a book and series that I am always happy to recommend to parents, educators, and librarians.

I absolutely adore this range of books and the amazing people they teach my children about.

I think this book is especially important as it shows that Asperger's in a positive light and shows children that they can make a difference no matter how young they are!

Requested this book to see what these stories are like, and to read about Greta. I know who she is and as an adult thought I knew her story, but reading this I didnt know about her upbringing!
Cannot wait for my daughters to learn about people of history through these books when they are older.

What a wonderful little book!
This series for younger readers about important people is always beautifully written and illustrated and this is no different.
It is a very visually appealing book, so would definitely grab the attention of those too young to read it themselves, and the story is more than interesting enough (while short and sharp) for those who are a bit older.
The actual images of Greta Thunberg at the end add the realism that is needed to show the readers that this book is based on reality which makes the story even more impressive.
Cant wait to read more of this series.

We know our customers love the Little People Big Dreams series and are sure that this edition will be a hit.
As always with this fantastic series, there is the perfect level of information to keep all aged readers engaged. It works as a brilliant introduction to Greta for younger readers but will also enlighten older readers with further information about her family history and the background to her action for climate change.
The illustrations are beautifully inclusive and quirky and the style fits the subject perfectly.
Another hit from this well loved series.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. Greta Thunberg by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and illustrated by Anke Weckmann is another installment in Frances Lincoln Children's series about famous historical and contemporary figures. I love this series and have read most of the backlist of titles (such as Jane Goodall, Alan Turing, Dolly Parton, and Wilma Rudolph). I enjoy how each book's illustrations are different and catered to the historical era, culture, and personality of each historical figure. The illustrations in Greta Thunberg done by Anke Weckmann are bold and reminiscent of both Marimekko and Ingrid Vang Nyman (the Swedish illustrator of the Pippi Longstocking books). They reflect Thunberg's direct, yet optimistic personality. The book is a great profile of the Swedish climate activist behind the Fridays for Future movement, as well as much needed representation of a girl on the autism spectrum. The book explained Thunberg's diagnosis clearly and simply, and highlighted that it was Thunberg's superpower. I would recommend this book for both schools and library systems, as well as for kids and their parents.

My daughter and I absolutely love the Little People Big Dreams series of books. Teaching our young children about well known people who have had major impact on our world.

This book centres around Greta Thunberg, a young girl with a mission to fight against climate change. At only 16 years old, Greta has already accomplished so much in her never ending battle for a better future for generations to come.
This book is a great introduction for our young children to learn about climate change and how the choices we make today impact our planets future.
Young Greta is a wonderful role model, she is definitely a great example for our own young people.

An 'of the moment' biography for children about one of the most significant child activists of the 21st century to date. This book series are highly collectable and Greta certainly has earned her place. This is an accessible story about her life to date and about her battles that our younger readers will be able to grasp.

The illustrations in this book are charming. They have a little bit of an old-timey feel that pulls you in and makes you feel at home with Greta and her family. The book is full of interesting facts about Greta's life, many of which were new to me. It helps the reader really understand how Greta came to be an activist. It is also empowering to kids with selective mutism, autism spectrum disorder, and other ways of thinking and doing which are not always considered the norm. #GretaThunberg #NetGalley

This is the first book I have read in this particular children's stories. It was a very quick read and would be great to give younger children a look into the different figures in this collection. This was a very simple and clear book and features a lot about her school strikes. Though I am not a massive fan of the illustrations that are in this book it was certainly nice enough, with plenty of little details in the scenes. There was some changing up of the illustrations to add pace, sometimes the characters were in frames, sometimes there would be close ups. I was delighted that at the end there was photos with a timeline and a good chunk of text to just go slightly more in depth into these people. All round a pleasant read for young children.

I love this series and I appreciated the highlights from Thunberg's life the author chose to portray, adults who want to know more should read [book:Our House Is on Fire: Scenes of a Family and a Planet in Crisis|50360321]. However, I am curious about whether or not this book will have to be revisited as its subject is only seventeen years old when it was published.

Ps. The illustrations on this one were gorgeous!

My daughter and I love the “Little People, Big Dreams” series, and this one was every bit as informative and inspiring as others that we have read. It was an interesting spin to read about someone whose achievements were realised at such a young age, and whose story is not yet complete. I know that my daughter appreciated this aspect, and was keen to learn more about this young lady. This led to some great conversations, and I know that the message of this book will stay with her (and me) as we continue to revisit it.

My thanks to the author, NetGalley, and Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for the arc to review.

I love this series of books and could easily use them in the classroom when teaching kids how to write biographies - they would be great for English. I would use a range of these books to include a diverse range of people. This one could be used in many areas - young people achieving great things, climate change, social change, IWD etc. Greta Thunberg being only sixteen years old would be a great person for students to look at and research, being much closer to their own age, they could find her inspiring.

Great illustrations and captivating for young learners.

This is another addition to a really nice biographical series for children. The illustrations are bright and eye catching and the information is well presented. It picked out the key points regarding Greta's life and campaign as well as adding a useful timeline at the end. I really liked the positive message regarding her Asperger Syndrome, her superpower, and for a reasonably condensed book, i felt you did get a feel for her.

The Little People, Big Dreams series of books are great for kids to learn more about people who are making an impact on our world. One of the latest entries to this series is about Greta Thunberg. This picture book tells about Greta's childhood and how a watching a movie at school about the polar ice caps melting sparked an interest in climate change. We learn how Greta created signs and sat outside parliament and started to initiate awareness and change.

The illustrations are colorful and interesting for kids to look at. The story itself is straightforward and easy to follow. I would say that it is appropriate for kids in kindergarten and up. This would be a great addition to any child's book collection!

Greta Thunberg had become a celebrity in her own right over recent years and a lifelong spokesperson for climate change and acceptance. Young people and rhose who are older, look up to her. This beautifully illustrated book captures the essence of who she is, from touching on her family life and personal issues and thoughts to school life and beyond, Greta Thunberg by María Isabel Sánchez Vergara is quick, heartfelt and informative in a way in which youngsters will understand, but I as an adult found the book a different take on Greta's life and engrossing all the same.

Thanks to María Isabel Sánchez Vergara and publisher for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

5 stars.

This Little People, Big Dreams book tells the story of climate activist Greta Thunberg and how she became who she is today. The illustrations are wonderful, and all who read this and become introduced to Greta will be in awe.

This is such a remarkable series. I already purchased some of the volumes for my library.
And I am sure going to buy more.
With this books you got that chance to get to communicate even with small children about some real and special people.

And in times likes these it is so important to teach our kids that there have been people, with ideas and dreams who worked hard and get the job done, no matter what.

I really, really love those books and I love working with them and bring some kids to dream of what they can accomplish if the only try.

So thank you for letting me read those.

When Greta Thunberg began learning about the devastating effects of climate change and global warming have on the Earth, her world changed and she began to change the world! #earthday

Greta and her family stopped eating meat and they stopped traveling by airplane! But Greta knew it would take more than her family to make change. So she began protesting in front of the Swedish Parliament to inform politicians of the urgency of addressing global warming. Other students began to join her. Soon students from all around the world began holding similar protest as well! This resulted in the first world strike against global warming, the biggest environmental protest ever!

Greta Thunberg shows us that small changes can have a huge impact! And collectively we can address climate change and global warming! We are seeing the impact in real time as the levels of air pollution have dramatically declined! Air quality has improved, and skies that were once smog filled and hazy have cleared! This is the result of reduced travel by vehicles and airplanes in just the past couple of months!

Another wonderful offering in the Little People Big Dreams Series, this time about a figure from the present, who I'm sure will become a figure studied in history classes in the future.

Telling the story of Greta Thunberg's early life and some of the influences that led her to begin her school strike and to travel the world, this short biography offers an insight into the girl many will have heard about.

As always, the short biography is accompanied by clear pictures which complement the words on the page. The book adds with information about possible further reading and I like that the list includes a fiction book based on her story in 'Greta and the Giants'.

I will definitely consider adding this to our selection in school. It would be a great addition to our Year 6 topic on 'Crimes Against Nature' which explores some of the human impact on the environment.

I received an eARC of this book from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

4.5★
“Greta was a little Swedish girl who learned from her parents to turn off the lights, not to waste water, and never throw out food: three simple lessons for being kind to nature that most grown-ups haven’t quite learned yet.”

More’s the pity. That we haven’t learned even those simple lessons, I mean. Her family was already ahead of most people I know before she took up campaigning all by herself. I imagine most readers would be at least dimly aware of Greta Thunberg, whether they admire her message and manner or not.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: Greta was moved by a movie she saw at her school.

Greta couldn’t forget the climate change message from the movie she saw, and was so affected that she stopped speaking and decided she had to do something about it.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: Greta begins her solo campaign to demand action on climate change.

Once she got ready to start, she parked herself outside the Swedish Parliament all alone.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: Greta with her famous sign: School strike for Climate

Moving right along, she was invited to speak in many places and addressed the United Nations.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration captioned: Greta asks world leaders to act before it’s too late.

She makes a point of travelling by boats powered with wind and solar and has created so much interest and been so inspiring, that TIME Magazine named her their Person of the Year in December 2019. That accolade didn’t make it into this book, but I’m adding it anyway.

The last pages of the book include photos and a more adult summary of her activities and history as well as the many covers of other books in this series.

I hope all schools are collecting the series as they are published. Even well-read adults will learn something. Note that the kids in her school are a very diverse bunch, just as the kids are around the world and the adults she addresses in speeches. This is a world-wide issue affecting every single person.

My Goodreads review includes a photograph captioned: Greta Thunberg, TIME Magazine cover, Person of the Year

Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Knows for the preview copy from which I’ve shared a few illustrations

It was great to see this latest addition to my favourite series of non-fiction books for children focus on Greta Thunberg. Her words ' No one is too small too make a difference' are inspiring countless children and young people to change their lifestyle and habits and do everything possible to stop the global warming and irresponsible use of the Earth's resources.
I like the way every book in this series has its artwork stylised in a unique and special way. Maria Isabel Sanchez Vega's story is conscise and informative and lets young readers discover how Greta began her protest and how she herself views her Asperger's syndrom her superpower as it allows her to focus on things she deeply cares about.
I would definitely recommend this book for a school or home library.
