I loved this book, had me gripped from the beginning. I read it in 3 days because I was so keen to find out what happened next at all the different stages. It had me on the edge of my seat so much I had to take a break a couple of times due to the intensity within the gripping storyline. I felt the characters were believable with good depth. Cody (the main character) showed a loving and caring relationship with his daughter and voiced all the normal parental worries. I also enjoyed the glimpses of humour e.g. toward the end when Rachel tells her dad not to call her kid! I loved the vignettes which were built in as the book progressed where the tiny details that help you know the characters were fed in. In some ways it reminded me of Stephen King's The Stand (this is meant as a compliment just in case you are not sure!) I'm not sure why it is described as a trilogy, while it is split into 3 sections the story is continuous and I wouldn't want to buy the first book in the trilogy without the other two.
I'd certainly recommend it to anyone who likes an apocalyptic, thriller, fantasy/Sci-fi genre and a gripping read that keeps you wanting more all the way to the end!

‘The Exterminators’ is an action packed trilogy in which a father and his young daughter first try to outrun the Black Storm and the Black Widow, and later on try to fight the enemy causing these phenomena. Due to the small amount of pages in each book, I’d rather call this one book in three parts, rather than a trilogy. It’s fun to read, thrilling too, but the amount of gun fights is over the top. I would have liked a little less shooting and a little more ‘something else’.

The story has some originality, but in essence it’s mostly a mixture of other stories and ideas, with a personal touch. There is not that much in these books that hasn’t been written before in some way (pandemic, society collapsing, people acting with rage like zombies, road trip, etc.) It’s interesting though to witness society fall apart if something goes wrong, and to see how the best in one person is braught up, and the worst in somebody else. These contradictions are very extreme in this book. There are not many characters who keep behaving in a moderate way, somewhere in between good and bad.

I liked the local accents of the characters in this book a lot. It’s not about the accent in itself, but about how the author has put it on paper. It appeared very realistic to me, and because of that also funny. I could really see these people move and talk in front of me. I usually prefer more in-depth books though. This book is comparable to an action movie full of bullets and explosions, and I can enjoy this every once in a while, but not too often. All in all it was not a bad read.

Suddenly, there is no blue sky only a black sky People are turning crazy and killing themselves or others. People are desperate to find someplace safe. Rachel and her dad are trying to get to the San Antonio Airport. There is a creature called the Black Widow that chases people and give them the Black Fever which causes them to kill themselves. Will they make it to the airport in time? After a very weird event at the airport, Rachel and her dad decide to go to downtown San Antonio as they saw a light thinking they may find help there if not safety. They go with her dad’s friends. They discover the Black Storm’s latest killers known as Sliders designed to kill the last of the human race. Will the Sliders succeed? Rachel has special powers that have become even stronger. She isn’t sure what her powers can do. Is Rachel to become the hope for humanity to survive? The Black Storm is coming to earth to live. What is it? Why does it want to destroy humanity? Rachel learns that they (Black Storm) are exterminators from another world. They want to know about Rachel’s special powers as they have been defeated by her. Rachel will have to fight a war to end this. Can she? Will there ever be blue skies again?

The compelling and intriguing story kept me “glued” to is pages. It has so many twists and turns that were unexpected. The author wrote an excellent science fiction, mystery and horror novels. I could see the characters and scenes as if I were standing on the side due to the author’s excellent writing. It flows.

This is a pretty good apocalyptic trilogy. The writing is good overall as are the character portrayals. There are many helpful reviews out if you want more info there already since the books have out a couple of years already.

I really appreciate the review copy!!

I want to thank the Netgalley website for allowing me to read this trilogy. I love the cover of this trilogy which is beautiful where it shows Rachel holding her father Cody's hand.

The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where humans are targeted for extermination.

We find Cody who wants to do everything to save his daughter Rachel from this world full of horrors. Except that it is she who will end up protecting him and everyone else. They will have to escape the hell on earth.

A trilogy read in an afternoon so I immediately hooked on the story so moving in some passages, gripping, captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists with very endearing characters. I love the author's writing.
