Once inseparable, years of resentment and jealousy have driven Alice and Holly apart. But, though they barely speak these days, Alice knows her sister is hiding something.

When she hears that a discovery at a soon-to-be-demolished apartment building has led police to re-open an 'accidental death' case, Alice thinks nothing of it. Forced to dig through the past in order to uncover the truth, Alice starts to uncover years of Holly's secrets - and to doubt her innocence. As the evidence mounts up, Alice has a choice to make: does she want to help her sister clear her name, even if the price is her own future with Damien?

Forced to dig through the past in order to uncover the truth, Alice also starts to uncover years of Holly's secrets - and to doubt her innocence. And as the evidence mounts up, she has a choice to make: does she want to help her sister clear her name, even if Alice will end up paying the price?
Dialogues were awesome and it's ending was truly psychological suspense.

Alice has always taken care of her younger sister, Holly. Now Alice can feel her sister pulling away from her. Of course Holly has her husband Luke to turn to. However, Holly and Alice used to be inseparable. Alice is busy too she has he little daughter to take care of. So she passes it off as each having a busy life.
Years later, Alice will look back and see the small things that could've indicated that things were happening with Luke and Holly that weren't as they wanted everyone to believe. A thriller that will keep you guessing.

Holly and Alice should be closer than most sisters, having gone through a family bereavement together. However, though they barely speak, Alice knows her little sister is hiding something – but even she, wise to Holly’s antics – couldn’t predict the train of events after a soon-to-be demolished apartment block leads to the police reopening a case. Holly is a lot of things but Alice has no reason to doubt her. Except, Holly can’t be reached, Alice’s ex husband is more on hand than usual and who is the man who’s taken a shine to her? As the sisters have their own troubles, they’ve no idea that the past, for them both, will come hurtling into their present.

I really enjoyed this book - it was a page turner, for sure. Alice and Holly are two sisters who were close while growing up, but they've drifted apart. When Holly marries the love of her life, Luke, she asks Alice for her share of their mother's inheritance, and Alice reluctantly turns it over. Over the course of a few years, Holly and Luke blow through it, going on fabulous vacations and buying Luke's pride and joy, a new Jeep. During this time, Alice separates from her husband and concentrates on raising their daughter and on her work at the local library. When a building Holly and Luke once lived in is demolished, and a secret involving Holly is exposed, both sisters are terrified. Over the course of the book, we learn their backstories and the secrets they both hold. There were a lot of characters in this book but they were mostly well-developed (if not likable). There were several times when I thought I knew what the outcome would be, but that changed a few times over the course of the book. Thank-you to Netgalley and to the publisher for the ARC of this book

A few pages in and I wasn’t looking forward to finishing this book BUT it picked up speed and I couldn’t stop reading it! I ended up really liking this book. It alternates between Alice’s life and Holly’s.
Alice and Holly are six years apart. When Holly was born Alice made a vow to herself that she would love Holly enough to make up for their dad walking out on them. Over the years, Alice was always there for Holly even when Holly wanted space.
When a building that Holly used to live in is being demolished, she starts to get worried. She can’t talk to Alice about it. They haven’t been close in years.
Alice is trying to move on from a nasty divorce and custody battle when she meets a man that makes her wonder if she can open herself back up. She misses her sister and starts to worry when she’s unable to reach her. When Holly’s name is brought up in an investigation Alice once again puts her sister first. She knows Holly has nothing to do with what happened.

This book had me wondering the entire time and I loved the ending. It wrapped everything up nicely.

This is a thriller than you will not be able to put down.

It has everything, greatly written, understandable and well thought out characters.

Whilst you would hope to never find yourself in a situation with them their motives and beliefs all ring true.

Spectacular

Alice and Holly have been through a lot together – raised by a single mum after their dad leaves when Alice is young and before Holly is born, then through the heartbreak of their mum dying suddenly at a young age, yet there’s a distance between them now which Alice finds difficult to deal with. The story centres around an incident from Holly’s past which despite her new idyllic countryside lifestyle still haunts her. When buried secrets threaten to come to the surface and destroy Holly and those around her, Alice is determined to find out the truth and to stand by her sister, no matter what, as she has done throughout her life. This was an enjoyable, well written book, with a few unexpected twists and turns. I’d recommend this title to anyone who enjoys the mystery and thriller genre. Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Books Ireland for giving me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is told from the viewpoints of Alice and her sister, Holly. When Holly was born, Alice vowed to herself that she would look out for Holly enough to make up for their absent father who walked out before Holly was born. Alice lives up to her promise, however in recent years the two sisters, who were once very close, are driven apart by secrets and jealousy.

When a block of flats Holly used to live in is being demolished, she gets worried. She wants to talk to Alice about it.. but how can she? They are not that close anymore and Holly's husband Luke barely gives her a second to herself when Alice is around.

Meanwhile Alice, gets a knock on the door with questions about Holly. Whilst Alice knows her sister is hiding something, there is no way that Alice believes Holly would have been involved in anything so sinister. , Forced to dig through the past to uncover the truth- Alice uncovers years of Holly's secrets and begins to doubt her innocence.

The Perfect Sister is a psychological thriller which keeps you on your toes guessing! The bond between the sisters was excellent and the book really showed that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, as both sister's fought their own troubles. Zoe Miller, made it easy to relate to the emotions of the characters and the motives behind their actions. For example, Holly didn't want to admit her debt to Alice, which led to a spiral of problems. Whilst it is easy to say 'Well why didn't you say so', you can totally understand why she wouldn't want to admit that and feel for her about how she got into the situation that she found herself in.

Overall, a really good read. Every time I thought I knew, something else came to light.

The Perfect Sister by Zoe Miller focuses on sisters Alice and Holly. They were close growing up, but are now estranged. A mistake from several years ago looms large in this story. What is Holly hiding?

Synopsis:

Once inseparable, years of resentment and jealousy have driven Alice and Holly apart. But, though they barely speak these days, Alice knows her sister is hiding something.

When she hears that a discovery at a soon-to-be-demolished apartment building has led police to re-open an ‘accidental death’ case, Alice thinks nothing of it. She’s distracted by a recent chance encounter with a charismatic man named Damien, and the possibility of romance when she had given up all hope. Until someone knocks at her door, with questions about Holly.

Alice doesn’t believe her sister is capable of involvement in anything so sinister. But when she tries to contact Holly, she can’t be reached…

Forced to dig through the past in order to uncover the truth, Alice starts to uncover years of Holly’s secrets – and to doubt her innocence. As the evidence mounts up, Alice has a choice to make: does she want to help her sister clear her name, even if the price is her own future with Damien?

I’d classify this as a “slow burn” type of book that is suspenseful but not a page-a-minute-thrill ride. It’s a good, solid story, and I liked it.

Shy librarian Alice has always been the perfect sister, protective and nurturing to her younger sister Holly. Holly, a spendthrift who with her husband Luke is confronting mounting debt, could not be more different from her sister and it is those differences that lead to trouble in this fast paced psychological thriller from Zoe Miller.

Alice is working through her divorce from high powered lawyer Ronan and fighting for custody of her young daughter Chloe when she sees a brief story about a condemned apartment building on the evening news. She passes that story on to Holly who used to live in that building. This small act sets in motion a series of events that will reveal long hidden secrets and destroy relationships.

You will not be able to stop reading The Perfect Sister! The suspense just keeps building and just when you think you have it all figured out, another twist is revealed. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Hachette Books Ireland and Zoe Miller for this ARC.

Sisters, Zoe and Alice, haven't really seen eachother since Zoes sudden move seven years ago. Alice has made attempts, but Zoe seems too busy living the perfect life to even pick up the phone.
But Zoes life is far from perfect. She is running from her past, with secrets she can't confide in Alice. One mistake, seven years ago, changed her life.

The Perfect Sister is a slow burn thriller. Alice and Zoe's relationship is the main focus throughout the beginning of the story. Though it wasnt gripping you immediately for a thriller, it would be important later when their relationship suddenly changes. I think it was important to do the extra character development for both sisters, to show how different their lives really are.
The thriller part of the story reveals itself mid book. Things start to get really good. The pace picks up as an investigation starts and reveals secrets. The writer did an awesome job with the timeline and buildup, as well as leaving tidbits to pick up for the mystery.
Zoe Miller is a new writer to me. I am glad she is on my radar now and look forward to reading her next book.

Holly and Alice are sister who have always looked out for each other. Alice, being older, has always felt protective of her younger sister since their Dad walked out and their mother died.
After years of being molly coddled by her big sister and her mother, Holly whats adventure and freedom and after meeting her soul mate, Luke, that is exactly what she gets with devastating consequences.
I've always loved Zoe Miller's ability to combine an easy read with a bit of suspense and that is exactly what you should expect from The Perfect Sister. I really liked the characters in this book and the exciting plot that kept me guessing to the end. I would recommend this book to my customers.
