Description

Love ruined Jared Beckett. Now, it’s his turn to devastate.

I’m not one to mince words. I only have one use for females, being burned one too many times. Hit it and quit it. Now, get out of my life. I wasn’t always this way. In high school, I thought I met The One. She was my every waking thought until she stomped on my heart, destroying me. I’ve never recovered.

Returning to Annapolis to temporarily live with my dad is no joy, especially when my past heartache slams into me, drudging up the bitterness. However, I’m an expert at building walls, figurative and literal. Yet, finding out she never learned to drive because of an accident years ago, I nearly break my neck, offering to teach her. Giving her the keys ensures I’m in control this time, even if it’s not in the driver’s seat. It’s not an invitation to my life, but to my bed or, hell, my back seat, to get my once and done and never again, no matter how much she begs for more. I need to hurt her like she crushed me. I refuse to be her victim a second go-round. Juvenile, maybe, but she created this vengeful and unfeeling monster, and my payback is years overdue.

The Keys to Jericho was chosen as an "Official Selection" in the Romance category of Apple Literary's 2017 Annual Book Awards.

"""Ren has done it again.

She has this amazing way of creating characters that feel like close, personal friends. I feel everything that they go through in such a powerful way that it actually hurts my heart or makes it burst with glee.""

""This is a TEN STAR read. If you want a book that will grab you from beginning to end, then this is your book.""

""The mark of a great writer is leaving the reader wanting more. I just finished Ren Alexander's book The Keys to Jericho and that is exactly what I want-MORE. I love books that pull you so far into the story that you don't notice how long or short the book is. All I know is that when my kindle stopped turning pages I was a little sad that the journey had ended. While sex scenes are off the hotness scale, the love story between Jared and Kat is complicated and beautiful.""

""Ren Alexander is brilliant! She draws you into her books as if you yourself are the main character. Her writing improves with every book she releases and the emotional boundaries she pushes are unfathomable at times, but it works. This book is going on my list of favorites! Read it and I’m sure it will be on yours as well. Fantastic job Ren.""

""So many times I was caught between loving and hating Jared, where many would have given up and walked away from this sarcastic and arrogant man, his family and friends stood by and got him through - by the skin of his teeth, but they got him there. The author did a fantastic job with this story. I wondered to myself if it wasn't a bit long - but I don't think she could have left anything out and achieved such a great result. I hate not knowing what happened to Hadley and how she wrote in her drama with out giving anything at all away was a stroke of mastery. I and now desperate for her book!""

""Ren Alexander is a great manipulator of words. Her Wild Sparks Series left me wrecked and wanting. The Keys to Jericho, Kat and Jared's (Jericho), story, is no exception. I am left wanting. I am left needing more.""

""I don't even know how to write this review! I wish I could rate it higher than a 5 star read because it definitely is! This book blew away every other book I've read this year! Ren grabbed a hold of me and did not let go, she still has me in her grips and I'm okay with that. I can't stop thinking about this book. We got a glimpse of Jared in The Wild Sparks series and I never imagined he would be the way he is. He is nothing like his sister Hadley. I just want to write my review as; this is the perfect book. I laughed so hard, so freaking hard, there was love, fighting, out of this world banter between all of them! The dialogue could not have been any more perfect, I actually pictured myself sitting with them laughing and busting each others balls. I was kept on my toes on every single page, there was no thinking I figured it out because just when I thought I had it BAM, Ren through in a freakin loop! I LOVED IT!! I could not read this book fast enough, and now that it's over I want to read it all over again."""

This is a first time read by Ren Alexander and I enjoyed the story so very much. Ren and Kat made you feel as if they were right there in your space and I love a story that gives a bit of laughter, anger, tears and joy. The intimate scenes were with great taste. I did find myself wanting to have more of this story but alas it ended. Wonderful read and looking forward to reading more from this author.

**3.5 Stars**

** I received a copy of the Keys to Jericho from Net Galley and BooksGoSocial in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions weren't solicited and are given willingly. **

The Keys to Jericho by Ren Alexander is a hard one to review because for the life of me I don't know how others gave it 5 stars if I struggled through the whole book wondering why Jared/Jericho was so hard for me to like. He treated his friends badly and Dad even worse so I'm sorry that bugs me a lot. Anyhow I give the book 3.5 stars and this could be that I haven't read the other books, drank a lot or just perhaps but I just couldn't connect with Jared.

Jared (Jericho) can't commit to any woman mainly because his mom walked away when he was a kid but he's a love 'em and leave 'em kind a guy. He's heading home to Baltimore to visit his dad before starting his new Structural Engineer job in Philadelphia. He'll party with his buddies Dash and Rio, his sister Hadley with boyfriend plus reconnecting his high school crush Katriona. They'll fall in love and he'll have to accept that his mom just lost out on both his kids but he can love someone and have a HEA.

I hate leaving low rated reviews so I'm giving this a 3.5 stars and hopefully when Hadley's book comes out it will be one that I like.
