Flash: 100 Greatest Moments

This is a great reference book and with over 300 pages covers so much and gives out so much information. The structure and the way it is divided in terms of the chapters makes it easy to reference material quickly.
The book covers the early editions of the story through to the more recent. It is interesting to see how both the artwork and the panel placements have progressed over time. Included are the spin off characters and comics from the original which really does give a marvellous insight into this DC character.
I must have reference book for those that are fans of the graphic novel, the history of them, DC comics and The Flash.

After reading the 100 Greatest Moments of Batman, here I'm with Flash. Totally as good! I enjoy watching those moments, remembering some and discovering others. Another great compilation done by DC! Does marvel do similar thing? It sure would be nice... Anyway I would recommend it without hesitation!

This is a well put together attractive book that could serve equally well as reference for a comic book fan or a starting off point for someone new to the character of The Flash.
The book charts the characters journey from early appearances to the modern day, including sidekicks, rogues gallery and different incarnations of the Flash himself.
I'm fairly well read on comic books and I learned a lot from this so for new readers it will be invaluable!

Nicely laid out well written summary of comics lore.

Will really appeal to adults and older comic readers to give them a sense of history. Great for gifting.

I am a big comic fan and I actually don't know much about the Flash so this was nice to read as I could find out quite a lot throughout these. The book also introduced me to comics that I will now want to read because of the moments they showcased! This book is chaptered which is nice as you can go to any specific moment that interests you!

The book showcases a lot of different artists and writers which has also influenced me to look at other works by new to me authors/artists

The Flash: 100 Greatest Moments, by Robert Greenberger, is a browser’s reference book that doesn’t stint on illustrations, always a plus for this sort of subject. As the title says, it’s a look at a (obviously subjective) list of highlights from the eight or so decades the character has been around. While some fans might quibble here and there, the list as a whole is most likely going to find general consensus.

As noted, while one can read it cover to cover, it’s more a browsing kind of book. I say that because it doesn’t go in chronological order, nor does it go into a deep dive in any particular area. So it’s not meant to be read as an analysis, say, of the character’s changes over time. One picks up on those changes while reading, but as the entries shift around in time, it’s not a unified, linear exploration.

Instead, Greenberger has organized the entries by the categories listed below, along with some of their included content

• “The Fastest Man Alive”: Scenes involving the multiple Flashes over the years, from the original Jay Garrick to Barry Allen to Wally West, to Bart Allen
• “Flash Facts”: Marriages and children
• “The Cosmic Treadmill”: various stories, most of which involve the device Flash uses to enhance his abilities
• “The Flash Museum” Founding of the Justice Society and Justice Leagues, Teen Titans, several races with Superman
• The Rogues”: description of the many villains Flash has faced
• “The Speed Force” explanation of the speed power, connections between the various Flashes

Each single entry is typically 3-4 paragraphs long, with a small illustration often accompanying them. Each category usually has a few good size covers scattered within its section, then each one is followed by full-page excerpts from the discussed comics, ranging from a single page to several pages. Having so many multi-page excerpts was a pleasant surprise and gives the reader a true sense of reading the comic as opposed to the usual single representative images. Even better, it allows you to get a strong sense of the range of artistic choices made by the various illustrators over the years.

The non-linearity can feel a bit chaotic/random; as noted it’s hard to get a sense of unity or cohesive big picture look, though the division into segments helps somewhat with that. And I confess that in the running “war” between the two titans of superhero comics, I long ago enlisted in the Marvel camp, though in my earliest comics reading days I did have a short period of time reading a few DC ones, including The Flash. Some of these moments reminded me of why I enjoy Marvel more, but some evoked some nostalgic memories, and others made me think I might have missed a few good stories here and there by giving up DC (I stand happily by my choice though). As a non-fan, this was an interesting and fun read. Fans will I’m sure enjoy it even more.

I loved this book! Flash: 100 Greatest Moments highlights all of the Flash's top battles/moments. It also makes sure to include all four Flashes: Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Wally West and Bart Allen! I've seen the Flash movies/tv shows/etc, but they've missed out on a couple of these comic book moments so it was nice to read it here!

Overall great book, I would definitely recommend for Flash fans.

I really wasn't sure what I was going to be expecting when I first picked this up. There is so much Flash history and information, where do you start?! And it's not just Barry Allen, we have Jay Garrick and Wally West who held up the 'Flash' mantle. The book also included snippets about other folks who are a part of the three's lives. It's very hard to write about each of the three and aim to include everything possible. The focus is slightly more towards Barry Allen, but I do believe it gives a comprehensive guide to the Flash. I wouldn't mind this being a volume series, but in general, this book definitely provides a good guide towards the trio who held up the mantle of the 'Flash.' I'd recommend it for beginners who are wanting to learn more about these individuals without having the time to read all the comics and for those who just want a refresher!

A must for any Flash / DC comics fan. Good mix of vintage and modern even though I’m partial to the classics. Layout is good, just wish the explanations of each moment were next to the scanned pages vs. all being written up together on pages before. Overall a nice resource for fans of The Flash.

The Fastest Man Alive, Scarlet Speedster, Flash, has been racing to help the citizens of Central City and Keystone City since his first appearance in issue 1 of the DC Flash Comics in 1940. This anthology reference book takes a look at the 100 greatest moments, so far, of Flash.

While I enjoyed each section, my favorites were the “Flash Facts” and “The Flash Museum.” In those chapters there was information on the family, various races with Superman, Teen Titan, Justice Leagues, and the Justice Society connections. Flash: 100 Greatest Moments: Highlights from the History of the Scarlet Speedster anthology reference book is a great addition to the DC collection.
