Description

With a clever nod to Dicken’s Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come plus Uncle Sam’s call to action, the story is a great opportunity for children, families, and educators to discuss what part they can play to take care of our environment. With the trademark rhyming pattern of the series, the book takes us forward in time to a vision of a scorched, dry, lifeless earth where the gods of the sky, the seas, and the earth are searching desperately for a means to save the planet. But is it too late? After meeting an old friend, they summon all their powers to send him back to the current day to meet that friend as a boy. There, the boy warns adults and children alike, through social media and other means, about what they need to do in their daily lives so that collectively they can stop the devastation. Complete with activities and action steps, this book cleverly teaches in both the home and classroom.

Advance Praise

“A delightful tale to encourage young ones to think about their role in caring for our environment.”
—Peggy Albertine, Kindergarten teacher 35+ years

“What better way to reach children than to empower them in practical ways to make a difference in their world! This multifaceted book engages children through rhyming prose, intriguing characters, and graphic examples of how to misuse or take care of our precious earth. The journey starts with Pongo the Orangutan who invites a young boy to take a journey into the future and back again. Interesting Greek gods teach him how to take better care of the earth by reusing, recycling, and renewing. It’s a timely message that gives children practical, doable ideas of how they can help make our planet healthy and keep it that way.”
—Angelyn Christy Voss Elementary School Teacher (Ret.)

A great little story, very relevant to today’s world. In simple language it explains to youngsters that the earth is in trouble and they can do little things to help it.

Using a Back to the Future method makes it interesting.

Wonderful illustrations all the way through. There are helpful hints along the way from Pongo the Orangatan. He acts as “host” of the story.

At the end is a section for suggestions to the child, specifically showing what they can do to help our earth. This section is more serious but still easy to understand.

This book is a perfect way to explain to children how we and they should show respect to our Earth.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gelos Publications for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is an adorable little book, which is so integral and important for children to help with their own personal development at a very young age, whilst also telling a cute tale to go alongside.

A Conservation Tale is beautifully written and illustrated. It highlights to children of all ages what they can do to help save the planet.
I read it to my 4 year old son and he loved it. Even at his young age the story provoked questions from him on what he and us as a family can do to help the planet.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gelos Publications for my copy.
