An unseen menace lurks around a rural mansion…

Longing for solitude, city-dweller Pippa Lees agrees to look after a countryside mansion while the owner is away.

But her peaceful retreat soon becomes a frightening ordeal when she starts receiving anonymous phone calls and hearing footsteps at night.

What’s more, each day the house is visited by Dan Mallett — known locally as a handyman-cum-felon with a disarmingly charming manner.

Pippa’s stay takes a turn for the worse when a visiting neighbour is found murdered in the sitting-room after taking a phone call.

And with the police treating her as a suspect, she must decide whether she can trust Dan Mallett to help her unravel the mystery…

Who is behind the menacing phone calls? Could they be connected to the murder?

And will Pippa and Dan fall foul of their malevolent plans…?
