This is a wonderful children's book, which is perfect for this time of the year. My daughter loved this book, which we used as a bedtime story for her. She was very excited about it and she loved the story, characters and the beautiful illustrations, which were magical. Many thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Gingerbread House Laura Gia West is a very cute story to read to children probably would only take five minutes to read. My children used to like to read many stories quick. The pictures in the book are wonderful.
What a beautifully illustrated book this was! Lovely brightly coloured pictures to catch your child's attention & a magical story to boot. Ideal for your little ones Christmas stocking 🎅🏻
This book is beautiful!! Such a lovely title story for kids of all ages, even adults! The illustrations are fantastic and beautifully drawn. This is a prefect Christmas book!
Perfect little Christmas book, with short snappy rhyming verses, a lovely story and bright colourful illustrations.
A fun holiday read for kids! Go on an adventure with a gingerbread man and read this fun and quirky book! Definitely a great read for kids during Christmas! It might just make you want to build a gingerbread house!
This is a lovely book that both myself and my 4 year old son loved. It is beautifully written and illustrated and the story kept my son's attention throughout. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for my ARC.
An excellent Christmas themed picture book which isn’t your usual Christmas story. The beautiful pictures are what makes this book utterly irresistible.
This is a Children's book. I read this book to my three kids (10, and twin boys 6). They all laughed so hard, and I even enjoyed the story. This is just a very cute and funny Christmas. I do not think there is a big message behind the story. We all just need a cute funny Christmas story this year. I am so glad I read this book to my kids tonight. The pictures are so cute as well. I got my kids to count the gingerbread men and other things as I read. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author (Laura Gia West) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
The rhyming will be popular with the kiddos. The illustrations are fun and it is always funny to see dabbing. My only issue with the book is the fancy first letters. The “T”s are hard to distinguish from an “L”. If you are looking for a quick, sweet holiday book, it is a good pick. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the DRC.
Such a lovely Christmassy story. I really enjoyed spending time with my son reading the story and exploring the gorgeous illustrations. A lovely story to be enjoyed for many years to come!
A fun, beautifully illustrated story of what it takes to keep the gingerbread men, who come to life , around until Christmas! Highly recommend!
I loved reading the gorgeous Christmas related book 💕 My nieces and nephews were in love with the cute gingerbread man. I know for sure my sister has now her hands full with baking 😅 The graphics are cute and the text is very easy to read with kids. Definitely an recommendation
What an adorable and clever Christmas book! A modern take on a Christmas story. This is a fun read for both parents and kids. Would make a lovely Christmas gift! The pictures are well done and interesting to look at. Good for ages 0 - 10.
My 4 year old son loved this book and immediately asked for it to be read again. It would be so much fun to “act” out the book with the relevant dance moves and creating a gingerbread house to invite your gingerbread man to live during the holidays. This book could easily be a new holiday tradition for my family, I am definitely going to buy a hard copy. It was fun, an easy read an adventure. The only drawback I have is that the font on the beginning of each sentence of the page was odd and it was hard to read at times. The odd font efinitely dampened the flow of the book.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers. The Gingerbread House is a cute, funny and full of christmas spirit children's books with a fun version of the gingerbread man tale. The illustrations are warm and inviting and the rhyming versed story will make your audience giggle. This is a great book to treat a little one to over Christmas.
Very cute take on the Gingerbread Man. Wonderful illustrations to accompany a warm holiday story. This would be a great addition to any child's library.
3.5 Stars An ‘updated’ take on the old folktale of The Gingerbread Man, with a new twist. Every Christmas season gingerbread men come to life, and they dance! Hip-hop dancing gingerbread men who moonwalk on shelves, do the twist, as well as the chicken dance - one after the other. If you want them to stop, you’ll need to build a house! Of course, it’s a Gingerbread house. The ending adds a touch of sweet, ending with: ’Tis the season for giving. It’s better by far. After all, home is where… All the cookies are… Merry Christmas! This will especially appeal to the youngest family members, who will enjoy the rhythm and rhyme it provides, as well as the illustrations - especially the gingerbread holiday decorations. Published: 01 Nov 2020 Many thanks for the ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op
Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC of The Gingerbread House by Laura Gia West. At Christmas you build a beautiful house covered in candy. But who is the gingerbread house for? Why the gingerbread man of course! This Christmas season you can learn all about the Gingerbread Man. This would be the perfect book to read right before making a gingerbread house with your family. The story is really cute and my 5 and 7 year old nanny kids both enjoyed it. I'm excited to read this to my nephews next month and I look forward to adding it to our holiday collection.
Super cute illustrations and story, loved it! Great twist on the classic holiday and gingerbread man story.
Okay this is an adorable holiday book and would be perfect for story time to a group of kids! The illustrations are clean and cute and the story is fun!
Description Run run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me…. or can you? Every Christmas season, gingerbread men come alive. The only way to keep them around until Christmas, is through a treasured and tasty secret. If it’s done right, something special is left behind. So when Christmas is round the corners what can be better than a picture book about the gingerbread men? The liked the lively pictures and the rhyming scheme yet I found the story to be a bit scattered but still it was funny and that's what needs to be cherished. Thank you #netgalley for the e-copy.
I just loved this story it was the cutest story about the gingerbread needing a home. I loved the rhyme and repetition in the story. My grandson adored this story , I would love to have a copy at home and for my library at school. I would love to make some things to go along with the story for my teachers pay teachers store. The illustrations in this story are adorable and the plot just fit right at this time of the year. This story just popped with the lively gingerbread man , I loved when you had him dab. Just the cutest story.
I know of several children will love the sing song type rhymes that run throughout this book. As a baker, I love the line "Home is where the cookies are!"
This is a cute and festive story to get little ones in the Christmas spirit. The illustrations are great and this is a good read-aloud storybook and perfect holiday gift. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.
This was a super fun story to read! A great book to put us into the Christmas spirit, although, a little early. We're a Christmas family so we couldn't help it. A simple and great concept for a children's story book. I am not a big fan of the illustrations for this book but my children did not care. They were happy to see the gingerbread man, all the elves, gingerbread houses, all the Christmas-y things. It was a bit above my daughters reading level but the story really made her want to read it herself, with help. This was a great Christmas book and I could easily purchase this book and make it part of our Christmas library.
A big thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op for a chance to read and review an arc of this adorable book!! My kids and I all adored this and now we can’t wait to build a gingerbread house for our gingerbread man!! I can see me reaching for this each year as we prepare for the night of gingerbread creating. Love it!
I love this book because of his poetry in it and the melodys. Who likes to dance and sing will love this book. And also the lovely illustrations will make U happy. Christmas is a wonderfull time and this book is a perfect gift to makes the little ones happy.
The Gingerbread House is a holiday treat! Filled with snappy rhymes and a spunky protagonist, it's a great book to read for the holidays (ideally, before baking ginger bread cookies./houses!)
A darling, clever concept for a holiday read. This was a delight for my four year old and I, with simple and mostly clever rhyming text and fun, festive illustrations. It’s a great concept for a quick Christmas story, and makes for a fun companion activity to baking gingerbread men and building gingerbread houses for the holiday season. Enjoyable and free of the over-sentimental schlock that plagues holiday stories, this is a cut above most of its ilk and—paired with a gingerbread house baking kit—would make a great Christmas gift for youngsters.
This was a super cute story about a Gingerbread man and his little story through the holidays. The art and illustrations were cute! This was a fun book, perfect for this time of year! I was given an advanced reader's copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I loved this book! This is my first Christmas-y book of the season and I really enjoyed it. I liked the rhymes ok, but what I enjoyed the most was the story. The gingerbread man needs a home! so cute
Hi, today I bring you a short review of a children's book that I read with my 3 year old niece. This is a special book for this Christmas season and you can read it with the little ones because it has some very nice illustrations and that calls them a lot because although the dialogues are not at all long, I think the images help them understand the reading better. At least with my niece it happened that way and we laughed a lot while I was reading to her and looking at the illustrations. Thank you so much to the Author and NetGalley for the ARC, I’m freely give my honest review. Until the next book :)
A children’s book filled with festive fun and all things Christmas. Gorgeous illustrations and a sweet story about a gingerbread man. Can’t wait to share this with my young nephew.
The Gingerbread House is a Christmas picture book about a gingerbread man who comes to life. Sound familiar? Well this isn't that typical gingerbread man story. In this one, the gingerbread offers to stay instead of running away but only if a someone builds him a nice gingerbread house. This means lots of candy decorations and icing. This was a cute little story with lots of colorful illustrations. My 6 year old enjoyed listening to it and now wants to make some gingerbread men. Maybe after Thanksgiving, kiddo. ;)
An absolutely adorable Christmas book that children will love. I can easily see this book becoming a part of many family's Christmas traditions. Parents will read this book to their little ones at bedtime to get them into the holiday spirit. The illustrations are fabulous. The page that shows the gingerbread man dabbing actually made me laugh out loud and children are bound to love the illustrations. I have to rate this book as 5 OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because I truly believe this book embodies the Christmas spirit and will bring smiles to children and adults alike. I will be purchasing copies of this book for a few families this year. *** Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book. ***
This is a fun addition to our holiday book collection! We enjoyed the amusing rhymes and festive illustrations. This is a jazzier gingerbread tale; the gingerbread man in this version dies the moonwalk and the chicken dance. Very entertaining! I know it will be reread often this holiday season.
The holiday season is upon us, which we all look forward to. Christmastime is special for all of us, a time when we can enjoy the beauty of decorations and the jolly spirit, but still this period is especially important for the little ones. This is something they experience in a much more intense way than us adults, something they look forward to all year and something that brings real magic into their daily lives. What amazes me every year is the fantastic selection of children's literature, which allows us to spend time together with our little ones, a time when we can relax and enjoy the uniqueness of this holiday. The Gingerbread House is a nice Christmas-themed picture book that celebrates the beauty and spirit of this festive season. The front page is absolutely gorgeous, and that's what drew us to the story book right away. The rhyming verses are quite simple, I guess it is intended for the youngest readers, and in a possible interesting way it conveys the spirit of Christmas, especially the story about a gingerbread man, that is not the usual one that we know. Not only does it abound with elements that beautifully reflect this holiday, but it also describes in a very interesting way the way the house is made, what can be used for decoration. The illustrations are absolutely wonderful and without words they tell the story in their own way. Definitely one of the best illustrations I've seen lately. Definitely a nice addition to the Christmas collection of story books that will delight the youngest one. Similar to the traditional Gingerbread man story, yet more festive and different in a way.
I read this to my 7yo tonight before bed. It was a nice Christmas story about The Gingerbread Man and his house. This would be a great story to read before you built a Gingerbread House. It may make the kids excited to build the house and not just about tasting the icing. :-)
I read The Nutcracker and The Night Before Christmas in some form every year. I absolutely love the imagination and the fun. I think I may have to add a new one to the pile... It's fun, it's lyrical and I'm positive my grandbabies are going to love it. Looks like I'm buying them each an extra gift this year 🤣🤣 I am always on the lookout for quality childrens books. If you have young ones this book is fun, lyrical and a definite recommend. Thank you to NetGalley for the gifted E-Book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.
This book will make kids laugh! It might also make them want to make a Gingerbread Man and House! This Gingerbread Man has some dancing skill and the kids might ask you to perform a little if you are willing! It will definitely keep their attention through the last page. Great colors and illustrations. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
This is the cutest Gingerbread tale!! Everyone should read it to their class!! It has motions throughout it so your kiddos can get up and move while you read it!!!
Super cute! will be recommending to my cousins who have little ones. I think this has enough humor for the adult to enjoy reading it aloud. The art is cute and I love good christmas-y vibe to kids art (cant go wrong) Would recommend.
My family loved this delightful holiday story about a gingerbread man! The Gingerbread house is a funny tale for anyone who is ready to get into the Holiday Spirit. Laura Gia West does a lovely job of mixing humor with heart throughout the story. My kids said their favorite part was the "Hip Hop Dance." The illustrations are simple and beautiful with just the perfect details for the story. The Gingerbread House is sure to be an instant family classic to kick off the holiday season. #LauraGiaWest. #TheGingerbreadHouse #NetGalley
This was a fun festive read! The author has written the book really well and I loved the flow of the story. I liked the illustrations too and they were really cute and worked well to bring the story to life - I loved the different take on the traditional approach too - we had actually bought my daughter a Gingerbread House to decorate in the week so she loved this one! It is 4 stars from me for this one!
This book was received as an ARC from Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own. This was such a wonderful holiday story that brought a lot of holiday cheer which is needed throughout this holiday season with the effects of COVID-19. I have heard and read so many variations of the gingerbread man that it is one of my all time favorite holiday stories and now reading the Gingerbread House and having the infamous gingerbread man still part of the story with his infamous 'you'll never catch me!" brought back so many memories that I could not help but to have a smile on my face and my heart be warmed when I finished this book. I really can see doing this book for a story time and sharing it with our elementary schools to still bring holiday cheer because even in the toughest times, everyone deserves some holiday cheer. We will consider adding this title to our JHOLIDAY PIC BOOK collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for this arc. This was so cute, and the perfect holiday read. I like how this expands past gingerbread cookies and more so what happens to them after they are baked. It helps to show all the fun of when they come to life and keeping them around. This was really fun and enjoyable, and I loved it. That is why it deserves 4.5/5
My six-year-old daughter loved this story! The illustrations are beautiful. When I asked my daughter what her favorite part of the story was she said the ending when the gingerbread man said they could eat him. I will be looking for this in hardback, it will make a wonderful addition to our Christmas book collection.
A cute story for kids about gingerbread men coming alive with superb illustrations. I especially enjoyed their dance moves! A must read for kids during the holidays!
This book is perfect for those ages 7-9. If you are looking for a Christmas book for your children to start reading now this is the book for that! I get you all ready for the holiday and gives you all of the warm fuzzy feelings! After I read this I had my son read through it too and he loved it! This is a perfect book to read to your children too if they are still too young to read! Thank you #netgalley and #victoryediting
Oh my goodness! I absolutely adored this book! The illustrations were perfect! My kids enjoyed it as well.
Thank you to next gallery for an arc of this book go an honest review. Cute Christmas book based on keeping the gingerbread man in your house by building him a gingerbread house. My three-year-old loved that the book rhymed, and as soon as we finished she wanted to read it again. Very nice illustrations especially the cover. My three year old kept flipping through the pages on my iPad looking at the illustrations and asking me about what I saw in the picture. The book did a good job kept it my youngster engage, and for that it is easily worth five stars. Overall solid Christmas book geared towards children.
Very funny and sweet! It was the first book to read to my baby in my stomach. and we really enjoyed!
If you're ready to begin a gingerbread construction, wait! First read this delightful holiday book! It is a perfect introduction to making a seasonal gingerbread house, truck, boat, or whatever! The pictures seem to dance on the page - rich in detail and color and so lifelike! The story rings poetically and is very captivating! This story belongs in the home of children everywhere and hopefully wherever there are gingerbread cookies, too!
The cover and gorgeous illustrations really draw you in. A fun quick bedtime story or story to share with the kids while baking cookies. The rhyming makes it easy for younger children to follow along and the illustrations are beautiful. Definitely a book to reach for during the holiday season and would give some great ideas for gingerbread house decorating.
Absolutely adorable book for this holiday season about baking gingerbread men & houses. It will definitely make your little one squeal with delight! *Thanks to Victory Editing and NetGalley for this Ebook in exchange for my honest review
I was so intrigued by the cover that I just had to get this with my 4 children in mind. The illustrations are exactly what you need during this holiday season. My kids and I enjoyed every minute, every page of this book and I can’t wait to get my hands on the physical copy to gift them for Christmas. Thank you so much for the arc, netgalley. It’s perfect for my kids.
A beautiful sweet book with fabulous illustrations! Every holiday season, gingerbread men are looking for a lovely gingerbread house to stay in. This book encourages children to build an enticing house for them, otherwise they may not stay. This book provides the impetus to start a new holiday tradition of building a gingerbread house that’s beautifully decorated in order to encourage the gingerbread man to stay. We loved it!
In 1875 The Gingerbread Man folk tale was first told, since then the story has been passed down from generation to generation. The Gingerbread House is like an up-to-date sequel to that tale, perfect for children today. So how do you catch the Gingerbread Man? With a Gingerbread House, maybe! In this rhyming and beautifully illustrated young children’s picture book, we follow the Gingerbread Man as he lets us know what will keep him from running away. He wants a house to live in but it must have sweets, oh and maybe a car too. The plot is a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it, I’m confident little children will love it too. It certainly brought the Gingerbread Man into the twenty-first century with his moonwalking and hop-hop dancing. I can see this being a book wanted over and over again at bedtime. Ms. West has done a fabulous job carrying on the years-old tale and if you love the original I suggest you give this one a read too.
This is a cute book with some wonderful, vibrant illustrations. I think the little ones ages 4 and up would enjoy the rhyming and the antics that the gingerbread man comes up with. I do like the houses etc that are shown, they are cute and I would like to try my hand at one some day. The only thing I don't like is the message that maybe "the gingerbread man would stay around if you just built the right house". The younger kids might think that this could really be true? That's my only problem with the book. I can recommend this for a fun, original and brightly illustrated Christmas book for children ages 4 and up. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
This was such a cute little read about a gingerbread man. I really enjoyed it and my boys who are 2 and 3 enjoyed it as well. I loved the art work and how colorful it was. It's definitely a great read for the winter season and especially for Christmas, I would love to read it before making a gingerbread house or even after making one it would be perfect and maybe even a perfect tradition. I would definitely recommend this adorable little story to teachers, librarians and of course adults with young children. Thank you so much to the publisher and also to netgalley for sending me a free e arc for my honest review!
I thought this will be a regular fairy tales book about a gingerbread house, but nope, I was wrong. With rhymes infused modern fairy tale, this will surely lightened up your Christmas. You don't really need to go out to celebrate winter this year, but stay at home with gingerbread, inspired by this book! A truly entertaining story about a gingerbread man who needs a house and what so ever.
The Gingerbread House by Laura Gia West is a delight. This story can become a tradition you read every year with a wonderful story and colorful illustrations it has what it takes to read year after year. It is a story about gingerbread men that come to life each Christmas time. This is their special magical story. It is a story full of wonder, laughs and joy perfect as a holiday story. Little ones to early elementary will enjoy this one. Enjoy the Gingerbread men as they dance around and have a wonderful time with a little rhyme too.
Another holiday book to add to the classrooms! The Gingerbread House is a humorous and fun read-aloud book with engaging illustrations that will delight readers.
Who is ready for Christmas? The Gingerbread men surely are. And you? The Gingerbread House, with illustrations of Christmas essentials and the redness spilled all over, is an X-mas read for kids. The book will excite children to build a gingerbread house for the Gingerbread man, because, hey, where else will the gingerbread man stay? And what's a gingerbread house without other Christmas decorations? Therefore, you'll find all the necessary Christmas cheers in this book in the form of illustrations- Santa, elves, snowman, reindeer, Christmas tree, presents, and also the Santa's sledge. The poetic form of the sentences and the rhyming words used only make it the best read for little kids. Grab this book for kids to prep them up for the upcoming festivity and cheer.
This book was such a happy surprise for me! It truly brought to life the spirit of Christmas, and I found myself feeling like a small child while reading it. It has very entertaining and sweet rhymes that would bring a smile on anyone's face in a blink of an eye! I recommend this sweet little picture book for every child out there that dreams of Christmas, every mother than has to put her kid to sleep, as well as to all the adults out there that never stopped believing in magic.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was such a cute picture book! My kids thought it was hilarious!
"𝓦𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓮𝔂𝓮𝓼 𝓶𝓪𝓭𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓻𝓪𝓲𝓼𝓲𝓷𝓼, 𝓐𝓷𝓭 𝓫𝓾𝓽𝓽𝓸𝓷𝓼 𝓸𝓯 𝓬𝓱𝓲𝓹𝓼, 𝓗𝓮 𝓸𝓹𝓮𝓷𝓮𝓭 𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓮𝔂𝓮𝓼 𝓐𝓷𝓭 𝔀𝓲𝓰𝓰𝓵𝓮𝓭 𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓱𝓲𝓹𝓼 𝓘'𝓶 𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓿𝓮! 𝓘'𝓶 𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓿𝓮! 𝓗𝓮 𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓭 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓹𝓻𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓭." THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE by Laura Gia West brings a fun twist to the story of the gingerbreadman. It was an entertaining read, with very cute illustrations. I found the gingerbreadman quite sassy, which was funny and totally unexpected but most welcome in those dire times. Make me want to bake christmas cookies 😂
My toddler and I have enjoyed this over and over and over this holiday season! Thanks NetGalley for the advance read. Super cute, fun read!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review. This is a cute picture book featuring a gingerbread man cookie who wants to run away - like gingerbread men are wont to do. With a gentle rhyme and fun pictures, you can learn how to entice your cookie to stay and not run away.
“With eyes made of raisins, And buttons of chips, He opened his eyes, And wiggled his hips” The Gingerbread House by Laura Gia West was too cute! This is definitely going on my list of children’s books I need to collect for a future family. The rhymes were catchy, the illustrations were perfect, and this would make such a fun holiday activity for kiddos! Baking gingerbread men, decorating gingerbread houses, and reading this lovely story!
It is always magical to read about Christmas, but this book was also entertaining. Any parent who'd like to connect and have fun with their children will adore this book as it will nudge them to bake together. I can even smell the gingerbread cooking!
"The Gingerbread House" is a sweet and funny picture book about the secret life of Gingerbread men. The perfect read for Christmas!
The Gingerbread House by Laura Gia West is the retelling of the Gingerbread Man story with its own unique twist. The adorable rhymes and detailed pictures evoke such a magical feeling of Christmas traditions. My almost four year old loved reading this one with me and wanted some special treats afterward. I could not blame him, the fantastic depictions of candy and cookies made me hungry too! I was provided a free advance reader copy from Victory Editing in exchange for my honest review on Net Galley. The opinions shared in this review are my own.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a super cute book with attractive illustrations. I do think it will be enjoyed more by older children than younger ones. Some of the vocabulary is higher than most books written for pre-school or kindergarten aged children to read.
*Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC. All thoughts are my own.* What a cute story it is perfect for the Holidays! The Gingerbread House is a charming book about a gingerbread man that comes to life during the Christmas season. It is a humorous tale and I believe kids will love it! The illustrations are gorgeous, colorful and eye-catching, I couldn't stop admiring them. Very much recommend it!
The Gingerbread House picture book is perfect Posted on December 24, 2020by michellelovatosbookreviews, world's first book color commentator Gather round, children, and let me share a darling holiday story. Twas the month before Christmas when all through the land, there were gingerbread men who were spicy and tanned. The Gingerbread House, a picture book by Laura Gia West, is not a redo of T’was the Night Before Christmas. But it may be one of those children’s books parents read to their small kids for generations into the future. This is downright adorable. In The Gingerbread House, a very special collection of, well, gingerbread men, somehow become as alive as Frosty and Olaf and dance around their snow dazzled home with the most trendy dance moves known to mankind. Seriously. I never thought I’d laugh at a gingerbread man, reindeer, and snowman dance team dabbing. To dab, by the way, is to drop one’s head into a bent slant, upwardly angle one arm in the opposite direction -across the front of your face – and ensure the other arm is parallel. Don’t feel bad. I had to look it up and though I thought this move was something new in 2020, it actually originated in 2015. Shows how hip I am. But this page in The Gingerbread House is so creative and original, that it actually shows a dancing word-formation that says “dabbing through the snow.” Written in the syntax rhythm of T’was the Night Before Christmas, this story shows children all the fun things that this gingerbread man can do when magically alive. “He can moonwalk on shelves, can-can down a tree, do the Twist with the elves, and chicken dance until he’s free.” Boy, this guy is active. But Mr. Gingerbread man explains that he will quit running away if his readers build him a gingerbread house. “Now Dasher, now Dancer, now gumdrops and mints!” By the time our young readers are through listening to this adorable tale, each reader is invited to eat Mr. Gingerbread man without fear. Before, as everyone knows, he’ll be back next year. firstname.lastname@example.org BoutiqueBooks@hotmail.com Happy are those who respect the Lord and obey him. Super cute and charming! I was expecting this to be a full on middle grade novel but it read like a picture book! Either way, very cute and worth picking up for any holiday season!
This story takes the fable of The Gingerbread Man, updates it and adds a twist for Christmas. The gingerbread man comes to life at Christmas time and has a lot of fun. He convinces the people who made him that he needs a house, so they build him one. This is just a fun story with wonderful illustrations. The rhyming was a bit rough at times and it made it hard to keep a rhythm while reading, but the kids enjoyed this story and laughed a many of the antics the gingerbread man got up to. A cute Christmas story that little ones will enjoy. A family project of making a gingerbread house could follow the reading of this story. I was gifted a copy of this book upon request. The rating and ideas shared are my own.
I loved this book! This is such a cute story for Christmas and I love the idea behind the gingerbread people coming to stay in the gingerbread house that you decorate. This just makes me want to decorate a super awesome gingerbread house in the hope that a gingerbread person will stay for Christmas! The illustrations were super cute and the whole book was just so magical. It was so much fun to read!
My kids loved this book. Super cute and love the characters and pictures. My kids wanted to read it again and again. I will probably surprise them and buy it for them soon. Thanks for this early review around Christmas time. Loved it!
such an adorable children's book a slightly different retelling of the gingerbread man. i read this with my 6 year old and she absolutely loved how witty and funny it was. it has simple rhyming sentences (similar to Julia Donaldson's work) which we found easy to read and got us totally swept away in the story, plus the illustrations are just so vivid and colourful that it just adds a whole extra dimension to the storytelling process
