Description

Heath Winslow is a cynical, self-deprecating freelance journalist seeking to inform and influence his readers about the political, social, and economic shifts sweeping Europe in the late 1980s. At the same time, he faces personal challenges as people in his life seek to influence his work. The adventure culminates in the fall of the Berlin Wall and far-reaching changes impacting the continent-and the world.

"From Mr. Peanutbutter:

5.0 out of 5 stars - Historical fiction at its finest

(Reviewed in the United States on Nov. 1, 2020)

I picked up Mr. Zielsdorf’s second novel after throughly enjoying his debut Green Card Soldier. It follows the adventures of journalist Heath Winslow during the upheaval in Germany in the late 80s before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Without knowledge of history we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. Anyone younger who isn’t aware of the political shift from authoritarian USSR to the current social democratic state of Germany should read this book. For anyone older like myself it’s a great reminder, put in a very entertaining package. It’s a quick a fun read but also educational. Highly recommend!"
