A digital chance encounter that springs an online friendship that slowly crosses the borders of the digital realm into real life, bringing along the bazillion-dollar question, w𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 π’šπ’π’– 𝒅𝒐 π’˜π’‰π’†π’ π’šπ’π’– π’Žπ’†π’†π’• 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑢𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π’Žπ’π’”π’• π’Šπ’Žπ’‘π’π’”π’”π’Šπ’ƒπ’π’š π’˜π’“π’π’π’ˆ π’•π’Šπ’Žπ’†?

There’s so much going on in Anna’s life. Teaching countless hours at the studio and nurturing the three major relationships of her life – her group of tight-knit friends, all while attempting to not screw up this whole adulthood thing leaves very little time to waste on yet another dating app. At this point, a relationship is off the menu. Being β€œself-partnered” is more than enough.

A serious relationship has been crossed off Liam Brody’s list of goals, at least for the foreseeable future. Completing his residency and becoming a trauma surgeon is his only priority. Casual relationships, his friends, and books are the only things he’s willing to lose his precious free time to.

When an accidental email starts a deep online connection, both Liam and Anna dive in with zero concern . . . because there’s really no harm in getting close to someone who you’ll never meet in real life, right?

Wrong.

When a turn of events brings their β€œsafe” virtual connection to an unexpected face-to-face, Anna and Liam learn their online chemistry pales in comparison to the real deal. A realization that brings along the bazillion-dollar question – what do you do when you meet The One at the most impossibly wrong time?

A very cute and fun romance. I like both of the characters and how they met. It's an interesting story with a happy and satisfying ending. Finished it in one day. Highly recommended.

This book was really really cute. I gobbled it up. I love the trope! Accidentally communicating online and then meeting in real life? Ah-dorable. Sign me up, I will read them all. Another of my favorites: a group of best girl friends who love each other! This book has everything! (Channeling SNLs Stefon)

I enjoyed the story. I really loved Anna. She is strong and independent and knows who she is. She does not need a man. She is not looking for love. Anna is KILLING it in her career. She has the best friends. She's good.Β

I think Liam is adorable. He's all wrapped up in living his life in the order he laid out for himself. Best laid plans, and all that. I also want to slap him. He is so worried about the timing of everything, that he almost loses the best thing that ever happened to him. If he were my friend, I'd shake him.Β

The story is adorable, the plot is well laid out, and the characters are fun. I cannot wait for the next book.

This is a light cozy little story. All started by a mistaken email. that turns the heart of a single health coach, into finding the love of her life. Anna is a fitness coach that is looking to take the next step in owning her fitness studio. She has a great group of friends from different backgrounds but they all make the friendship work. Even her sister Victoria a business professional who doesn't need a man to make her happy. Pandora or Panda a Kindergarten teacher who turns into wild girl when she is out on the town, and Kayla their drummer friend who believes you shouldn't be with just one man have many. Anna is fine with her life until she gets a mistaken email meant for someone else. She finally finds out who its from and Anna and Liam and ER doctor embark on a relationship that was only to a casual friendship but ends up into something much much more.

I love the way the author brings not only Anna's friends whom she calls chickens and Liam's friends into their story which they are trying to convince Anna and Liam that it is more then friendship. Liam is worried because his last relationship ended badly and hated to push Anna away. The author brings you on a journey of ups and downs for two people who when one wants a full blown relationship and the other couldn't bear to hurt the women he truly loves, plus he is off to the Sudan for Doctors without Borders.

I enjoyed this story because it was light and fluffy. Very easy to read and a little predictable but enjoyable. The author's character's were smart and had personalities. The story was tied up perfectly when we finally meet the person the email was intended for. I see that a second book is coming I would be very interested to read it.

I absolutely adored this cute little romance. In today's world of technology, it's so believable that something like this could happen. The chemistry between Anna and Liam was adorable, and Anna's friend group was such a great part of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would suggest this read to my romance enjoying friends!

3.5-4 stars. Anna and Liam meet by way of email correspondence, where Liam shoots off an email meant for his best friend and it lands in Anna's inbox instead. Anna, who happens to be ever the quintessentially polite and professional, but also goofy, personality responds back. Much to Liam's amusement at her reply, he answers back. They develop a very solid friendship online that seems perfect in a cyber sense, but would be difficult to replicate from a real world perspective, or so they think. Anna has her hands full with investing in a studio which she hopes to own someday and Liam is elbow deep in his residency as a trauma surgeon at the ER. Sending emails back and forth is pretty easy. As time goes on and it's obvious they live in the same city, they talk on the phone and make plans to meet up. There's no denying the obvious physical attraction after establishing the already online connection. I enjoyed the banter and dialogue between them, it felt very natural. The chapters alternated between Anna and Liam so it was transparent to the reader as to what they were thinking and feeling. Despite all the time and conversation with each other, there was a little bit of angst as far as Liam holding back. He didn't want to commit to a relationship because of his heavy obligations regarding work so he keeps Anna in the friend zone, but otherwise, he knew that Anna was the jackpot for him as far as envisioning the future. I genuinely liked both of them, particularly Anna and how classy she was, but also very forthright in her communication. Yet she could dissolve the tension with humor while still addressing it directly. I wouldn't have minded if Anna offered a bit more resistance to make Liam sweat a little more, but overall, it was a cute and light hearted story with two good main leads.

"When it works, all the rest is just noise."

I would like to thank the author for this e-ARC copy of her book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. ,

This is my first Sigal Elrlich book and my first finished read for 2021 - and it is a great start for a new reading year.

By Mistake is a very warm, lighthearted and slow burn romance about a ER resident and a fitness instructor who accidentally meet through a randomly sent email and forms a friendship around it. I'm not usually a fan of romance novels having an online dating plot, but this somehow works for me because it started off as an accidental friendship before turning something deeper. There wasn't any angst or lust at first sight going on with this novel, so I really enjoyed the wholesome budding friendship and romance it had. I just love how Liam and Anna 's online friendship blossomed, and I was giddy and excited for both of them. There were a few steamy parts towards the end, but this book is pretty much tame and fluffy.

The writing style and flow of the story are pretty straightforward, and while it was predictable, I still found myself reading quickly through this book to know what happens next to Liam and Anna. As a medical student, I really love that Liam is an ER resident, so I found myself empathizing him more because I understand his crazy schedules, his need to put his career first before his life ( because I'm the same), and that his personal life will always need to take a step back. Everything about him just resonates with me, so I found myself enjoying his character more, even though he did make a few very awful mistakes at the latter chapters. On the other hand, Anna was a fun oddball, and she matched Liam's pristine personality to a T. They're the type of characters you both root for separately and together. I also love their relationships with their family and friends, because those characters definitely brought more life into the story.

This book is just so good, and I can't wait to read the other ones in this brand new series.

This to me felt like your every day Hallmark story. Where a workaholic finds that work isn't everything and that love was there all along. I have to say that for me it didn't feel like anything new was brought to the table with one. However, it was a cute little story. If you aren't looking for anything new in the way of a story. And you are just looking for a fun read then check this one out. I do like that each book is about new characters but they are still connected. It's a great way to do a series.

Really enjoyable cute read, there are some hilarious moments between the group of girls. The girls are awesome, anyone would want to be part of this group. Anna is a great heroine, I loved her positive attitude, Liam was just ok for me, there ending seemed a bit rushed and I felt their HEA was a bit HFN rather that a true ending.

An errant email brings two people ,adamant that their busy and structured lives will not allow for a relationship. However as two strangers find shared interests and share more of themselves due to their anonymity , a friendship blossoms on the screen and a deep attachment forms. Can decisions based on a sensible approach to life be changed by the tug of the heart?

This is a sweet and a fast paced Romance that frustrates in the middle as we all know that trying not to do something only wants to make you do it more, like the age old example of laughing in church. The friendship group is a fun mix with each girl offering a different facet to relationship issues to explore in future books.

A solid start to what looks to be a promising series .

*Thank you to NetGalley and Sigal Ehrlich for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review"

This book is more about the power of friendship than the trials and tribulations of a new romance.

Anna is a full time Fitness Instructor with an amazing group of friends, a beautiful Hygge apartment and many other interests that leave little time for romance. Liam is a Trauma Surgeon who has just applied for a job with Doctors without Borders who doesn't see romance until long into his future. What they don't know is sometimes Romance finds you. The very best parts of this beautiful novel not only involve the lovely bits with Liam and Anna but Anna's gorgeous friendships, which sometimes involve laugh out loud scenarios but also include comfort and other benefits of close connections with other women.

This was such a cute and funny book. There was nothing too heavy and most of the characters were funny and sweet. It was a perfect time of year to read. Five Stars.

This is the first book I have read by Sigal Ehrich and it exceeded my expectations! It is well written and a very well thought out book. There is for sure a slow burn and the H, Liam, does have some issues to work through, but I really did like both Liam and Anna. Both are strong characters and well developed. I cannot wait for Victoria's story!

Thanks, NetGalley for giving me a copy to preview!

Thank you NetGalley and Sigal Ehrlich for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
This was my first Sigal Ehrlich book and it will NOT be my last! I was hooked and finished this one sitting. When I hit 30% without looking up I had to check to make sure this wasn’t actually a novella. I inhaled this one! I’ve read a ton these past two weeks and I’ll admit, the books were starting to bleed together. This felt like the palate cleanser I needed!
Anna has built a life to envy. Happy and healthy with a job she loves as a workout class instructor and a group of friends who rival The Sisterhood of the traveling Pants gals. Independent, confident and sweet, she was easy to like! When she receives a funny email addressed to someone else, she decides to respond, sparking a connection neither of them saw coming. Between his last year as a surgical resident, applying to work for the Doctors Without Borders program and his right knit group of friends, Liam barely has time to respond to his emails. But it’s one person’s messages who he can’t keep off his mind. They’re perfect for each other, but the timing isn’t right to dive into a relationship. It’s the age old question... What do you do when you find the Right Person at the Wrong Time?
I’ve talked about my own personal love story on Booksta, before, but my own POV really had me on an emotional rollercoaster with this one! I have been the person who loved someone so much, that I refused to be with him until I was the best version of myself and we could have the healthiest and happiest relationship. I respect Liam for that so much. BUT. Holy cow I wanted to shake him sometimes. I have also been the girl who was with the guy who did everything a committed partner would do except commit. That is a VERY crappy feeling. I loved Anna so much that I just wanted him to get over it, even though I agreed with him. As I said, emotional rollercoaster!
This was such a good book and I can’t wait to read book #2 in the series!

By Mistake is my first book by Ehrlich but it certainly wont be my last. I was first intrigued by both the lovely cover and blurb of the book. Liam Brody is a doctor focusing on finishing his residency to become a trauma surgeon and get accepted at Doctors without Borders. Anna Nielsen is busy with her friends and teaching countless hours of yoga and pilates. She is hoping to get a loan to have her own fitness studio. As a result both are adamant that their busy and hectic lives will not allow for a relationship. After an errant email Anna and Liam’s relationship begins demonstrating how even when you’re not looking for love, love still finds you.
I really liked Anna’s character from her sassy attitude to her love of healthy living. The main thing I liked about her is how she is there for the people she cares about shown through her great friendship group aka β€˜the chickens’. I loved the girls and cant wait to find our more about them.
Liam,Liam,Liam. I think I may have found a new book boyfriend. A funny, smart, kind, saves lives for a living AND is a bookworm. Could not have asked for a better love interest. The main thing that stood out about him was his humour. I loved the banter in the book which led to some laugh out loud moments

The book was also great plot wise and as expected from the hilarious back and forth email between them, Liam and Anna’s chemistry was off the charts. The only real problem I had with the book was the pretty obvious SPAG errors at the beginning which made it had to read but Im glad I pushed through.

If you want a slow burn contemporary romance that will make you laugh I would recommend you read this book.
By Mistake is a standalone and is #Book1 in the Poison and Wine Series. Can’t wait for the next instalment.

Wow! 4.5!!!

My first time reading this author and I can't wait to dive into some more of her work!

The premise of by Mist@ke was very intriguing, an accidental email leads to a online friendship and then to a real life meet. ❀ one of my favorite romance tropes.

The dual perspectives were thoroughly enjoyable to read and the email tag lines were a perfect addition.

The main character is so quirky and relatable and I loved her friend group. Each of them reminded me of someone I know and I really hope we get a story about each.

This is my first time reading this author and I absolutely LOVED this book so much. I would prob charecterise it as more chick lit than romance because its about a whole group of women who are very close to each other and they call themselves The Chickens in text messages. I imagine each chicken will get their own book. The chickens are Panda, Kelsie, Victoria and the heroine of this story, Anna.

Liam is the hero in this story and I mostly loved him. He is a doctor and his dream is to work for Doctors Without Borders. He has a friend called Little Shit and he finds an old pic of them together and emails it to his friend. But it ends up in Annas email and so starts their email relationship.

Anna is beautiful. She is of Danish decent and has blonde hair and blue eyes, loves quotes, is into excercise, is interested on how food can benefit bodies and adores spending time with her friends, her sister, Victoria and her mom. Life is pretty great for her except she is trying to buy an excercise studio and is trying to get a loan.

Anna and Liam start out the cutest email relationship and I adored how they start and all their emails. They form a solid friendship. Both know each others full name but they are happy where they are and never google each other.

Eventually they realise they live in the same town and I loved how their relationship progresses. But Liam is not in the right place for a relationship and so he places them in the friendzone. This story asks the question, what would you do if you met the right person at the wrong time? And well it made for a wonderful story.

This is very much a slow burn type of story and I mostly adored it. But at a point I started to not like how Liam was treating Anna and I loved how she started spending time with Jesse. At a point I felt that Liam was not just hesitant but that he turned into a big scaredy cat and ran away from his feelings. Luckily this is only a small start of the story.

Aside from that. The story was awesome and I absolutely loved it. If you want a cute romcon or chick lit I think this was an awesome story with awesome characters.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from NETGALLERY prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a cute romance and I really liked the idea of getting to know someone and falling in love with who they are before they have really seen each other. I don't think the standard drama / issue arc was as in keeping with how the characters had been portrayed but ultimately it is a happy ending.
I did find it hard to relate to Anna as she was so intense with her fitness and health regime but it didnt detract from the story too much.

By Mist@ke by Sigal Ehrlich was a thoroughly enjoyable to read. Anna is a teacher at a studio, who is working on getting a loan to buy the studio from the current owner. She is only focused on her friends and work. Meanwhile, Liam is a trauma surgeon resident at a nearby hospital. He has no time for a relationship and he makes that clear with anyone he's involved with. His sole focus is on becoming a trauma surgeon, then the wife and kids can come.

Liam's accidental email to Anna starts a deep online connection. They think nothing of it, as there's no way they'll meet, right? Wrong. They later find out they happen to live in the same city (what luck!) and find out their connection transfers well from online to in-person. They fall for each other, hard .

This throws a wrench in Liam's life plans. How can he start a relationship when he's never around? But how can he let her go? After all, she is the One .

This was a very generic love story, which is why I only gave it 3 stars. Also, the beginning was a bit slow and Anna's friends irked me a bit. Overall, a quick read for lovers of romance!

I loved this book. Liam and Anna meet through an email he was sending to his friend but got sent to Anna by accident. They start communicating through email with each other and have a connection then progress to talking on the phone. They then realize they live in the same place and decide to meet. But despite there chemistry Liam doesn’t want a relationship while he is in his last year of medical school. It was a cute, funny, low angst story. I liked the side characters and am excited to read there stories.

When I read the blurb for this book I new it would be a book I would enjoy, it was easy to follow and enjoyed reading the exchange of emails. Liam and Anna start communicating through emails to eachother and when they talk on the phone their connection progresses. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Anna and Liam and was really routing for them to meet.

I loved the whole group of Anna and her friends and enjoyed how they are so close and call themselves the chickens in text messages And can’t wait for the next book in the poison and wine series.

This story is a very slow burn type of story and I totally adored it, it was a cute and funny and can’t wait to read more from this Author. This was my first time reading from this author and I can’t wait to discover more of her work.

I received this book via netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

This book was absolutely adorable. I am one of the biggest fans of any kind of correspondence inside of a book, whether it be letters, emails, texts, etc. This book had plenty of emails between the characters, as well as some texts, for people like me while still remaining true to the in person details for those that don’t prefer them.

The book starts with Liam making a typo in the email he’s sending and it ending up in Anna’s inbox, and Anna playing along just to be polite and let him know his email hadn’t gone where he wanted it. What ensues is the sweetest, and most lasting way for a couple to find out they are perfect one another – becoming friends first.

Through a series of interactions led on by their amazing chemistry, and perhaps a couple of dares from her friends, Anna and Liam showcase what happens when you find your perfect person, at the completely wrong time, and whether it is better to find the right time, or keep the perfect person through the wrong time so you don’t lose them when the right time finally comes around.

The series is set to be stand alone books inside a connected world, I’m guessing a book for each friend. I’m looking forward to them all – not only for their own stories, but for what I’m hoping are tidbits on the future of Liam and Anna.

This book was cute and sweet and utterly adorable. If you're on the fence as to whether get it and read it, do it. The concept was original, the characters were hysterical, rounded, and distinct, and the writing was smooth, compelling, and just over all, excellent. It's 1st person dual POV, so you get in Anna's head and in Liam's. I can't remember the last adult romance I read that was 1st person while switch POV and I actually really liked it.
Liam and Anna's exchanges were so cute at the beginning. I thought they'd wait a while to try and meet up, but they did that earlier than I expected and even that was great. I loved how the author very changed each of their minds very subtly - about each other and about life in general - as the story progressed. There was character growth that seemed natural, there was conflict resolution that felt healthy, and there wasn't a major "sorry I hurt you so badly but since we're OTP, who cares anyway?" kind of situations that I'm finding more and more in chick lit. Liam and Anna had great chemistry, flirty banter, and, at first, a slightly unusual relationship that just worked for them. The secondary characters were fabulous, and it looks like a few of them will be starring in their own novels later this year too.
This is a slower story, but don't let that fool or scare you: this is still absolutely a page turner.
On the one hand, I loved that Liam wasn't willing to completely give up his life's goals for a girl he'd essentially just met, BUT I wasn't the biggest fan of how he treated her in doing so. It moved the story along, and there wasn't anything specifically wrong with it. It's just as the reader I was like "gah! no. treat her better!!!" And I did love how Anna wasn't just pining away, waiting for him to come back and take him back immediately. I LOVED her confidence! How rare, I suddenly feel, to read a rom-com/chick lit, whatever you want to call it, where the main female is as confident as Anna was! To not take him back as soon as she first sees him again, to not take the money he offers to help her family out, to be the one who was so upfront and honest with her feelings of wanting more. I loved it!!!
This book is sweet and spicy, it is 100% worth your read. It's currently classified as New Adult, and I'm not sure that label fits given that Anna is almost 30. But also the content is definitely more Adult than New Adult. It is not a clean book - in fact, the amount and type of language had me wondering where the book was set for a good portion of the beginning, but then reading the author's bio at the end made a bit more sense of the mixings. This is a book that you have you wondering if you should respond to that African Prince who's emailing you about winning money. Don't respond to that. Just buy this book instead.

By Mist@ke by Sigal Ehrlich was very enjoyable to read.
Anna is a passionate fitness instructor in the process of taking over ownership of the studio she works at, which has always been a dream for her. Anna is extremely independent aside from her amazingly kooky group of friends. Liam, on the other hand, is a goal orientated Trauma Surgeon completing his residency, with a strict timeline when it comes to his career and relationships. One of Liam's main rules: I don't have time for a relationship, and nothing is going to change that until he's started a fellowship.

Liam is thrown for a loop when he accidentally sends an email meant for a long-time friend to Anna. Thanks to a "monthly challenge" put in place by Anna's group of friends, Anna replies to the email, and the two click immediately. Soon enough, Anna and Liam become each others main source of happiness, no matter how hard the day gets, which is no big deal, they're just harmless emails, both thinking nothing will happen. Everything changes when they realize they live in the same city. Upon meeting, they both realize that what was just an online connection is even more intense in-person. Liam and Anna both know they can't live without the other, their chemistry is simply too strong. What about Liam's career goals? No wife, no kids, not yet.

Fate steps in, and Liam has to decide what's more important; the life plan he's had for years, or the woman he knows is his end-all be-all?

Ehrlich captures readers in a story of undeniable love and unconditional friendship, You can't help but root for the quirky and relatable characters in this book. I can't wait to see what else she has in store as the Poison and Wine series continues.

All the warm fuzzies and unicorns are aligning in this delightful story about two people who happen together by mistake. A mis-addressed email to our do-good heroine ignites a flirty back and forth with the hot hero doctor. No β€œreturn to sender” for this missive.

Anna is an environmentally conscious nutritionist/Pilates instructor just hoping to get approved for a loan to buyout her boss’s workout studio – no time for a relationship. Minding her own business when she opens an email that was sent to her by mistake. She does the honorable thing and responds to let the sender know they need to re-send to the correct recipient. Enter our busy doctor Liam (yep, one of my fave male character names – Yum!) Liam has applied to Doctors without Borders while completing his hectic residence stint. He has some extremely strict pre-planned life rules – specifically β€œno romantic commitments until his residency is finished in a year.”

As they begin their back-and-forth correspondence, the flirtation is relatively harmless. You can flirt with abandon when you know you will never meet the person on the other side of the email. What ends up happening is they genuinely get to know each other. It is so easy to open up and be honest when you have no expectations of relationship drama. I adore Anna’s personality and confidence, but I will admit that I was slightly annoyed with Liam’s hard-headed β€œno commitment til I succeed” stance. But hey! You need to have imperfect characters in a story to really get into the nuance of what the author is writing about for our reading pleasure.

As we are getting to know Anna and Liam, we are given a treat in the secondary characters. Anna’s gal group the β€œChickens” all have unique personalities of their own. And what a fabulously supportive group of friends (including Anna’s sister Victoria). I am telling you – you will eat this book up in one afternoon and aspire to have the uncomplicated mindset that Anna radiates. Another bonus to the story is all the motivational quotes that both Anna and Liam sign off on their emails. My fave of those quotes: β€œDon’t tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon.”

The sweet slow-burn of this virtual β€œmeet cute” will have you searching your emails for that mistaken romance. The clear message our authorette Ms. Ehrlich succinctly conveys is that your career and your relationship happiness need to balance. Hard to truly have one without the other. This was my first book from Sigal Ehrlich which reads very well as a standalone. Now, I am impatiently awaiting her next installment – by Chance. Vicky and Ricky’s Poison and Wine hook up.

I was given this ARC by the author thru Netgalley for an honest review.

4.5 Stars

By Mistake was a feel-good, light with little angst story. After receiving an email from an unknown sender, Anna got intrigued. So, she replies, and there starts the flirty exchange between her and Liam. Two stranger who seems to hit it off wonderfully online. Will this undeniable chemistry continue on a face to face meeting?

This book is funny, romantic, and sexy (nothing explicit) with characters who will grow on you more as the story progress. It's a slow burn romance with a build from strangers to friends to lovers, perhaps? It's not the kind of romance that I'd read all the time but the author does a great job drawing me in with clever and witty dialogues. The writing style was engaging and the plot was well developed. If you're looking for a sweeter, lighter read you will definitely enjoy this playful, heartwarming story.

This was such a sweet and cute read. And I just love the idea of wrong number/sms/email type of romance.
Yes, it is not likely this thing to happen. From all the people on the world, Anna is the one who receives Liam's email, and she is his dream girl....
But let just say it is just pure luck. I love their conversation, you can just feel the attraction.
And after they meet, they are just a dream couple.
I get that Liam is 110% devoted to his job, and yes he needs to be, but I hate that he broke Anna's heart... But I am happy how this all went down.

I love that they grown as a couple. And I just can not wait for Vic's story. The sisterhood and friendship in this book is just great.
Goals.

I read this one in one sitting, and this really is just a good, sweet romance read. Not to hot, but not to PG 13, just right.

4 stars for me.

Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC.

By Mist@ke started really strong.

Anna and Liam are both strong people with life goals they want to meet. She wants to buy her own fitness studio and Liam is concluding his residency as a doctor and waiting for acceptance with Doctors without borders. When they are connected because Liam sends an e-mail to her address by accident, they strike up a friendship through e-mail, text and on the phone. Without even meeting. And when they do meet, there is chemistry all over the place. But Liam knows this is not the right time in his life for love - even when it seems more and more likely Anna is the ONE.

I liked both characters and we get both their POV in alternating chapters. We also have their friends as secondary characters. After the very strong start, the story did lag a bit for me. It seemed there were a lot of scenes with friends or family that were a bit extensive and wordy so I skimmed a bit. It might be because the author is setting up for the next books in the series, but I was actually just interested in Liam and Anna and not really in their friends and family.

But overall the story was quite adorable with strong leads who both communicated and tried to make their friendship and possible romance work. 4,5 stars rounded to 5.

Sigal Ehrlich’s writing style was a little hard to get used to at the beginning of this book. The chapters go back and forth between Anna and Liam and there’s so much stereotypical guy vs. girl language used that I wasn’t a huge fan of. The story also felt like it dragged on more than it should have and a little frustrating at times. Aside from all that, I thought the story was good and interesting - definitely something that fits within our digital age. A nice casual read but just missed the mark for me.

By Mistake is a lovely and well written romance with lots of humour and a great underlying story. Anna and Liam are brilliant characters, but I also really enjoyed Anna's friends and the relationship she has with her sister. I will definitely be reading more from Sigal!

This is a wonderful accidental online friends to lovers romance, it's been a while since I read about a character who is a doctor and that aspect of Liam's life is done extremely well.
Anna and Liam become friends accidentally over email, and fall for each other a time which is not very conducive for their relationship. The book touches upon the difficulties of focussing on high stress careers while wanting a relationship, but also about the importance of giving people a chance to be supportive instead of deciding for them.
I may not agree with all of Anna's dietary views, but her take on prioritising yourself and losing your self worth in the face of a partner who does not give their all to the relationship.
It's a fairly long book but every scene is enjoyable, and with purpose in the plot. Anna's life as a fitness trainer and entrepreneur, her wholesome friendship with other women, Liam's friendships, they are as important as the love story itself.
Definitely a book I'll find myself reading again.

Put your pjs on, get a blanket and a glass of wine and curl up for an evening with this brilliant book.
A nice light read about an unexpected romance and the importance of a great group of friends. I really enjoyed this book although it got emotional at times.

Β« You know how some people chill at coffee shops or parks. One of my favorite downtime places is the library. Where i can still be surrounded by people, yet, conversations and phones are hushed and my mind can unwind as it is immersed in book blurbs, musty-smelling hardcovers with worn spines, and my thoughts. Β»

Liam sent an e-mail to an old friend and it accidentally goes right into Anna’s inbox. She decides to write him back to let him know he has the wrong e-mail address and from there, a cyber friendship starts. The more they talk the more they feel connected to each other. At some point, they decide to meet in person and then it really gets interesting and also a bit complicated ! Liam doesn’t want a relationship and says it clearly on Day 1. He’s all about his work and doesn’t want to start something with someone and disappoint her later. He simply has no time for a relationship.

I love Anna’s character, she’s this sweet, independent girl and her friendship with the Β« chickens Β» is the best ! This group of friends is great and they all really care about one another !

The romance between the two main characters is quite adorable, their dialogues are often funny and you can feel that there is a real connection between these two ! I really enjoyed reading this book ! It’s a solid 4-star rating for me and i totally recommend it !

After mistakenly receiving an email from handsome Dr Liam meant for someone else, Anna jokingly replies to the email. This begins an email friendship until they decide to meet face to face. They both have career commitments that keep them from having a serious relationship, but when their feelings turn from friendship to romance, they have to decide whether to make it work or end it.
This was a unique story with a good character build up. I was getting as frustrated as Anna by Liam's reluctance to take things out of the friend zone! It's a cute and heartwarming story.
Thank you to Sigal Ehrlich for the opportunity to read this sweet romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The views and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This book was so unexpected. I’m usually such a pretty cover reader and while no doubt this book had a good cover, it just didn’t shout at me like some other covers do. The story though? I couldn’t have fallen more in love with it.

How could one twist of fate; one wrong email forward to the wrong person, a chance encounter & so much chemistry exist? The two main characters captured my heart in so many ways.. it had been so long since I’d been able to see myself in the female lead personality wise SO much. I love a storyline with a good group of female friends and guys, this one so delivered!!

β€œForgive me sister for I have sinned, it’s been... umm, ten minutes since my last confession.”

How could it get better than this?! A story where the female lead is a woman who has such strong bonds of friendship that had this been the main plot of the story, I STILL would have loved it and read it all in two sittings as I did with this one.

I was disappointed with the lack of epilogue (we all know me and my love of epilogues..) but with the promise of more stories within this world to come, I can’t wait for the next book!

This is my second 5 star read of 2021, it was outstanding.

I have to first say the meet cute is wonderful, and I love mixed up emails/ text message meetings. I have to say both characters are in their own ways sunshine, normally you get one grumpy but not here. The hero, Liam, is working through a lot and as hard has he tries I feel he still falls into the good guy territory. The chemistry between Anne and Liam is on fire, and the world building with the group of ladies makes you want to get to know each of them more. *hint hint, please write a book for each of them*

Not giving anything away, but the big situation that happens between Anne and Liam. Oh my gosh.. this completely happened between my best friend and myself a million years ago. Reading that chapter brought back so many memories, and even though I didn't my HEA with him, I really felt what Anna was going through. Please read this book, its amazing and you won't be upset that you picked it up.

I loved the dynamic between Anna and Liam. Their chemistry poured off the pages and I love a good romance where the lovebirds meet by accident online or through a text, so this was great.
The drama was just enough to keep things interesting and the makeup was bliss. These two were meant to be!
I’d recommend this HEA romance.

Email mixup, love growing through words, doctor, workout instructor.

I'd like to thank Netgalley, publishers and Sigal Ehrlich for allowing me to read this wonderful story.

Anna and Liam were an adorable couple, I love the trope of mistaken friends to lovers! Both Anna and Liam were wonderful on there own as well, both mature and driven people. I really enjoyed seeing a romabce where the characters don't sacrifice their drive and passions for the love of others.

However, I felt like the complication, of Liam leaving for 6 weeks didn't warrant that much of a rift between the two.

I can't tell you how much I need my own Chickens. A wonderful support system!

I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful, easy and unforgettable read! Perfect for anyone that wants their own Mc. Dreamy.

The love story between Liam and Anna will take your breath away. From a mistaken email address sprung first a meeting of the minds and later a meeting of the hearts.

What originally drew me to this story was the role of communication tech to stumble upon a person you might otherwise never meet. It isn’t limited to Liam and Anna’s romance. Her girl crew - The Chickens - conversations are often in text or conference calls.

I can see this girl group as a source if some really fun stories but Liam and Anna had to catch their relationship up with their fast growing feelings. From the start, the β€œI can’t do more than casual” label on their relationship was the source of many twists in the story.

While this would classify as a β€œslow burn” type of story, the feelings come through very early with some amazing writing by Sigal Ehrlich. The dialogue is fun, airy, real and inviting. BY MIST@KE has so many clever and enticing moments that you are not going to want to miss reading this book.

Between the countless hours, she spends teaching lessons at the fitness studio and with her friends (The Chickens) Anna doesn't have the time, energy or anything else to put into navigating yet another dating app. With The Chickens monthly goal to reply to all things in a positive manner, she opts to reply to an email that mistakenly landed in her inbox.

Liam is fully focused on getting through his residency and his application to Doctors Without Borders. Swearing off dating until his workload and life is more manageable, even casual relationships seem to go wrong so they are off the table too. Receiving a reply to the email he sent his friend, he is surprised to see that it ended up in the wrong inbox but the response makes him laugh.

Over the coming weeks, Liam and Ann email back and forth. Answering questions, chatting about their lives and sharing book quotes. Finally, they arrange to meet after Anna discovers that they live in the same city. They spend the day together and connect far more than either thought that they would. But Liam is upfront about the fact he isn't able to get into a relationship yet. Striking up a friendship between them, sharing the highs and lows of life together, occasionally kissing - but it's just friends... right?

One to make you laugh out loud, cringe and cry - so have the tissues at the ready.

A great read that supplied with a modern romance between goal oriented people. It had great chemistry between the two main characters, and didn't miss out on any drama, and sweet moments. The best place I can compare this novel to is a more realistic and more mature Dash and Lily (netflix series). If you loved the series you will love this book.

By Mistake is the first book in the Poison & Wine series by Sigal Ehrlich. When an accidental email starts a deep online connection, both Liam and Anna dive in with zero concern, because there’s really no harm in getting close to someone who you’ll never meet in real life, right?

By Mistake is a book that left me with mixed feelings. I loved the set up, the banter, and most of the characters. I thought the story had great potential, and that the friend groups for both Liam and Anna were interesting. I found myself greatly enamored of Anna and her friend group- particularly the level of honest they had with themselves and each other. I liked the conversations between Anna and Liam, and the way they got to know each other via e-mail and actually coming to care about each other as people first. I did find myself a little annoyed with Liam's friend group- even as he acknowledged the stereotypes and rude commentary in his head, he never really called them out and at the same time had some stereotypes that he applied the those around him as well. I did like that he took consent and protection seriously, but the fact that he was a busy man saving lives did not make him the golden child I think he was supposed to be. His 'teasing' Anna about her passion for eating clean and other things just rubbed me the wrong way. There were also time gaps, which is necessary sometimes, but it just felt like everyone was waiting for Liam to get his head together and ignoring their own needs/wants in the mean time. I liked the style and tone of the book, but I do not think I will be continuing the series even though the secondary characters were me favorite part of the story.

By Mistake is an amusing contemporary romance that I think will speak to other readers more than I.

Absolutely loved this book!! Can't wait for book #2!

When trauma surgeon resident, Dr. Liam Brody, sends an email to an old friend he hasn't kept in touch with, he accidentally sends it to fitness guru/yoga & Pilates trainer, Anna Nielsen instead. That one email starts a relationship that defies all others. The conversations they have via email are better than any relationships either one of them has ever had.

Not realizing that they both lived in the same city, he'd seen her out at his favorite bar and secretly crushed on her without even knowing who she was. When Anna recognizes someone (resembling a picture that Liam attached in his original email to his "friend") in the grocery store, she realizes that they might be neighbors and asks him where he lives. That leads to them finally meeting and ending upon the longest first date in history.

Liam doesn't have time to date, neither does Anna. She's in the process of buying the yoga studio she works at and he's going away for 6 weeks for a doctors without borders trip. But meeting "the one" is never really planned like you want it to be.

Can these two make a go with the time that they have? Or is Liam too set on his scheduled career path to allow love to sway him?

A must read!!

I received this book through NetGalley for an honest review.

I blew through this book. It was hard not to love the two characters. Liam and Anna both are looking for love because they both don’t feel like they have the time for it - Liam more than other as he is focused on his career as a trauma surgeon.

A mishap of a wrong email address sends these two into an unlikely bond. One that eventually leaves them both wanting to get to know the other more. And while their online chemistry is amazing once they meet in person it’s hard for them to resist - but they do.

A lot of things happen in their budding friendship and a lot of it had me smiling and giddy. The whole book just made me feel good from start to finish. And I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the crew at Poison and Wine.

For anyone who needs a feel good read that will have you aching for the kind of loving friendship these two share, I highly recommend.

A fun, straightforward book. The banter between the characters are fun, and had me laughing a lot. The build-up of the chemistry was not cheesy. I like the way the characters' chemistry progressed. Overall, it was a lighht, easy read. Perfect for relaxing after a stressful day, and you just want to turn off.

Wow!! This book is by far one of my top 10 romance books. I received an eARC thanks for NetGalley! It is the sweetest most perfect GAG until you turn blue love story. I was here for it. HEREπŸ‘πŸΌFORπŸ‘πŸΌITπŸ‘πŸΌ
It is the sweetest love story between Anna a fitness instructor and Liam a trauma surgeon. They start their love story via an email that went awry and then meet up for coffee and it’s just perfect. There’s trials and tribulations but you just need them to work out. I even got teary eyed at some points because both of the characters seemed soo genuine. It was just such a weird/great feeling to get from a book. The author did an amazing job making this seem like an actual real perfect love story without someone being a billionaire and someone being a damsel in distress. This author wrote this novel AMAZINGLY. I am going to be reading as much as I can from her!

A email meant for a friend ends up in someone else’s inbox sets Liam and Anna up to be unlikely pen pals. Liam is a surgeon without much time to spare and is very anti relationship until he has more time. Anna wants to find that guy that’s perfect for her.

They both have so much going on in life that there communications are the bright spot in the day. When discovering they live in the same town and may have passed each other things get interesting when it turns from emails to texts to calls to in person meeting.

This book was fun to read and a great romance! I loved Anna and her friends and Liam was a pretty decent character as well. Can’t wait for more in the series.

We meet Anna, who is a teacher at a studio, and Liam who is an ER doctor. The two meet by accident when Liam emails Anna thinking it's one of his friends. She being who she is responds and the conversations start from there. It's always nice to meet someone and get to know them without actually knowing who they are. Being online you can be more honest and themselves. I mean this really could have gone many different ways but for them it worked. They meet and the story continues.

Overall I really liked the characters, they were unique and interesting. Anna's best friends "the chickens" were also great. They are unique and very much ride or die for one another. The solidarity they have is remarkable and something many women strive for but never achieve because that kind of unconditional friendship is rare. Their conversations made everything more entertaining.

The love story between Liam and Anna was great, but I feel like I wanted more from them, more emotion. I don't want to give too much away but it felt too simple even though it was complicated if that can make sense to you. I would give this book a 3.5 if I could. The ending I thought was slightly lacking, it was just too easy. I will probably try and read the second book though because I want to know Anna's sister, Victoria's story line.

The premise was great, the characters were also fabulous for the most part. I just wanted a little bit more.

This is such an adorable romance novel. I love how intriquette the plot was! It spoke volumes when it came to understanding the characters fully.

This book truly ticked all the boxes for me and I'm HERE FOR IT. Meet cute via mistaken email. Slowly upgrading to text messages and phone calls before an in person introduction. The ultimate in slow-burn friends to lovers and dang were they cute throughout. While admittedly I wanted to slap one of them upside their head repeatedly for their hang-ups throughout the novel I appreciated how realistic it was. Because people in real life have real issues just like this and we all make mistakes and have to learn from them. This book was absolutely adorable and I'm absolutely looking forward to the next in this series. Totally recommend.

I've always been a fan of the letter/text/other forms of communication to get to know someone stories. An added plus was the ones between Anna and her sister/girlfriends. Definitely a slow burn, slow-paced romance. I will admit there were some places that seemed to drag with inner thoughts and/or details of life. It was a bit much in places and I did skim a little over these. Anna and Liam are great together as well as individually. Ended well and we also got some insight into the others and their stories.

"By Mistake" was a sweet story that started with an accidental email sent to the wrong person. Liam and Anna begin their digital friendships through emails that read like letters at times. A lost art nowadays. Their witty banter and clever comments provide the sweet quirky start to a relationship.
Anna and Liam share emails for a short time then FINALLY they meet or have they met before? One of the funny details is that Liam and Anna sign their emails with wicked funny sayings, that provide a lighthearted smile.
Liam has his insane schedule as an ER Surgeon that is in the process of waiting to hear back about his application to the Doctors without Borders. Anna is in the process of getting a loan to purchase her own yoga studio, so neither are in the right mindset for a real relationship. Anna's friends are interesting and relatable. (everyone has that one friend...) To see their relationship grow and to witness the struggle the characters go through is intriguing.
The writing style was charming with a well-developed plot. This is a stand-alone book in a series of novels, with Vicky and Ricky's story up next. I highly recommend this sweet read to anyone wanting a light romantic novel with the "fade to black" sex scenes - nothing explicit.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sigal Ehrlich for providing me with a digital ARC.

By mistake - Sigal Ehrlich
Plot - what happens when you send an email to the wrong person? Liam accidentally sends an email to Anna and what happens is a digital/online friendship which later become offline.
But what do you do when you meet "THE ONE" at the wrong time in your life?? Will Liam stick to his resolve ?? Will true love find it way?
My thoughts -
It was a super cute simple love story and was a quick read and a good choice esp when you want to read a light one then this one's perfect.
A slow burn romance with elements of healthy eating and fitness involved.
The idea behind the story was different which I liked but I felt it little lacking in some steam and spice..
But I would definitely be on the lookout for more books from this author!
Thank you Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a super adorable book! It was quick read and a nice escape from the crazy life for a little bit!
Anna and Liam meet unintentionally through email and get to know each other without having ever met face to face! Both of them are busy with their lives and careers and don’t want a relationship.... until they do! Their romance is definitely a slow burn! The chemistry between Anna and Liam was so good and I couldn’t wait for their relationship to get to the next step!

The book did drag at times, but all in all witty, fun, read and I will read again from this author!

I loved this book with all my heart! I was expecting some kind of clichΓ© like "I want but I can't" but turned out they really just COULDN'T. I love Liam and I hated how eco-friendly Anna could be sometimes, but like actual people, we can't expect to love everything about a fictional character. I truly want to continue reading about these two.

By Mistake (Poison & Wine, Book 1) by Sigal Ehrlich
Genre: New Adult | Romance
Publication Date: January 19, 2021

By Mistake is the first book in the new series Poison & Wine by Sigal Ehrlich. This is a cute standalone romance. I love the premise of accidentally meeting over email. So cute!

This was an enjoyable read with a great storyline and likable characters. I look forward to reading the next book, By Chance, which should be released in September 2021.

β€œBy mistake” is the first book in a series by Sigal Ehrlich.

Anna has a lot of things going on. The same goes for Liam, and they have both decided that relationships are off the record. They have friends, and they have jobs, which is what they have decided to prioritize. But things might change, when the two of them meet each other.

This is a slow and relaxing read. And it is a pretty cute story, so I am sure that you will enjoy it. It is a story of accidental relationships - what is not to like? Even if you do not like the characters, the storyline is cute enough, that you will like the book.

The characters are likeable, and they are well described in the book. Especially their development through the story, is what I enjoyed about them.

There are furthermore some hilarious parts of the book. This goes for the dialogue, other communication forms, as well as the storyline. It works out perfectly.

As the cover shows, this is also a book about the digital world. It is a very interesting take on the whole thing, and it works out pretty well. I like this new twist.

I am excited to see where Sigal Ehrlich takes the second book in the series.

I loved this one! It was a cute story, the characters were entertaining, and I flew through it once I started reading. I sort of wanted to punch Liam in the throat because he was being stubborn and he reminded me of another man in my own life, but once he got it together he was 100% book boyfriend material. I look forward to the next one in this series.

I loved loved loved this! This is exactly the type of story I'm looking for when reading New Adult romance. It was fluffy and cozy and sweet with realistic, relatable characters and I immensely enjoyed reading it.

The premise is so adorable and was executed so well. I love that the romance started off through a mistaken e-mail, allowing the pair to get to know each other simply for who they are rather than physical attraction, and how their relationship translated almost effortlessly to off screen. The chemistry between Anna and Liam was crazy and I definitely found myself smiling at my e-reader screen while reading more than once. I loved both of their senses of humor!

Anna is such a great character, especially for the New Adult world. She has the perfect balance between pursuing her goals while not quite having everything figured out yet as well as being confident while also still being hesitant at times. Her easygoing nature was a favorite part of the book for me as well as the fact that she wasn't too overly emotional but wasn't afraid to put her heart out there. Liam was an amazing love interest! I love that him being a doctor felt more like his job instead of his Only Defining Quality like it so often comes across in books. His openness and honesty made him so endearing and it's easy to see why Anna fell for him when he had such a good heart. The romance was so sweet and had a great maturity to it with the characters able to communicate like actual adults rather than dragging out misunderstandings. It was so refreshing to read!

Anna's friends were a great addition to the book. I loved reading their group chats and their interactions with each other. They truly each had their own personality and voice and you could even feel the differences in how the 3 interacted who knew each other longer and better compared to how they were still bringing their 4th friend in. I also adored the Panda and "Jonathan" romance subplot. It was so funny to see how it developed and I have to admit I was more invested in it than I thought I'd be.

Overall, this is a great New Adult romance read. It fits the niche perfectly while having a great premise with interesting, relatable characters who actually read as their age. I can't wait to see where the series goes with the two spin-offs featuring other characters in this installment. I'll definitely be picking them up as they become available!

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

By Mistake was a such a fun book to dive into! In it, you will meet Anna and Liam. How they met was all kinds of awkward mixed with some adorableness. It all started with a random ass email. Now at this moment, I started to develop the 'You've Got Mail' vibes and I was here for it all. Why? Well, they were complete cute flirting via email. It was also pretty impressive that they didn't google search one another the entire time. My fingers would've been itching to do so.

Of course, these two had drama but the chemistry was there. Also, some lovely tension and bantering going on as well. They were also surrounded by amazing side characters. I laughed so much with the chicken girls and his friends. They were all equally hilarious and I'm so glad that we finally got to meet little shit!

In the end, this was all kinds of adorable and a very cute romance to fall in love with. If I ever cross paths with the second book, I will definitely dive into that book just to see who else is going to fall in love within this group of awesome friends. Also, can a wine place actually open and be called Poison and Wine? Or a bar? PLEASE!

I really enjoyed By Mistake by Sigal Ehrlich. I have not read anything else by her and discovered her after getting an ARC of this book by Netgalley. I absolutely loved the story line with the gals and their chickens group and how close knit they all are. What's great is that back before Facebook and other mainstream social media, email was definitely the way to communicate and it is very well possible that emails with one letter off in an email address make it to an entirely different recipient. I loved Anna and Liams story and the realistic journey they went through together. I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy romance or even 'chicklit'. It has a few 'steamy' scenes but none that give second hand embarrassment to the reader 🀣
