Mr Bagpan takes pride in his garden and looks forward to eating the tasty food he has grown, but a group of pesky animals steal the vegetables before he can pick it. He tries everything to stop the critters, without any luck. Will he come up with a way to keep them away?

A lovely little story full of cute animals and lots of laughs. The pictures are great. I loved the ending too! Recommended!!

I adored this book! It has beautiful graphics and a wonderful story about a gardener called Mr Bagban who has lots of animals coming into his garden to eat his fruit and vegetables. He tries everything to protect his plants, but the animals always find a way into his garden to steal his food. He gets so angry that he stops growing his food, then the animals surprise him with some help. This inspires him to come up with a plan which will keep the animals happy and allow him to enjoy his fruit and vegetables again. My daughter and I loved this book and we thought it was really interesting and fun. I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed this story! I've never minded neighborhood critters stealing my veggies. I plant enough to share, too! My neighbors complain about deer and other wildlife raiding their gardens. I encourage them to plant extra and share! it does work, to a degree! Good lesson in this story. I enjoyed the illustrations of the animals; too funny! I think it would make a nice spring story about gardening with littles. Plant some seeds with them after!

I sat down tonight with my 4 year old son to read this book. My little boy enjoyed it from the start and soon compared it to Peter Rabbit which he loves!
It was nice to have animals like chipmunks in there which we don't see in England so that was a great discussion point. My little boy liked to guess what would happen next and loved how there was a happy ending. He commented on how kind Mr Bagban was. We really enjoyed reading this story together!

Farmer Bagban spends a long time preparing for the harvest but every time he goes to gather his produce, some other critter has got there first. What's the solution? He doesn't want a lost harvest a second year in a row.

I enjoyed this children's fiction aimed at around 5-8 year olds. It gave us a chance to look at some lovable creatures that could also be great pests and problem-solving in a way where everyone wins. The story is sweet and maps out a way of sharing that is understandable for its young audience. The illustrations help tell the story in their bright accompanying frames.

A great book for home or school. 5/5.

wow, what a kind story. As the gardener's woes began to be related to each animal, I was reminded of many gardener's plight when pomegranates were eaten by birds or jasmine flowers had by the goat. Then ofcourse the gardeners will resort to the scarecrow, fence antics but animals are smarter than that with their burrowing skills.
What comes after is unexpected. It was sad to see Mr.Bagban's plate with no vegetables. The gardener gives up and now the animals become the givers. Then I thought, there might be a middle way but how do you communicate that to the animals. Mr.Bagban found that. Do you want to know how they all got along?

I read this story with my 6 year old and we both enjoyed it very much! I felt this was a sweet story about being kind and sharing the good things that we have. There are humorous parts to the story as well, that I feel most people with a garden could somewhat relate to. The pictures were great and went along wonderfully with the story.
