'
Delightful and witty with a heroine you'll be rooting for . . . joyful escapism' Milly Johnson

'Spirited, adventurous and full of heart!' Heidi Swain

Although thirty-three-year-old Kara Moon loves her hometown of Hartmouth in Cornwall, she has always wondered if she should have followed her dream of going off to study floristry. But she couldn't bring herself to abandon her emotionally delicate single father, and has worked on Ferry Lane Market's flower stall ever since leaving school.

When her good-for-nothing boyfriend cheats on her and steals her life savings, she finally dumps him and rents out her spare room as an Airbnb. Gossip flies around the town as Kara welcomes a series of foreign guests to her flat overlooking the estuary.

Then an anonymous postcard arrives, along with a plane ticket to New York. And there begins the first of three trips of a lifetime, during which she will learn important lessons about herself, her life and what she wants from it - and perhaps find love along the way.

I loved the Cockleberry Bay books, so I knew I'd love this, the first in a new series by Nicola. The perfect escapism to brighten up your day! Loveable characters, humour, romance & a tinge of sadness, all made for another fab read & I'm looking forward to reading more of this series. Kara Moon (33) lives in the Cornish village of Hartmouth with her unemployed partner Jago, her cat James Bond & Sid Vicious the terrapin. Working on the flower stall at the market to make ends meet, she often wonders if she should have followed her dreams; a broken relationship & the death of her beloved Grandfather later, she receives a postcard, along with a ticket to New York. Will she go & just who is her mystery benefactor?🗽 Many thanks to Netgalley for my ARC in return for my honest review. 𝗜 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮 5 ⭐ 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

Wow what a fantastic start to a new series. Love the fantastic warm way Nicola writes about her communities in her family saga books. This books looks at new characters and a new destination. Very well written and cannot wait for my next Cornish adventure instalment. Highly recommended read

What a wonderful story of Kara who puts everyone before herself. Unfortunately others do not treat her as well., until one day a postcard arrives inviting her to America. She has no idea who the invite is from but over 3 weeks she begins to realise she is loved and also that she loves herself. I loved the relationship of her grandad and Bert, but be warned to have the tissues handy. Cannot wait for the next book

There is a saying that goes something like this: No one is going to come along and save you, you need to save yourself. That applies to the main character in this book. She is such a sweetheart and always ready to help everyone around her, but she puts herself at a low priority. After eight years in a relationship that was not good for her, she finally breaks it off. That leads to a new life full of adventures she never would have thought she would experience. This was the first book I have read by Nicola May, but it certainly will not be the last! I enjoyed her writing style so much. Her character development is amazing and I feel like I know the people in this story so well. She created a unique plot that was a page turner. I am thrilled that this is the beginning of a new series. I will be reading her other books in the future. I know they will be wonderful from my experience with Welcome to Ferry Lane Market! I want to thank NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for giving me the pleasure of reading the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

Nicola may is a new author for me so I was excited to read Welcome to ferry lane market and I was interested, enthralled and eager to read straight from the first chapter! This book is pure unadulterated escapism! Set in an idyllic Cornish village of Hartmouth, we meet Kara and her waste of space boyfriend Jago, along with her lovable grandfather, somber father, best friend and others! Great characters and a real sense of community abound! After breaking up with her boyfriend and the death of her wonderful wise grandfather, Karas life changes she starts taking in Airbnb bookings and receives a mysterious postcard and tickets to New York! Kara embarks upon her voyage of discovery directed by postcards, travelling, sightseeing, shopping, and new experiences mixed with lots of soul searching and ultimately a while new outlook on life, love and work! A real heartwarming enchanting read that I would highly recommend! Can’t wait for book 2 so excited to see what happens next! Thank you netgalley for this early read.

I really loved this book by Nicola May, and thank Netgalley and the publisher for my preview copy. I shall definitely buy the follow up novel . The characters of Ferry Lane are fabulous, very real and each with their own idiosyncrasies, before I even got anywhere near the end of the book I really did feel that I knew them. It was a joy to read, and as I’m convalescing after a mild heart attack I did so in one day. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an uncomplicated enjoyable read.

This has everything you need from a fun summer read! An entertaining cast of characters, a plucky heroine, a dash of intrigue and all set in a pretty Cornish village - what more could you want?

A lovely story. Jago was not a nice man. I lived the description of the market and you wanted to live in Hartmouth. The views of the ferry you could imagine. I loved Pearl and how she met Kara's father. Kara's grandfather was a character and I loved how he became a silver surfer. Billy was amazing and loyal and as for Jen Kara's she came good in a lovely way. Won't spoil it. A great relaxing and feel good read

This was my first book by Nicola May but certainly won't be my last as it was a great start to what, I'm sure, will be a great new series. We're taken straight to the Cornish village of Hartmouth where the Ferry Lane market has always played a large part in Kara Moon's life. But things need to change and these changes start with a good, belated, kicking out of bad boy, cheating Jago, and Kara's next move in renting out the spare room in her flat via Air BnB. The whole journey Kara then takes is jolly and pretty upbeat if, at times, a somewhat emotional one. May writes with a great sense of understanding of her characters, and she directs Kara along, knowing just where she wants her to go and how she's going to end up getting there. As such, the story fairly rockets along at a great pace with a more than satisfactory ending. Kara's story and her search for a different life and love, as well as the identity of the air ticket sent anonymously, had me awake into the early hours wanting to know If the secret donor was who I thought! May certainly knows how to hook her reader and keep her reading to the end. There’s a great sense of community within this one book – surely what we all need after the year we’ve been through. It’s a great plot, beautifully told and, as it’s the first of a new series, there’s more to look forward to. The beauty of the story is one of hope and good things coming to those who deserve them. A super summer read for the beach - and anywhere else you can find to put your feet up. This certainly won’t be my last Nicola May read. Five big fat sparkling stars for this one! Welcome to Ferry Lane Market is the first in a new series by this author and it doesn’t disappoint. Cheated on by her boyfriend and taken advantage of by her boss, Kara Moon is stuck in a bit of a rut. When gifted the trip of a lifetime, Kara will have to step outside her comfort zone. As she travels across the globe, she discovers that what she really wants is right on her own doorstep. A fabulous lighthearted story with a great mix of characters. A thoroughly enjoyable entertaining read. I look forward to the next one in the series.

First time reading from this author and I can 100% say I was not disappointed, i loved it. Loved the characters and the storyline had me hooked, was desperate to figure out who had organised Kara's amazing trip, every guess I had was wrong. A lovely story of friendship and community spirit with romance and sadly grief as well, a little bit of everything a reader would like with a touch of mystery too. (You may need tissues at some point) So glad to.see there is a follow up book which I now can't wait to read, can't wait to get back to the characters and the wonderful ferry lane market. Would rate the book higher than a five if I could.

Hopefully the 1st book in a new series about the people of Ferry Lane in the town of Hartmouth in Cornwall. This book centres around Kara Moon who lives on the lane and works at the local florist market stall; in fact she has worked there since leaving school and gave up the opportunity to study floristry at college due to her mother leaving her, her sister and her dad. She has a rogue of a boyfriend, who she finds out is cheating on her and has taken all of her hard earned savings. She kicks him out and starts to rebuild her life. She needs extra income and so she rents out her spare room to visitors to the town as a Airbnb. Her flat is in an idyllic location, with a balcony overlooking the bay.. She has some very interesting foreign guests, which helps to keep her busy and stop thinking about her ex boyfriend who she misses but realises she is well rid of him. She is very put upon by her employer, the flower stall owner and one day she has had enough and quits her job. Just when she is feeling low, worrying about how to make ends meet, she receives a postcard, with a plane ticket to New York. She jets off to New York, then follows 2 more trips of a lifetime and she learns a lot about herself, life, bereavement and hope and trust in herself. This is a great read, Kara Moon a great character and she finds love has been waiting for her all the time and she finally grasps it.

Absolutely brilliant. First time that I have read Nicola May and this is the first in a new series. I will definitely be reading more from her. This is all about family and friendship and the different relationships within. All starts in a small town in Cornwall, ending with a trip of a lifetime and a mystery to solve as to who has sent Kara on this trip. The story ends up back in Cornwall with Kara having discovered herself and what she wants. I could not put this down and can’t wait for the next instalment. #FerryLaneMarket #NetGalley #GoodReads
