Chloe’s boss, the city council member for District 5 in San Pacitas, lost his seat in an election everyone predicted he would win. Her new boss, Jaxson Bennett, is a brash, sexy ex-tech mogul turned politician and a new rising political star.
She dated Jaxson in school where they fell hopelessly in love, but she hasn’t seen him since college when he dumped her after the one night they made love. Reunions can be a bitch. Contemporary, triangle work romance. Steamy, sexy and fun.
This is book 1 of a 2 book mini-series within the Love@work series.

A fast, sexy read, Work Spouse was a great palate cleanser! My only complaint is the cliffhanger at the end, I need to know who she chooses!!

It is a fast fun read. I will say I didn’t know it was a part one of two so the cliffhanger got to me but it was a good story and I can’t wait to see what happens in part two.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
I couldn’t put this book down and was pulling for one person in particular for Chloe to choose.
I will definitely be following up with the next book in the series.

I have been going through a NetGalley slump. I've been picking up a lot of losers that have been doing nothing for me, such as, rough starts that don't bring me in, no character chemistry, fiction that feels forced. While there are some parts of this story that feel forced, I happily went along with what this author was serving. I am surprised this book was labeled erotica as I didn't think there was anything really spicy happening here that I wouldn't get from plenty of other romance novels.
As someone that works/lives in Silicon Valley, I was really excited to read this over the weekend. Was completely enjoying this and hated walking away. I look forward to what happens next.

Chloe has worked for a respected Councilman for a number of years. In the election, he is unexpectedly beaten by a young wealthy businessman, Jax. Jax happens to be someone that Chloe dated in college. He broke up and left her and she was heartbroken. She is still in love with him and feels sparks the first time they are together. Jax is a businessman and is not familiar with how government offices work. He alienates the staff by trying to run it like a business. Jax takes Chloe away from the office to develop a business relationship with her and they end up in a hotel room together. She realizes that she needs to leave the position as she can’t be his right hand working for him everyday and be in love with him. He had told her that they can’t be in a relationship if he is her boss. She is bribed by the mayor to stay on in this position. This was a fun short read however the reader is left hanging to know what happens as the story concludes in the next book.

Behind every great man / woman is a wo/man. Or a Personal Assistant. Or a Spouse (at work). One that takes on all those pesky tasks that the great wo/man has not time for - booking dentist's appointments; taking the dog for a walk; buying presents for whomever; organising travel and accommodation; keeping the paperwork and meetings straight and ensuring that the diary slots in time for golf (or..); writing the memos they can't be bothered with. And so it goes on. some tasks are menial. Some are not. It all depends on the day - and the boss. But greatness requires that there be such a factotum operating behind the scenes. Smoothing their life to permit the greatness to shine.
And so we see here.
Only that was not the intended job for our heroine. She was really qualified for better and more - except that her certification didn't show it. So she needed to show it by performance. And so she did.
This a variation on the boss and the secretary theme of romance tropes and works well. The writing style is lively and judged nicely to fit with the trope. I enjoyed as a variation on the theme.
