Haint Blue: A Tipsy Collins Novel

In these books (Charleston Green and this one, its sequel) I love how the setting of South Carolina is brought out front to take center stage. Especially when Tipsy is taken back in time to when the ghosts were "alive," you can really feel the Southern atmosphere. I loved John and Ivy and of course Henry. Besides the descriptions of the setting, I loved the art scenes, especially the descriptions of Tipsy's art. The cherry on top of everything was the picture-perfect ending, with Henry and Tipsy -- a very hopeful ending.

I hadn’t read the first book in this series, but I didn’t let that stop me from reading this one. I am very happy to say I didn’t need to have read the first in this series to really enjoy this one. I at first thought this was a paranormal cozy, but this book is so much more. It’s an exploration of a woman learning to live a life on her own after a divorce and navigating the perils of finding someone to share her life with…or not. While doing that, she solves mysteries of those who have passed on and need her help to make it to the next stage of death. I wasn’t sure I was going to like this since it wasn’t strictly a cozy paranormal, but the author was so great at making me care about Tipsy, I felt like she was an old friend by the end. This was a great book with excellent writing, and I will definitely read the next which I hope will come. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This was my first foray into the Tipsy Collins mysteries and I am hooked! I don't usually go for ghostly stories but I loved the ghosts as much as the living characters in this story.

While the setting was definitely drool-worthy, I enjoyed the characters so much I kept flipping pages to see how everything would resolve for them. And Tipsy is definitely a lady after my own heart and the crowning achievement of the book. So many books skimp on character development but we get to see Tipsy in all of her flawed glory, trying her best to put her post-divorce life back together while helping the ghosts around her move on. Her growth by the end of the book was immensely satisfying.

Haint Blue: A Tipsy Collins Novel is the second in the Tipsy Collins Seriesby Stephanie Alexander. Tipsy returns with even more turmoil in her personal life. I love that this series paints such a vivid picture of Mount Pleasant and the Charleston area of South Carolina. The sense of place is so clear that I can almost feel the humidity and see the shoreline as I read this series. The glimpses of the past are intriguing and capture the essence of those bygone periods. The characters feel like real people - even the ones that I don’t like! This is definitely a series that I will continue to follow. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.)

Tipsy as a main character is flawed and someone you really care and feel for. It is great to see her grow and stand on her own two feet. The book is filled with heartwarming moments and set against an atmospheric South Carolina backdrop both in the past and in the present. I cried quite a few tears.

Tipsy Collins has found a new commission to paint and has been given a huge offer to help the woman remove the ghost of her grandmother from her cottage. While Tipsy is thrilled at the opportunity to make some serious cash that will help her pay the bills as a single mother of three, she didn’t plan on her life seeming to crash down all around her at once.

When Tipsy make contact with the ghost, she finds there are two other ghosts she needs to also help cross over in order to deliver on the agreement. Luckily Tipsy isn’t only a talented artists, she’s also experienced in dealing with ghosts and will do her best to help answer the questions that have left them hanging around for so long. She also didn’t plan on getting to know and like the trio of past residents, but her heart is in the right place and she’s committed to doing right by them.

The second book in this series, it is the first I have read and there was no disconnect. I rather enjoyed the story and the protagonist and enjoy strong female characters like Tipsy. Looking forward to reading the first entry and the third installment.

This is a great mystery series! I love books set in the south and this one was really well done. The book does a great job bringing that southern setting into the story throughout the book. It is the second book in the series but I didn't feel like I was missing out on too much by not having read the first one. The main character of this one is what really made the book. She is a strong woman dealing with a divorce and becoming a single mom. Although this book is a cozy mystery, it was also a lot more than that and was really well done.

This is the second book of a series - I haven't read Charleston Green, but had no problem following the characters in Haint Blue. I would like to go back and read the first book now.

Tipsy sees ghosts, helps them cross over. An interesting character - and oh wow does she have a whole lot going on otherwise, too! Two kids, some crazy friends, an ex hubby that seems undependable, a boyfriend that isn't into commitments and more. Lots going on, so the story keeps moving. It was a fun read!

Haint Blue is a story set in the island towns in South Carolina. Tipsy Collins is a divorced single mom that is rebuilding her artistic career. She is co-parenting her 3 children with her ornery ex-husband. She has been dating Will, a single Dad with kids that are friends with her kids. She had hoped that he was Mr. Right but they break up after realizing that the relationship is just not working. Tipsy is one of those Southerners that have an ability to talk with the dead. She regularly gets advice from her dead grandmother and has become a dear friend with Henry Mott, another dead soul that is inhabiting her house. Tipsy receives a much needed financial offer. Pamella Brewton will pay Tipsy big bucks if she can figure out how to free her moody, volatile Meemaw from her house, As Tipsy is greatly in need of money, she accepts Pamella's offer. She engages Henry to help her solve Ivy More's mystery. While dealing with the frustrations of her life, she works hard on solving the mystery. She talks to a number of ghosts that are still hanging out on Sullivan's Island and learns the answers to a lot of questions. This is a very interesting story that I highly recommend.

I truly enjoyed reading this book! The characters flowed from this authors first book throughout Haint Blue and her descriptions of the beautiful Charleston area makes me feel like I am right there. Looking forward to more adventures of Ms. Tipsy Collins!

Quaint sequel with endearing characters that already established themselves as endearing to this fan. I appreciate the Murder mystery genre too.

Summary
We returned to another murder mystery adventure with Tipsy Collins in Haint Blue! We last saw Tipsy happily in love with Will and satisfied with solving the murder of Jane and Henry, not even Ayers her ex-husband is a problem anymore. We head back into her life one year later and her relationship with Will doesn't seem so promising anymore, Ayers is in another relationship and she has another tragic murder mystery to solve. She gets dragged back into this world of murder and ghosts. But in the process of solving this mystery will she be able to solve her life and make it what she wants it to be.


Cons:
If you've just gone through a divorce or breakup this book may be a little bit triggering. It goes into the nitty-gritty of emotional messiness that either one of those things brings. Which happens more so in this book than in the first book Charleston green. The book doesn't have the stereotypical happy ending, which may be a little disappointing. But it does give you hope for the Next Book. That being said, that doesn't mean it's not a happy ending.

Pros:
The murder mystery that Tipsy is trying to solve this round is absolutely phenomenal. The writer has really put a lot of effort into the story. And has really surprised me with the route that she went at the very end. The characters of ivy, John, and Camden were so well-written that they had a personality on their own without them having to have some flamboyant personality to really see who they were. The love that Ivy has for her long-lost love is encouraging especially for those of us who have a very jaded and bitter heart. Henry's character is even better in the second book, this time he is Tipsy sidekick. He's more of a confidant and best friend. Tipsy learns how to stick up for herself and grows as a person in a way that can only happen through heartache and strife.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Because the book never leaves you bored, you're always wanting to know what happens next. It's one of those books that you just can't put down.

Recommended Audience
I recommend this book for anybody who loves a good murder mystery with a touch of ghost and Forbidden Love. And the struggles of trying to have a normal life after a heartbreak.

I love the character of Tipsy. The mystery in this one is so well fleshed out it keeps you engaged. The relationship stuff is more involved than the first book. It's good for the most part but not so sure about how things are left. I definitely will be reading the next one.

Haint Blue: A Tipsy Collins Novel by Stephanie Alexander is a fun and intriguing book! Tipsy Collins can see dead people. It is a gift that has passed down through generations of women in her family. She has learned to be careful and not make eye contact with the spirits that seem to cross her path and expect her to help them.
I loved the main characters and the problems Tipsy had trying to wrangle the roaming spirits and convince them it is time for them to go on to their next life. The murder mystery takes place in a previous generation and is a very tangled web of deceptions and lies.

Dear Tipsy Collins is still a struggling Mum of three, juggling the pressures of making enough money to support her children, trying to deal with her selfish ex and her boyfriend who doesn't seem to know what he wants and ghosts, sorry did I mention she can talk and see ghosts, and without really wanting she gets asked to deal with a angry ghost which then becomes a very complicated love triangle.
I like the character Tipsy but I do wish she could get a bit of luck, it seems so mean that she is left to struggle on whilst her ex berrates her and blames her for everything (although I know how she feels my ex was a manchild as well)

I loved this book - a great blend of life changes, navigating new experiences, resolving mysteries across generations and helping people move on with a bit of art and supernatural skills!

Tipsy - who chooses that nickname? - is a beautiful, newly divorced mom of three kids under the age of 10. She's an up and coming painter with two supportive close friends. She's also able to see and speak to ghosts. Her Granna is a permanent resident in her head. Her roomie is a 100 plus year old ghost. Pretty normal, right?

Tipsy's boyfriend breaks up with her right after he tells a wealthy client, Pamela, that Tipsy can help her Meehan move on.

Tipsy accepts the offer of $50,000 to help MeeMaw move on as well as paint a portrait.

Along the way, Tipsey finds unexpected mysteries surrounding the deaths of MeeMaw, Pammela's husband and Pammela's grandfather that are keeping them from moving on.

She finds that her decades old friendships aren't as secure as she thought and need serious work.

The is a many layered plot. My biggest issue with the book is it is not clear if Tipsy's children are even remotely aware of Tipsy's psychic skills.

I look forward to reading more about Tipsy.

Haint Blue by Stephanie Alexander is the 2nd book in the Tipsy Collins mystery series, and another great book. Tipsy is a reluctant clairvoyant, who has worked hard to avoid dead people. After Tipsy gets a divorce, her three children and her move to a house on Bennett Street, where there is one ghost in the house, that Tipsy considers a friend. Tipsy gets hired by Pamella Brown to investigate and get ride of her grandmother who is haunting her home. Tipsy really needs the money so she agrees. What a great story, Tipsy is determined to find out what really happened so she can move on. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Haint Blue was everything I hoped for and then some! In this second book of the Tipsy Collins series, Tipsy has to put up with quite a lot: her ex husband Ayers' blissful relationship leading up to a wedding, her ex boyfriend Will and his pathetic lies, the usual Charleston gossiping, her rental home that she might have to move out of, and more. Thank heavens that her ghostly friend Henry is now literally her roommate and he is always there for her, as well as her Granna who she can still hear in her thoughts (and Granna is always on point with her advice and instincts). But most importantly, Pamella Brewton asks her to draw a painting and exorcise her house because she has a feeling her Meemaw Ivy is haunting it. If Tipsy can provide both services, she will cash $50K.

The ghost story of Ivy More, John Huger, and Camden Brewton was fantastic, yet so tragic. Since Charleston Green, Tipsy is now more in control of her power and her visions are delight to get to. I so enjoyed the intricacy of this love triangle, and it is quite a feat to write about a ghost love story and make it believable. Stephanie Alexander is a genius and I thank her so much for having brought Tipsy Collins into my life. I cannot WAIT for #3 to come out! It is now time for Tipsy to find her happily-ever-after!

A wonderful story of women struggles with romantic relationships that fail, go through life after a breakup, the many difficulties a woman faces after a breakup or a divorce, being back on the scene, go through life as a clairvoyant, friendships, family, and very well rounded book and that something for everyone.

Thank you for allowing me to read this on Net Galley. I enjoyed my first Tipsy Collins novel. Loved the characters and of course anything set in Charleston is a favorite. I have not read the first novel in the series so I'll go back and read. We see Tipsy’s vulnerabilities and how she’s truly coping and adjusting to newly divorced life. I recommend this to anyone who loves a mystery and great character development.

I am very picky when it comes to fiction and I usually find the cosy genre a bit too cutesy, but despite these reservations, I really enjoyed Haint Blue. The setting felt was so vivid, the main character was a warm, strong and wise woman and the ghosts, well, although I don't believe in ghosts either, that did not deter. A warm, wonderful tale about love and hope in this life and beyond. These days it is rare to find a book that is positive and uplifting and this one fills the bill.

This series is charming. The most accurate way to describe it is a Coastal, Southern ghost story/cozy mystery. I am loving it.

Let's talk about Haint Blue for a minute. In my opinion this title was very long. Very, very long. I am use to my cozies setting the scene, meet the characters, someone gets murdered and then the protagonist solves the murder. That is the case in Haint Blue. You do however, have much more to unpack, therefore, more time with the story and of course the characters. When I read the authors notes at the end...I completely see what Stephanie was doing. Just go in knowing. There are several moving pieces to this particular story. Having said all that....am I invested in Tipsy? Yes, yes I am. I am all ready for book 3!

This is a series I would insist you read from the beginning. Charleston Green (book 1) paves the way to move into book 2.

Sometimes the right book find you and not the other way round. That's what happened to me with Haint Blue by Stephanie Alexander, I chose it among others for the beautiful cover, without even reading the blurb, and I tell you it was amazing I’ve devoured it so quickly for a big book like that.

This is the second book in the series but if you, like me, didn't have read the previous one don't worry because it could be read as a standalone.

Tipsy Collins is a gifted painter, single mom of three and a paranormal sleuth. She can see ghosts and she can help them to solve their unfinished business in order to send them in the after life, whatever that enteils.

In this story Tipsy has to work for Pamella who has a furious grandmother, Ivy, that haunts her house. It won't be an easy job because Ivy's life and death have some shadows and intrigues to clear up.

It was a delight to follow Tipsy in this adventure, but the most fascinating thing is her messy personal life that mesh up perfectly with her artistic and paranormal life. I'd like to be her friend so we can share our catastrofic relationships' war stories.

I love this series, Tipsy Collins. This is book 2 and Tipsy and her three young children have solved the mystery of the haunted house where they moved during the divorce. Now that the house is no longer haunted the owner wants to charge her rent which she can't afford. When a wealthy woman offers her a large fee for getting her evil grandmother out of her childhood home, Tipsy agrees and is soon dealing with three murdered ghosts who can't move on. Well written and an interesting setting this series is a winner and I can wait for the next installment. Don't miss book 1, Charleston Green.
