A god in a Human Body

I love such poetry collections!

It's uplifting.
It's hard-hitting.
It makes a lot of sense.
It teaches me something new.
It makes me feel something new, things that I have taken for granted.

I love how this collection talks about faith, violence and what weuplifting one another, women empowerment and celebrating our lives.

Some expressions didn't click well with me.

Overall, a good refreshing read.

Reviewing poetry collections is often so difficult because poetry is so personal.

To describe what this collection is about would be doing it a disservice but I can describe what it made me feel which was powerful and divine. It explored the nature of mortality and spirituality in a way that I was able to connect with deeply and understand.

Despite this, there were a few poems, mainly covering feminism that I had to read over to understand the full meaning. I also had an issue with the order, I think these two points paired together made the reading experience flow less for me.

My personal favourites were "solemn" and " portrait of a goddess". Each made me feel two completely different feelings but I relate and I think that's what made me enjoy them so much.

Overall, I would recommend this as something short yet meaningful.

This collection is a great collection of work. I originally rated it 3.5 stars and rounded up for a few reasons. As an Female that can and will always be labeled African American in the States (and probably everywhere else in the world once I speak) I can wholeheartedly appreciate this collection of thoughts 💭 Especially when expressed by a Black Man. #ProtectBlackWomen

I initially gave it 3.5 stars because after reading the description of the collection on NetGalley I thought we were about to explore more of the idea behind us being eternal beings living out an experience in mortal bodies. While this collection sort of touched on that idea it also more often than not kept us in the minds of mortals rather than in part of our minds (spiritually speaking) that is eternal.

Nonetheless, I figured maybe I was expecting too much and rounded up to 4 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Because #BlackLivesMatter, Black History Matters, Our History before it was stolen and rewritten by those that enslaved us Matters. #OneLove ❤️🗣💪

What a luscious prose! Definitely what one the best poetry collection I’ve read so far this year. The language is impeccable, vibrant and heavy with imagery. Also loved the themes of feminism, spirituality, war, violence, and faith.

Simply stunning!

I really liked a lot of the poems in this! “Carnage”, “marry me”, “father of a Queen” and “A portrait of a Goddess” were a personal favourite! I kept rereading them and thinking about them later.

I do not commonly read poetry, but I really enjoyed this anthology. The writing was very well written and emotive, I highly recommend to anyone who is a lover of poetry , and even people who do not typically pick up poetry like me.

I really enjoyed this poetry collection! As a poet myself, I definitely understand the poet’s point of view. The imagery in this collection was unreal and I felt as if there was a god inside of my body just reading it. I definitely will continue to read this person’s work!

A God In A Human Body by @tolutoludo

It’s the ninth poetry collection book from the philosopher-poet. This book explores the spiritual aspects, divinity and the enormous power we posses while we traverse in this earthly passage as mentioned truly. Couldn’t agree more!

I don’t want to write anymore cause I want you all to read it for yourself cause you’ll find peace of mind which I can assure you at least I can tell that for myself.

Some of the poems I already adored and screenshot them so that I can re read again and again whenever I feel low.

* How would you draw a God’s portrait as a poet?
And many more like these.

Collections are beautiful. Though for me the language it was written a bit tough to understand as I’m not English so sometimes it confused me but I managed to read it at one sitting cause I craved for more.

In this time of pandemic, I’d highly recommend this book.

The poems.. Absolutely loved them. "A god in a human body" is an incredible book of poems by @tolutoludo.

Mr. Tolu A. Akinyemi, is an award winning Nigerian poet and philosopher.

Each poem is deep and intense. Accidental Feminist, Father of a Queen and Brown Skin are my favorite.

This amazing book is releasing in January, 2022.

Absolutely loved it, Author Tolu' A. Akinyemi has left no stone - no emotion unturned in his new book.
It is rewarding in very aspect from a reader's point of view, each and every poem is deep, intense and has a way of enhancing human emotions on various levels. Highly recommended to all poetry readers out there.

Es interesante. La representacion de dioses en cuerpos o mismo el ver a una persona and worship them para luego pasmarlo me resultó bastante intrigante. Lastima que quedó medio corto y las ultimas páginas eran para promocionar otras obras.

This poetry collection by Tolu‘ A. Akinyemi is raw, but easy to grasp at the same time. Akinyemi touches on a broad array of topics, ranging from spirituality, power, patriarchy, divinity and race and with every poem he is able to touch the reader and make them feel yet another emption. It is filled with brilliant word plays, critical thinking and gratefulness at the same time. While it is hard to pick a single poem I liked best, the two last poems spoke to me because the whole collection is summed up in a way that is essential to everyone: you should always be grateful for what you have.

Thank you very much to the author for the early access. I would highly recommend these poems to everyone, who thought about giving poetry a try, to everyone who wants a unique perspective on spiritual and powerful poems or who just wants to have a great time!

Poems about life and spirituality are my favorite, and "A God in a Human Body" did not disappoint. The only critique I have is that I felt that some of the poems required more shaping and that the collection could have been organized a little better. But, apart from those minor things, I enjoyed the collection as a whole!
